1. Will I don't agree
Matt   (08.14.12)
I don't know what Israel or the US will say. The treaty means more to you than me.
2. Sinai
max ,   washington dc   (08.14.12)
The Sinai is already under Egyptian Sovereignty. The Peace Treaty was to ensure no more terrorists attacks on Israel from the Sinai and made it demilitarized allowing the MFO (Multinational Force and Observers) to report any violations. Since the "Arab Spring" Israel has had its gas supplies cutoff and terrorist attacks on its citizens once again from Egypt and Gaza. Under international law Israel has the right to defend its citizens as the Egyptian and Gaza Leaders have failed halt the terrorists.. Egyptian tanks are not needed at the border with Israel, rather mobile, fast reacting anti terrorist units from the MFO are needed to restore the "Peace".
3. Sorry Morsi, it doesn't work this way
Eyal ,   USA Israel   (08.14.12)
You cannot decide any changes to the treaty alone. It would need the OK by Israel and I don't think Israel will allow it, so now what? Do it anyways? Just try, you won't survive 1 if not 2 days.
4. That arrogant Muzzie seems to have lost
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (08.14.12)
his mind under Egypts sun...
5. "amendments"?!
Moshe Z. Matitya ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (08.14.12)
That is a ridiculous euphemism. Bilateral treaties, by definition, cannot be "amended" unilaterally by one side. Morsi is not mulling "amendments" to the Camp David Accord; he is mulling the abrogation of it.
6. Relax!!
Dave ,   Montreal, Canada   (08.14.12)
Egypt cannot make unilateral changes to the treaty. It is a treaty! Any ammendment or modification must be negotiated at the highest levels or the treaty is void. Think before you type, these foolish kneejerk reactions do not help Israel's international image.
7. Does he want to move his army to Israel's border like Nasser
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (08.14.12)
That would end the peace treaty but would please his Islamist power base back home.Puts a different light on the attack on the Egyptian army base.
8. CUTE Morsi, now you're just being silly.
Iranian Hunter   (08.14.12)
So, you want to abrogate the treaty and wants to annex Sinai ? Well sorry buddy, but i don't think that is a wise plan. But then again, you're a Muslim Brotherhood puppet. So sane and wise are not really your thing, and besides, your puppet master the MB won't let you rule until you wage war with Israel. Now the big question is, will CUTE Morsi focus on economy or Jihad ? And will the praetorian guards let go off power or will they make a little "coup de etat" ? To be honest, i don't think the military has the "balls" to do it, since MB has a lot of "obviously not bribed" supporters.
9. Yoo Hoo, Mrs Clinton...
leo ,   nyc   (08.14.12)
Your friend in Egypt seems willing to stir the pot up---is he coordinating with you??
10. The first Muslim who broke a treaty
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (08.14.12)
with the Jews was a man named mohamed,so,treaties with muslims are meaningless, the present treaty between Israel and Egypt is in effect, only because of the 2 billion dollar a year,Egypt receives from the American infidels,Egypt has to remember, wars never end the way they were planned to end by those who started the wars.
11. amendments to peace treaty
Yackov ,   Joburg, South Africa   (08.14.12)
Don't make us come back and take it, you wont like us when we are mad.
12. Israel agreed to whole treaty including the amendment clause
observer ,   Egypt   (08.14.12)
13. Yeah?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.14.12)
Well, Israel just might reconsider the peace treaty entirely, and just roll right over Sinai. We've done it before. We can do it again. And if Morsi doesn't shut his big, stupid mouth, he's going to lose the Canal, too. We've done THAT before as well. We can do it again. And now that Morsi has dismissed the only military officers that are capable of anything, there isn't much that he can do to stop us. Good-bye Morsi. Hello Yamit and Taba. I like it.
14. If pres. Morsy is wise, he will treat Israel with respect!
Jouko ,   Finland   (08.14.12)
If Morsy is as fool like Pharao of old, he will try to dictate the changes into the treaty with Israel. Someday the parts will turn upside-down and Israel will treat Egypt with respect or with power - according to how Egypt has done to them!
15. Israel has not been honoring the treaty
observer ,   Egypt   (08.14.12)
In the area within 3 km. (1.8 miles) east of the international border, border patrol units not to exceed three battalions will supplement the civil police in maintaining order. In the framework of the accords, 52 lines addressed West Bank, Gaza, while only 8 lines addressed Egypt-Israel. What talk progress Israel made for the WB-Gaza issue?
16. Egypt is a democracy now, new treaties are in order
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.14.12)
17. Peper Treaty
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (08.14.12)
Israel should retake Sinai now what good is the treaty if the other side changes it on a whim and does not even have friendly relations or the people in Egypt are against it and will change it at a moments notice. I am saying this as someone who saw what war does when in Israel in 73,
18. SECURE BIG ISRAEL, Sinai back, nonviolent transfer, BALANCE.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (08.14.12)
19. The economy of Egypt should really be the priority
Abraham ben Jacob ,   Canada   (08.14.12)
If it shows that Morsi cares more about ammending treaties with Israel than feeding the Egyptian people and providing good governance, we see what his priorities are. If this is the case it would reflect his "real" agenda which places his own personal ideology in the forefront and relegates the well being of his own people to the backburner.
20. Sinai
James ,   Tel Aviv   (08.14.12)
Beduins rule Sinai. I cannot imagine that they will give up that easily. Egypt will have its hands full fighting them. This is not about the '79 treaty.. its about regaining control and putting an end to bedouin drugs, weapons, and illegal immigrants.
21. What`s up Morsi ?
Nora tel Aviv   (08.14.12)
In a year from now , no one will recognize Egypt as a democracy. Islamic theocracy will prevail in Egypt. Israel should reconsider your aspirations to lead all Middle-East Sunnis under your banner.
22. A souvereign Sinai.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (08.14.12)
Anybody is Egypt's leader Mursi or II. Ramses Sinai bedouins are completely different from the Nile valley egyptians. It was her majesty Queen Victoria who invented to unite Egypt with Sinai, to protect the Suez channel from the turks and germans.Support independent Sinai, unite with them Gaza arabs and the ME conflict is solved.
23. Israel left the Sinai peninsula based on Egypt accepting the
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (08.14.12)
peace treaty. But, if Egypt decides to cancel its agreement, it should expect that Israel will want, and actually will recover control of at least some of the Sinai peninsula. And, in addition, Egypt will cease receiving the economic assistance that it does from the US that is party to the peace treaty, thus causing the economic collapse of Egypt. Will the Egyptian leadership be that stupid to bring about both upon itself...
24. sarah
yakov ,   nahariya   (08.14.12)
Sarah B, sitting safely in NYC, deciding who should and who should not be allowed to live here, and demanding a catastrophic war with Iran, is now sending us off in to yet another war, this time with Egypt. Thanks Sarah. With friends like you who needs enemies?
25. #15 observer
Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (08.14.12)
The language in the lines is important - not the number of such lines. Think, think, think!
26. Amend with the war Morosi the terrorist wants, Israel can
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (08.14.12)
use a new oil field and a canal. BUT, move the bedouins and all the other non-Jews away so there can be nice Jewish resorts with no terrorists around.
27. Sinai should be returned to Israel
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (08.14.12)
If Egypt continues to violate the Camp David accords, they wll effectively forfeit the Sinai to Israel. The Sinai returning to Israel is best for both nations and for the sake of peace. It was a worthwhile experiment handing our land to our enemies, but it has failed.
28. Israeli retreat is the root source of all the problems.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.14.12)
The only reason Israel is having a problem with Morsi today is because of our lunatic retreat from Sinai. Retreat is the root source of practically all Israel's serious problems. End retreats and end most of our problems.
