1. Ah, the old religious fallback

If you're not sure what it's for then claim it's religious.

So after we celebrate the creation of the world 5773 years ago, scientists have found 10,000-year-old statues. Well, well, so there seems to be some kind of differences in opinion or measuring techniques. I'd rather accept the Torah's view, since that has never changed; the view of science is constantly being updated and I am tired of constantly updating my knowledge base.

The age of the world as determined by sciences has not been anywhere near 6.000 years ago for a very very long time.
4. :O how could it be possible 10000 yrs old when

Jews who have fallen into the Christian stupidity of creationism need to read "Immortality, Resurrection, and the Age of the Universe: A Kabbalistic View", buy the hassid Aryeh Kaplan z"l for an authentic Jewish calculation of the age of our universe.

7. 5773 Not age of earth
Meir ,   Toronto Canada   (09.15.12)
I blieve 5773 indicates the time since Adam or creation of humanity. Humans may have existed before but they did not live according to organized ethical values. Ask historians when history starts and pre-history ends and they will say about 5-6000 years ago.
8. Why does everything ancient have to be "religious"?
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (09.19.12)
... Couldn't it just have been made for decoration or instruction? What about good old supersticion? I guess one can't get an academic paper published unless one "finds" a link to some sort of worship. It's a Shame.
