Christian, I must take exception to your comment of anti Isreal sentiment in Ireland. The negative sentiment exists in left wing parties such as Sinn Fein. (IRA) and with with the current leader of the failed previous government. The majority of Irish people respect the right of Isreal to exist in peace with its neighbours. We have full diplomatic relations with Israel. The late Chaim Hertzog, former president of Israel was both Irish and Israeli. If Pope Pius XII did save 800,000 Jews why can't the Vatican produce any evidence? After the war Israeli leaders did thank the Pope for his war time efforts, but on the other hand he ruled that Catholics who adopted Jewish children during the Holocaust must not give back to the Jewish community. As a matter of interest, future Pope John Paul II in Krakov rejected the ruling and did return Jewish children.
