64. # 32
Terry ,   Tiberias, Israel   (08.31.12)
These military men do not "give their lives" they are well paid for what they do. Its their job,its what they do. Just like any other employee.
65. #45 Gabriel
(08.31.12)
"... and threaten nuclear retalliation in case Iran makes the decision to shell Israeli cities with missiles in response." And if Iran does make this decision, would you take the responsibility? In your scenario the situation would be as follows: Israel starts a war on the basis of allegations (even if true, they remain allegations), Iran defends itself with conventional rockets and as a response you want to exterminate millions of civilians. The Iranian people are not responsible for something that some people presume their government might would have done in the future.
66. Nothing matters to Obama aside from the election
Ilan ,   Israel   (08.31.12)
Obama does not want an attack before November even if it means Iran arming itself with nuclear weapons. He can only run for two terms anyway so why consider anything beyond this coming November. In this environment Israel doesn't have the necessary backup to attack and is left with the hope that a nuclear Iran will act against it's Arab neighbors first. sucks to be us.
67. DEmpsey as the Chairman of Joints Chief of staf
(08.31.12)
Is a legal representative of the USA, regarding any public statement he makes about foreign policy. As such he is medling in Israel'sl affairs. This a very big Hutzpah from the Obama government. Is this the way Obama cares about Israel security. Traying to froghten it's best ally?
68. Not to Worry - Romney Promised War
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (08.31.12)
In his speech, Romney all but promised an invasion of Iran and maybe a side war with Russia. He also promised over a trillion dollar increase in US defense spending as a jobs program. And its one, two three, what are we fighting for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn, the next stop is Teheran.
69. 27 Not Hardly
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (08.31.12)
Just somebody responsible for a million US lives at a minimum that would be immediately at risk. Real risk, not the hunch that Netanyahu has. Not to worry, Dempsey will likely retire when Romney orders the invasion.
70. Dempsey Lackey
Robert ,   New Jersey, USA   (08.31.12)
Dempsey's employer is obama. Dempsey doesn't want to lose his job. Obama has warned everyone in the military explicitly or implicitly that any support of Israel or other act contrary to his Islam-biased foreign policy will lead to immediate dismissal. Do I need to say more?
71. Gen. Dempsey enters politics
M.G. ,   New York, NY USA   (08.31.12)
It is unseemly for an active American General to enter the field of politics, which is not legal in the US. Dempsey is the first active officer to dive into politics, clearly doing the bidding of the Obama administration which is terrified Israel will attack Iran before the election. Israel does not expect to completely destroy Iran's nuclear production, BUT Israel can delay Iran's nuclear program indefinitely. Dempsey is a political hack whose comments are dangerous to Israel. Obama still naively and dangerously, believes that he can talk to Iran and they will give up their nuclear ambitions. Why would Iran listen to him when destroying Israel is a religious matter of faith for Iran. I also wonder, is Obama's reluctance to stop the bloodshed in Syria, also because he does not want to upset Iran hoping they will listen to him?
72. Could Obama be any clearer?
Alan Eigenstein ,   Edgewater, NJ   (08.31.12)
Dempsey wouldn't go to the bathroom without Obama's permission. So this message came from Obama. If Obama had meant this only to warn Israel, this would have been a secret diplomatic message. But it was public. That means Obama intended to tell both Israel AND Iran simultaneously that the US is giving the green light to Iran to nuke Israel. It's Czechoslovakia 1938. Bibi will know this too. That means that unless Romney wins, it's now certain that Israel will attack Iran, probably soon after the Nov elections since Israel will have nothing to lose. So if Obama wins, Israel's attack must must be successful. And success can only be guaranteed with a nuclear attack on Iran's facilities. So the net effect of what Obama has done is to guarantee the exact thing Obama does not want. Is there any president, even Carter, who is dumber than Obama???
73. A coward with 5 stars. What a DASTARD!
Israeli 2   (08.31.12)
74. Thank God
Paul ,   Atlanta, USA   (08.31.12)
There was once a time GW Bush said we need to take out Iran, Iraq and North Korea because they "can't be allowed to have nukes." So he started with Iraq, who didn't have any and mired us there so we don't have the resources to attack Iran if needed. You should't blame Obama if U.S doesnt/cant attack Iran. You should blame GW Bush. AND....fight your own wars. We'll always have your back if you need it, no matter the president so quit calling people dumb just because they don't agree. Israel isn't exactly perfect in this situation either.
75. Is any more proof needed?
Jake Stone ,   USA   (08.31.12)
Obama's true hate for Israel is quite evident; and yet, the American Jews will still vote for him! When are the people going to wake-up and realize what an evil boy Obama is?
76. #1 vmdeed - No address, Afraid?
BEN JABO (MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (08.31.12)
Iran has been threating to destroy Israel since 1979, anything that Israel would do would be to prevent from Iran fulfilling their hearts desire The current Chief of Staff is like soiled underwear, he will be changed in the next Administration
77. US generals do not express political or
leo ,   usa   (08.31.12)
expert opinions in public ... on their own. . Think about it.
78. #64
Henry from New York ,   Currently under the Tuscan clouds   (08.31.12)
It's definitely more commitment than other lines of employment and who gave you the impression that they are well-paid? Besides, it's not like he started out as a general all those years back. Military service isn't looked upon all that well in the employment sectors these days.
79. Mark of L The exact quotes will do.Why omit what he said?
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (08.31.12)
Even though we are not "intellectuals"we can make up our own minds or don't you trust the peasants with too much information?
80. ROBERT You mean sacrificing Chezkoslovakia was commendable??
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (08.31.12)
Not if you were a Chezck! Did it help? Will it stop global jihad for the global caliphate? Will the "nation of martyrs" no longer want to rule the mountaintops of the world "? Will Pakistan stop exporting terror & stop stabbing us in the back?
81. Red nose missing.
Gill ,   Hashmonaim   (08.31.12)
The real question is how much time are we giving them!!!
82. Americans are wimps
(08.31.12)
Americans are wimps. They would have lost WWII if the Red Army had not defeated the majority of the Whermacht for them. Also some Jews invented the A-bomb for them to drop on Japan. Fail in Vietnam, Iraq & Afghanistan. Total bunch of wussies & wimps lead by a mega-wussie.
83. did America act against North Korea, Pakistan, Syria
Amos J   (08.31.12)
Absurd, did America act against North Korea, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq when they were building nuclear reactors ? No, they just emitted a lot of hot air just like today. Israel acted promptly against Osirak & Syrian nuclear reactors (despite American & European objections), else those Scuds that hit Israel in the Gulf War in 1991 would have had Nuclear warheads on them. And who benefitted the most from Osirak attack ? Obviously America, they were able to throw Saddam out from Kuwait & invade Iraq easily. If Saddam had a few nukes, he would have been the Emperor of the Middle-East by now !
84. We will not go quietly to the gas chambers, Mr. Dempsey.
Ayelet HaShachar ,   Maale Adummim   (08.31.12)
85. Agreed! Couldn't have said it better.
Moshe ,   USA   (08.31.12)
86. Zero's stooge should never again set foot on Israeli soil
Devorah   (08.31.12)
87. Dempsey, a weasel obeys Hussein!
Benny ,   Iran   (08.31.12)
Isn't it obvious, so long as there is a Muslim in the White House, preaching from the evil Quran, his underlings will work like soldiers & act like weasels. It;s time to take action. Congress must impeach Obama for endangering the U.S.
88. A Military Genius ?.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.31.12)
Is this the Us Genius ? - I Quote - Dempsey: I don't want to be complicit in Israeli strike Chairman of joint chiefs of staff tells reporters in London he does not want to be 'complicit' if Israel decides to strike Iran's nuclear facilities – an attack which he believes won't stop Tehran's nuclear program Comment - Do this Military Genius belive that a rather- Non-Strike - would stop Irans Nuclkear Program ?. Arn.Sweden.
89. Dempsey sounds like Pontius Pilate
Arik Silverman ,   Chicago USA   (08.31.12)
Read the story of Pilate if you don't get what I mean. The parallels are astounding.
90. Nr 32 and 33.
Arn. ,   Sweden.   (08.31.12)
I Quote - Please tone it down for the future and comment on the merits of his arguments rather than childish insults about the man. Henry from New York , Currently under the Tuscan Sun (08.30.12) Comment - Why dont you yourself comment of the merits of His argument ? Is it because He and you does not have any ?. And Yes - I regard you as that childish as you wrote The Grecian Tuscans are the Founder of Rome, a Bad Mix. Arn.Sweden.
