1. Impressive work in Poland and impressive Ynet jurnalism.

It needs to be added that many Jews were part of the Communist regime after the war. Along with many non-Jewish Communists they served with the abandon of most committed lackeys the Polish regime which was subservient to Stalin and Beria. To those who dared question them, they would say they were "trying to survive" or that building the "new" Poland demanded their full commitment. Some of them were advanced by the Communist regime to positions of power in Poland and Pilecki was likely tortured to serve this kind of advancement. I would not be surprised to be told that some of the judges who sentenced Pilecki to torture were from that group of Jewish repatriates from Russia after the war. A very painful topic, indeed.

And in the history of Soviet Russia from the 50s onward many of the victims and subjects of torture by the Communist regime were Jewish. Most of the Jews who did serve under Stalin were eventually executed.

Unbelievable. What a Hero.
5. #2 Korem, The Georgian named Stalin killed many.

He was himself a minority person who was a henchman to people like himself. I read Anne Applebaum's authoritative book "Gulag" and did not find that Jews were uniquely persecuted. Also, in Volkogonov's book "Stalin" Jews are among the many persecuted minorities. It is well known Stalin suffered from a huge paranoia which made him suspect everyone as undermining his power. And yet, it was he who led Russians to defeat Hitler.

It's good to see archaeology being used to make sure this hero's remains can be found and re-interred in a place befitting one so noble. Could YNet have used a better picture for him though? The photo under the caption makes him look dark, evil and threatening. Is there a better photo around or is it just that one and the Auschwitz one?
