The truth is that Pius XII was a hero, standing up for the Jewish people when no one else would. It has come to light that Russia set up a campaign to smear Pope Pius XII after his death, due to the Catholic Church's stance against Russia's communist tyranny. I am Catholic and strongly disapprove of the Vatican's reluctant oversight of the bishops responsible for protecting predators. I am no fan of Lazarotto, either, for that very reason. We have a well-known problem in this country with Orthodox rabbis protecting pedophiles in their ranks and demanding silence about the matter from their congregations. You must deal with this matter in your own ranks differently than the Vatican did to have any real credibility on the matter.

Israel must give what you call in diplomacy the "agreement". Israel can refuse until the Vatican names somebody accepted by Israel. You missed the point. Israel does not have to accept Lazarotto's credentials; nor should it. The Vatican thus has two options, and two options only: (i) appoint a new nuncio, or (ii) have no representation in the State of Israel.
