Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (08.15.12)
... tort in most jurisdictions. Get a civil judgement (in some convenient jurisdiction) against these EuroLeftists; then take the house away from a first one. The rest will lose their appetite for bravado. I have a grudging admiration for the Palis who fight us; they really do put their neck on the line. The EuroLeftists are just in it for laughs.
2. This is good news for business
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (08.15.12)
The EU is Israel best foreign representatives for Israel products. Instead of hurting business it has only increased demand, new contracts and distribution channels. The EU does the stupidest things to ensure their source of oil, and keep their Muslim population from violence.
3. If Cathrine Ashton & the EU say your settlers your settlers
zionist forever   (08.15.12)
If the EU says your illegal settlers then you must be because the EU is never wrong. The EU should declare all of Israel to be an illegal settlement because the palestinians say all Israel is part of Palestine to be liberated and prior to WW1 this was all part of Greater Syria so Israel is also occupied Syrian territory. Before they lost the war of independence Eilat was part of Egypt. How can we think of ourselves as anything but illegal settlers?
4. Pity Gibraltar,stolen from Spain,doesn't produce anything(ex

6. Modiin
Harold ,   USA   (08.15.12)
Have you checked where Modiin is located reading the 1947 UN resolution or you want to do it your way.
7. The simplest thing for Israel
Sarah B   (08.15.12)
would be to cease trading with Europe, then you wouldn't have to put up with this BS. The next thing will be they will reject Israeli products saying they are mislabelled anyway, may as well cut our losses.
8. EU trying to give another White Paper.
Dan Kelso   (08.15.12)
Once again the Europeans are trying to give a White Paper to Jews to appease the Arabs, just as the Europeans did this in 39
9. EU stupidity and venality
avramele   (08.15.12)
Not helpful to peace, not helpful to the EUs credibility. Had Israel a government or FM that was on speaking terms with anyone but Azerbidjan there would be quick resolution. But no one listens to bibi any more just as few ever talked to Lieberman.
10. How can EU be FOR Israel? Israel not HONESTLY FOR ITSELF!
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (08.15.12)
11. Actually Modiin is a Settlement
Shuki ,   the North   (08.15.12)
Wake up you silly people, you are settlers. As far as the world is concerned, we all are. You think you can sit in your posh little town and thumb your noses at "those settlers" and you'll be immune? Wake up and grow up. We're all in this together, and Tel-Aviv is no more or less ours than the Shomron.
12. To nr 6 - Your arguments don't hold water
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.15.12)
1) Do you seriously want us to believe that you are simply a good hearted objective fellow without any bias or prejudice whatsoever who is merely interested in the Jewish state and others respecting international law? Then why being so one sided and why not question all countries' dubious territorial claims? We know that you are not concerned with international law. 2) Your statement would hold water if Israel recognizes the UN's authority. Israel doesn't. 3) You argument would hold water if the UN Partition Plan of 1947 was legally binding. It wasn't and still isn't. It was a recommendation put forward by the UN General Assembly. The UN Partition Plan lost its validity since the Arab side rejected the partition plan and therefore the borders of 1947 can be ignored. 4) Your argument would hold water if the ICJ can violate countries' independence and territorial claims and impose ICJ rulings on independent/sovereign states. ICJ cannot. Visit ICJ's official homepage. ICJ deals only with independent/sovereign states and ICJ rulings are binding only if an independent and sovereign state actually agrees to the ruling. "Palestine" is no state and Israel doesn't agree. 5) Your argument would hold water if the UN and the world doesn't recognize pre 1967 borders. But the UN and the world do recognize Israel within pre1967 borders. Modiin is located within pre1967 borders. 6) The pre 1967 "border" is actually an armistice line and not a legally defined border - not by the UN nor any other organization. 7) Your argument would hold water if Jews hadn't any history or native rights to Israel. Problem is: Jewish history in Israel is 4000 years old and Jews are the native, historical, ancient and present population and owners of the land. 8) Your argument would hold water if the San Remo Treaty and the Anglo-American Treaty would agree with you and the EU. They don't. These legally binding treaties stipulated that the legally defined borders of the Jewish state would be Cis-Jordan, Trans-Jordan and southern Lebanon up until the bend of the Litani river. Modiin is within that territory. You concoct a bunch of arguments to destroy Israel and the Jewish people since you are racist anti-Semitic genocidal ideologist using "international law" as an excuse to destroy a 4000 year old Jewish civilization. You and the EU may dislike Israel but you can't destroy Israel. Israel will outlive all of you. Get used to it.
13. Maccabim and Maccabim-Re'ut parts are in Palestine
Taner ,   NYC USA   (08.15.12)
And thus settlements! Get your facts right...
14. I look forward to the day when
SD Charger ,   San Diego   (08.16.12)
Israel proper reaches the banks of the Jordan, encompasses Lebanon, Syria and the Sinai as well. The sooner we get there, the better it will be. It will not be without fighting the whole world, but we have YHWH on our side and EVERYONE knows it. The '47, '67 lines will be history too. Countries are aligning with G-d's word, whether you like it or not and HE will bring it to pass. Giving land for peace has NEVER worked. Perhaps if Israel will actually follow G-d's word and conquer the land that was promised to them by YHWH, we will have a final peace and real homeland for his chosen people. Until then, Jerusalem will be a stumbling block to ALL nations, including Israel.
15. Poetic Justice Ex Tel Avivians now "settlers"
Leftist"Settlers" ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.15.12)
Too funny for words "we are not settlers" oh yes you are now and how doYOU like it !!? Maybey they will wake up and realise that most of Israel is considered " occupied territory" I tell ya one day your living on Shenkin St in Tel Aviv a member of Shalom Akshav and the next your a "settler" too funny for words & it couldnt happen to nicer people !
16. To nr 13 Would you mind to backing up your statement?
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.16.12)
And would you mind telling me who are you, what you want, what are you doing in an Israeli newspaper and who you are to judge us and what is your interest in this conflict? Modiin is located within pre 1967 borders. You anti-Semites can no longer use the "Palestinians" in Judea, Samaria and Gaza as an excuse to hate Israel. You are now showing your real face. You oppose Israel's very right to exist. Nooo, Modiin Maccabim Reut is located in Israel and therefore no settlement. No "Palestinian" people or country have existed in recorded history. Modiin lies in Israel which is our ancient Jewish homeland. "Palestinians" or Arabs are the true settlers and squatters in Israel. Where do you think Taner your Bible, your Latin alphabet and your Christian religion come from? It comes from Jews and Israel and not the moon. White Europeans in North America are no natives and America's conquest of Hawaii was illegal. Modiin lies as much in "Palestine" as NYC lies in Disneyland and Modiin is as much a "settlement" as NYC is a "settlement". Get your facts straight - foreigner and imperialist meddling into our affairs.
17. ... and London is in Germany.
Robert Renders ,   Belgium   (08.16.12)
18. we are not settlers
jack bauer   (08.16.12)
there has never been a palestinian people before the 60s, there has never in all of history been a palestinian country. Jerusalem is our capital and all the land is ours. If anyone doesnt like that they should gtfo
19. history redux
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (08.16.12)
In the 1930s, the Jewish Leftists in Europe said "we are not Jews, we are Germans of the Mosaic religion". They repeated it so often that they started believing themselves. The problem is that everyone else thought they were Jews. Now, the Leftists are bleating "We are not settlers". Let's see how that works out.
20. When did the EU become the 'new world order?'
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.16.12)
These anti semitic lost souls have become Satan's agent, what they couldn't do under the nazi's "final solution' forces them to try, try, again May they fail, again, and again.
21. One third of Israel's trade is with EU
Simo ,   Helsinki, Finland   (08.16.12)
Some religious extremists here demand ending trade with EU. Well without trade with EU Israeli economy would collapse totally. EU is Israel's biggest trade partner. There is nothing vital EU needs from Israel so EU ending trade would not hurt EU, but Israel would not exist long after such a decision.
22. It's all part of Israel
Chaim Ben Kahan ,   Efrat, Israel   (08.16.12)
The EU can say whatever it wants, but it will not change the truth that all of the land in question is part of Israel. Those who make such claims about Israel are the children and Grandchildren that essentially aided Germany's extermination of the Jews. After stealing our homes in Europe, they now go after our Birthright.
23. UNSC res 476 should be mandatory reading
