..but the borderline Fascist government in Hungary is right. The Claims Conference, like any major organization is heavy at the top - executives getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year with many perks, while there are many survivors who cant even put food on their tables. There should be accountability to the nations who are paying reparations - to make sure the money is helping the people that need it the most and not feeding a bureaucratic organization and supporting largess by that organizations board and management. Unfortunately, the business of non-profit is quite profitable for those that run it.

Assuming this is the long-standing Claims Conference, they must have records. Have they replied to this article? Have they been asked to reply prior to publication? Are we hearing only one side of the story?

1. Mazsok is today led by a member of the ruling Fidesz party. 2. Fidesz openly embraces the antisemitic regime of Admiral Horthy. 3. Claims Conference did give a detailed answer, but the Hungarian gov't did not accept it. 4. Current Hungarian government hates to pay reparation to Jews. The net result is that the government will not pay to Jews residing outside Hungary.
