There are few if any common & lasting values & objectives to link the two undemocratic countries. Even religion is a major dividing factor . Non democratic countries are inherently unable to truthfully agree on major issues for a long time: see Hitler & Stalin on the fate of Poland & on non agression pacts. Iran is seeking friends in the Arab world to decrease its isolation & to spread its influence. Egypt may seek a source of Iranian petro-dollars to reduce its dependance on US give aways which tie the Egyptian military to the West. It may help Morsi & the Muslim Brotherhood to get complete control over the army. There is no serious probability that the dream of Nasser for a United Arab Republic will be superseeded by an even more dreamlike United Egypt-Iran Republic.
