61. #27, "Israel" is a Torah construct, ignoring the existence..
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.31.12)
...of the majority native populations inhabiting the land "from the Nile to the Euphrates." "A construct in the philosophy of science is an ideal object, where the existence of the thing may be said to depend upon a subject's mind. This, as opposed to a "real" object, where existence does not seem to depend on the existence of a mind."
62. To No. 60
Bertram ,   London, UK   (08.31.12)
Or perhaps parents, students and other Israelis would not think of suing BGU. Perhaps they are happy that there are some places which encourage a spectrum of views, from those such as Professor Oren's through to those perceived as expansionist and ultra-nationalist. Perhaps they do not subscribe to the Stalin-like, totalitarian position of this new thought police, of which you are clearly a member.
63. Possibly better
Zivron   (09.01.12)
Its like a secular democratic with the Jews in security control supported by the USA maybe a 55:45 ratio in Jewish favor a utopian dream ignoring herd mentalitytribalism and human propensity to violence and genocide .Jewish Israel cant afford Denmark ww2 or Czechoslavakia or even Vive La France.
64. oh gosh, look at this
Bluegrass Picker ,   Afula   (09.01.12)
Steven F Benassi, Marks Drive, Silver Bay MN 55614. This particular piece of land was stolen from the Potawatomi Band of the Ojibwe Nation.
65. End the Occupation - all Jordanians must return home!
Tomer ,   Israel   (09.01.12)
And Jordanians they are and will remain so, especially after we repatriate them. If not now, then certainly when Feiglin becomes PM.
66. The Israeli and Palestinian policies are wrong!
wrong-wrong-101   (09.01.12)
The key to peace is the Palestinian transformation to civility and non-violence. The Saudi uprising against the Turkish colonization was more or less a British plan. The people on the ground were not ready for independence. They were undercivilized. The key to a good independence is a high grade civilization. Like the American population with a civilized leadership in 1776. Palestine is not at 1776 yet.
67. #64 Northern MN land stolen from Anishinaabe Ojibwe Chippewa
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.01.12)
I cannot stop land theft, and genocide, before my time, but, I will stop it in my time. I will not be silent! The Chippewa are full citizens now, and I am a second generation American, with Grandparents from Canada, Ireland, Italy. See... http://www.mnchippewatribe.org/
68. To N 62, Bertram.
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (09.01.12)
I don't agree that Chaim and others are "totalitarians". In fact, they fear a Palestinian State into West Bank, because, for them, she would endanger Israeli security. We have to understand it, but without forgeting the rights of Arab people. Peace will only be possible through mutual concessions, under good will from the both ones. Israel has been attacked since her independence in 1948. New secure frontiers are necessary, and Palestinian leaders ought to recognize, verily, her Jewish neighbor. When it occurs, Israel must eliminate all settlements into Arab territory. Arab Palestine needs, also, to be demilitarized. There is no other good solution. Salutes.
69. To No. 68
Bertram ,   LONDON, UK   (09.02.12)
I largely agree with you have said. Would that there were more like you. There are no quick and easy solutions. Of course, Israel has legitimate fears which must be addressed. But fear is not the sole property of one side. The biggest hurdle is for each side to acknowledge the 'other'. When either Arabs or Jews are subject to a process of dehumanization the situation seems pretty hopeless. Mutual concessions and good will - on all sides - are vital for any progress to be made.
70. One- sided distorted anti- Israel article
Shalom Freedman ,   Jerusalem Israel   (09.02.12)
This article does not represent the reality on the ground. Above all it fails to point out that the no - peace- process is the fault of the Palestinians. And that five times they have refused offers of a state. As it is now after Israeli Oslo withdrawals the great share of Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria are under Palestinian rule. The disputed territory in Area C is subject to continual encroachment on State Lands by unauthorized illegal Palestinian building. The author of this article is one of those 'idealists' who somehow blame Israel for everything wrong in the world.
71. Hebron is the birthplace of Judaism.
BUTSeriously ,   Sydney   (09.08.12)
The illegal settlement is Jordan, created by corrupting the Balfour which called for only one Jewish state. Those who now call a 3-state as a 2-state are criminals and Dathans. Jews have never occupied another peoples' land in all their 4,000 year history.

73. To Sarah B. U,S,A./Israel, at No. 27
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (03.16.13)
In general you are right, dear young lady. Let us also be alert at the danger of Islam, as well as in Israel, as in every other country. Unfortunately I have not yet heard that the Islam following has taken a distance from trying to realise a/the dictatorial, criminal, islamic world caliphate even by force over the entire mankind, as their own quo'ran says. That is a reason to forbid Islam, as well as for every ideology, which calls for domination, hate and destruction against other peoples. I have respect and understanding of every people, in every country. We all can know what islam is all about, since the 7th. century, when it all began on the Arab Peninsula. Peace and good health to you and to your love ones, Sjoerd.
74. WB Being Colonialzed
ltrail ,   United States   (03.17.13)
Yiftachel wrote: "...the Palestinians, who according to international law are entitled to sovereignty in the West Bank, continue to suffer under a violent military regime." The reasonable solution to the situation is for the State of Israel to annex the WB and the so-called palestinians to be citizens. Regarding so-called "international law", no international laws have jurisdiction over districts of a nation. Yiftachel wrongly describes the State of Israel as a "violent military regime". A violent military regime typically does not provide a monthly stipend nor would it provide free hospitalization and other benefits. No. Yiftachel's opinion is just more fodder of propaganda.
