No a$$ kissing allowed in Turkey by Rabbis and MKs...
2. "Secret meetings"
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.19.12)
not so secret any more. Why bother making an appearance before those who tried to murder Israel's IDF troops & who were paid assassins who gambled and lost their lives and Erdogen's pride in the process? Nothing was or will be solved trying to "come let us reason with one another" as this present anti Israeli Turkish regime is hell bent on her own destruction by attacking Israel, this was a foolish unauthorized faux pas by the attendees. It should also have been truly 'secret', exposing this nonsense illustrates such vast waste of time and energy.

that Turkey and Israel would reconcile again for the benefit of both countries considering the situation which both countries are in at the moment. I dare say they have got only each other right now!

5. "willing to...pay compensation to the families."
A ,   Belgium   (08.19.12)
Why, why, why? Because a few terrorists got killed trying to run a LEGAL blockade while attacking Israeli soldiers armed with paintball guns? Can't the money be put to better use, like fixing some roads, or renovating a hospital or a school? Maybe helping out some of the holocaust survivors who have to spend their last days in misery and neglect? Or is it more important that Erdogan says, "Ok, Jews, we like you again, well, we like your money for sure"? I'm sure this visit was not Liebermans idea nor was it approved by him.
6. Compensation
Max ,   Washington DC   (08.19.12)
Why are the families of the Turkish families being offered compensation by Israel? The money could better be spent compensating all the Israeli victims of terrorism including those injured along the on the Gaza border and those injured by the thugs on the Gaza blockade running ship of fools.
7. Weird news
American ,   Los Angeles   (08.19.12)
Since turks support islamic terror openly ,it's difficult to understand this move. Israel should stand it's ground and never try to reconcile with the jihadists.
8. Renew ties
Sherlock Holmes ,   London UK   (08.19.12)
The posters who oppose renewing ties with Turkey are mainly not Israelis. Israel and Turkey had a longstanding friendship. Jews fleeing the Spanish Inquisition found refuge in Turkey and of course the Ottoman Turkish Empire governed Palestine for centuries. Israel is right to want to renew ties. If you think back Israel was once good friends with Iran as well, until the Shah lost power.

Even if you use the same name of famous detective ,you seem to be unaware of SS Struma massive murder of Jews during February 1942 due to turkish longstanding "hospitality". Back then, more than 750 Jews ( mainly women and children )coming from Eastern Europe due to nazi pogrom ,were sent to sure death in Black Sea.Why don't you check at Wikipidia to read the complete story, which will probably enlighten you about the kind of refuge Turks gave to those Jews (as well as to Armenians and Greeks 20 years earlier). The Spanish Inquisition you are refering to, was some centuries earlier....

A cheap pay off would quiet this old extortionist who lost 9 lives and the money he'd paid the dead terrorists. It would also prove Erdoen just wants $$, he knows there is no apology coming from Israel.

David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (08.20.12)
Maybe they wee looking for kosher (Glatt - Mehadrin of course) accommodation for themselves and the rest of Shas to run away to when Iran bombs Israel, Eli Yishai in the lead. Let's not forget that their anti-Israel brothers in Iran support Ahmadinejad and his fellow loons!

even though I dont live there, and I am AGAINST renewing ties Turkey. They can go to hell. Wherever Jews lived as a minority, they were persecuted, ESPECIALLY in moslem countries. So Turkey was no great paradise ever after the "Enlightenment". As the UK never was.
14. # 7 This is similar to a 'nuisance' legal pay off
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.20.12)
cheaper to pay a small amount for a vocal opponent. Personally I agree Turkey is screwed.

It is funny how you Greeks are singing a different tune now. Many Ottoman Sephardic-Jews, Turks, and Romani have not forgotten what happened to them in Greece when the Greeks were gaining their independence from the Ottoman Empire. Also Turkish/Ottoman-Jews have not forgotten what happened to their forefathers during WW2 when many greeks in Greece helped round them up for the Nazi's. EOKA in Cyprus attempted to do the same with the Turkish-Cypriots or as the Greeks like to call them 'Ottoman Remainders' from 1955 till the 1970's. Had it not been for Ecevit/Turkey ALL Turkish-Cypriots would have suffered the same fate at the hands of Nikos Sampson. Since 1974 many of you fanatical right wing greeks have not been able to digest this Cyprus phenomenon have you? MANA MOU reh :( :( hence your reflux of a comment to Sherlock Holmes. Save your hyprocrisy and Anti-Turkism propaganda for those who are ignorant about you! (like some members of the Ashkenazim). It doesn't work on the already enlightened ;-)

Although your comment consists of 5 paragraphs, you conveniently mention nothing about the SS Struma massacre. Perhaps you would like to tell us about Varlik Vergisi, an outrageous wealth tax, which was imposed to all non muslim minorities in Turkey durind 1939 in a clear effort to deprive them from their properties. So save your hypocricy for the ones who are unaware, because we are not included in this group.

The SS Struma event is an isolated incident which reflects how unorganised Turkish authorities were and currently are. Even during the height of the Ottoman Empire most of its top administrators were non-Turks such as the Armenians. Only organised nations are capable of carrying out systematic killings ;-) Why did you refrain from mentioning events which consisted of people like Necdet Kent, Namık Kemal Yolga, and Selahattin Ülkümen (who were all Turkish diplomats who saved Jews during World War II by giving them Turkish Citizenship)?? As for the Varlık Vergisi that too is not enough to depict the "Infamous Turks" as intolerant discriminating individuals. "Varlık Vergisi ("Wealth tax" or "Capital tax") was a Turkish tax levied on the wealthy citizens of Turkey in 1942, with the stated aim of raising funds for the country's defense in case of an eventual entry into World War II" Even now across the globe those earning a higher wage automatically pay a higher tax rate. So what exactly is your point Turkophobe? :)

The given explanation about "unorganised "turkish authorities is at least naive when such a criminal behavior is envolved. When you deprive from 750 Jews food, water and fuel, while you tow them to the open sea, nothing has to do with lack of organisation. Regarding Varlik Verisi the problem is that this law applied only to non muslims, so you can get my point. By the way I am not turkophobe, but I would rather describe myself as a moderate one.Iyi axamlar.

Your comments shout Extreme Anti-Turkism not moderate. What significance is it to you if the long existing Judeo-Turkish ties are restored? Why take this article as an opportunity to heave your bile against Turks? Are you seriously that badly brainwashed against them? The Varlik Vergisi applied to ALL Turkish citizens. If non-muslims fell into the 'wealthy category' then surely they could not have been severe victims of severe inequality. The Struma SS incident was an isolated incident. If Turks were such criminals towards Jews then Jews would not have flourished beside them for 500 years or so, and the Turkey/Israel alliance would not have existed. Also, you dear Anadelfos would probably be speaking Turkish and calling yourself Mehmet or Levent right now :D if the Turks were such Barbarians. If Turks are such "criminals" how come you managed to perserve your Greek language and religion which could have been easily chipped away during 500 years of Turkish rulership?

Dear Kemalist .Extremists are the ones who cannot tolerate not even the existence of Turks and probably I don't belong to this category since I have already visited your country many times. The essense of my comments is to inform Israeli readers about some dark aspects of turkish foreign policy, which doesn't hesitate to use harsh rhetorics and measures in order to gain the upper hand. The Davos incident as well as the Mavi Marmara campaign which was organised by IHH and supported by turkish goverment, were openly hostile against Israel .Regarding Varlik Vergisi it was supposed to apply to all citizens, but by a strange coincidence it was only the minorities who suffered.(There is another commentator named David Israel/New York, who was born in Turkey and is able to confirm what I am saying). In case Israel and Turkey want to restore their ties it is OK with me,I am just warning about possible complications due to turkish arrogance.Iyi axamlar.

Inform Israeli readers huh? LOL!! Awww thats so cute bravo pedi mou bravo!! However, I am sure most logical thinking Israeli's can embark upon their own conclusions regarding the preposterous AKP without your "kind" and "loving" assistance. You failed to answer my question in my previous comment to you. Which yet again reflects your own arrogance and personal prejudice. Efharisto para poli for failing to convince me otherwise :) As for David Israel and his personal experiences they are not enough to help me appraise Turkish people in general either. So if that is all, I will award you with an international farewell (as I have very little greek)! Bye Bye!! :D God Bless and carry on being a "Good Cyber Samaritan" :D
