1. Really?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.14.12)
So, the grand Arab promises of the 1970s haven't panned out? And Israel should simply forgive and forget? Why? We were there to teach the drought-stricken countries modern agricultural techniques. We brought modern medical technology and sent physicians and surgeons to train African doctors. We did so much more. And then Israeli relationships with those third world countries were summarily ended BY those countries because the Arabs promised black African states something more. Well, the Arabs didn't come through (gee, what a surprise!). It doesn't mean Israel should be freyerim a second time. Let these African states stew in their juices. They are victims of their own making. The diplomatic havoc they caused Israel cannot be undone -- or how many symposia on "Zionism as racism" and how many Durban conferences should they continue to host, before Israel cuts them loose? They have their good (snicker) Arab friends. Oil rich Arab nations. Let them go there. Israel has far better things to do with its knowledge and its time. Like sharing both with those who actually appreciate Israel's efforts. There is not a single nation in Africa which qualifies.
2. #1: Sarah B, you are not wrong!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.14.12)
As in the past, they will stab Israel in the back. However, Kenya is still pretty Israel "friendly" and we must remember that the Entebbe mission could never have succeeded with Kenyan co-operation. Both countries have big Muslim populations and could do an about face just as India seems to have done recently or South Africa where hatred of Israel because of is ties withe the previous SA regime and a very big anti-Israel Muslim community, is more important than clean water! With the world becoming more hostile to Israel every day, inspired by the hatred of the Muslim/Oil world and left wingers both at home and abroad, aided and abetted by the stupidity and the violence of the extreme right wing in Israel, I suppose we have to try an "cultivate" friendships wherever we can. Sad, but true.
3. th only thing Saudia exports is terror, hate, slavery
jericho ,   ca   (08.14.12)
4. Angry Sarah
Barry ,   Tokyo   (08.14.12)
There goes Sarah again. A reactionary simpleton. Almost as bad as your Arab on the street. Israel is engaging in what is called diplomacy, looking out for her interests. So glad that she only rants through her computer in her bedroom and not through any official position. She would only embarrass Israel by her bad manners.
5. The Jewish Gospel is spreading like fire in Africa!!!
Jouko ,   Finland   (08.14.12)
Africa needs before all the God of Israel and His Word - the Bible!
6. Barry from Tokyo
James ,   Tel Aviv   (08.14.12)

7. This is the initiative of FM Liberman. Great work!
Jake ,   USA   (08.14.12)
8. Are you kidding, the only reason countries pretend...
Iranian Hunter   (08.14.12)
to like Iran, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan are either oil or nuclear warhead threats. I guess Africans don't want to live in an islamic Africa. Makes sense, i guess their brain still works. The problem is, they don't have the power or the guts to fight back the arab and persian funded terror group. Most of their leaders are too busy using the nations money (corruption). They needs to have a big revolution and unite as african. Justice for africa. Fight back the oppressor arabs, persians.
9. saudi terrorists
mosses ,   gothenborg ,sweden   (08.14.12)
Who ever said that saudi exports terror is right look my country and my people (Somalia) it is the legacy saudi arabia and Arabs at large, they use narrow minded people.
10. Developed nations
Matt   (08.15.12)
No one in the major developed countries wanted to have anything to do with Lieberman. So Barak was basically a defacto FM to the US. But it worked to Israel's advantage because Lieberman could concentrate on other smaller countries, Africa, East Europe etc.
11. To: No. 4
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.15.12)
Is that the best you can do, Barry? Try harder. Diplomacy is a question of give and take. Mind telling me what the African states have ever done for Israel (Kenya excepted)? Just one thing, Barry boy. JUST ONE THING.
12. Golden Era? Idi Amin?
Arik Silverman ,   Chicago USA   (08.15.12)
13. James @6
Moragh   (08.15.12)
If your half as intelligent as Sarah is you could go a long way in this world. Presently, it looks like your stuck in your own home-made mud! Get a life!
14. Idi Amin
Moragh   (08.15.12)
The King of Scotland (self crowned, I might add) and the terrorizing and brutal murdering of his own people. Ja Ja, Idi was quite a boy wasn't he?
15. Sarah B, @ 11.
Moragh   (08.15.12)
Did you know Sarah that diplomacy is the art in telling someone to go to Hell in such a way that they look forward to the trip!
16. Africa and the Arab idiology
mosses ,   gothenborg ,sweden   (08.15.12)

Oh, I love it! Mind if I steal it?
18. What is this spiteful yammer?
Cameron ,   USA   (08.15.12)
Some of you are carrying on like a date stood up for the prom. TS.........grow up & let it go. Israel is in no position to turn away any state interested in advancing political and economic contacts. The Israeli govt. & industry will wisely fall over themselves to further their position in Africa. You'd prefer any future advantages & benefits landing in the hands of the Europeans, Chinese, or others? If nothing else, remember: African prosperity = fewer infiltrators
19. Economy benefits for Israel
Daniel ,   Israel   (08.15.12)
Israel has a income of $150 million every year through trade with Kenya, There are many Israeli like PILOT EITAN STIVA who have become millionaires in Africa. Africa has money, wealth and potential, its beneficial for both of.Israel always takes back when it gives. This is not a give relationship, its a give and take,
20. Question
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.15.12)
What is there to be gained from closer ties with countries such as the Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone, where marauding bands of machete-wielding psychopathic teenagers wreak such havoc? What is there to be gained from closer ties with countries such as the Congo, where tribal violence has resulted in the deaths of over five million? What is there to be gained from closer ties with countries such as Zimbabwe, which was once a food exporter and is now a drought-ridden desert? The Arabs promised black Africa the world, and failed to deliver. Is Israel supposed to welcome them back with open arms? I don't think so. However, if these countries really want and really need Israeli assistance -- and they do, on both counts -- let them show their support for Israel in international fora such as the United Nations. Unless and until -- no dice. Let them go plead their case with the Arabs or with the former colonial powers that turned black Africa into such a mess to begin with. Africa's plight is not Israel's problem, and very definitely not Israel's responsibility.
21. It is VERY IMPORTANT for IL to develop relations with Africa
Alan ,   SA   (08.15.12)
This has nothing to do with infiltrators or T A Bus Station Republic.Africa is a very rich Continent with a potential... but who knows.Minerals Oil Coletan (for phones) Wood,Rare Earths Gold Diamonds, Agriculture ... big developing middle class,Water, Power .Agribusiness BTW Kenya on the East Coast is very important to IL .A very old friend. And a good one too! (I love Kenya)Remember even Irgun guys were kept prisoners by British in Gil Gil in Mandate days! As for SA... I will not comment as when I do YNET does not print my Post!
22. We would like to revive the 'golden era' as long as...
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.15.12)
You keep your folks on your side of the border...Only thing that you can send over here is your natural resources, like diamonds, gold, uranium...
23. The post at No. 22 is not mine.
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.16.12)
The troll appears to have gotten lose from his or her keepers. Got to learn to keep the cage door shut ....
24. To: Cameron at No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.16.12)
Well, that would depend. Do you think that it would be too much to ask for their support in the United Nations in return for the multitudinous benefits they will derive from Israel?
25. #8 - same reason Africans are now friends with Chinese
William ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
The Chinese promise economic aid projects in return for access to local natural resources. While I can understand the African need for external aid to help growth, I can't understand why they would forgive and forget so easily the Arabs who led the largest African slavery industry in the world - eclipsing the Europeans by a magnitude. And Arabs never apologized for it nor treat Black Africans as equals, as we see more blatantly in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
26. Sarah of #24
Cameron ,   USA   (08.17.12)
Regardless of symbolic UN votes, take what you can swing, and be thankful for that. This is the real cold world, don'tcha know.
