it should be noted, that a public utterance by peres is completely irrelevant in terms of decision-making. and if peres is only half as clever as his detractors assume, he must know this. but clever he might be all the same. my hunch is, that such a statement makes more sense in terms of confusing the enemy. so, better wait for the imminent attack and find out later that peres was in favor of it. after all, even his admirers find him uncanny.
