1. Infiltrators
Marv ,   Israel   (09.05.12)
They are not in danger. After all, they made it across Egypt & Sinai with out dying. They should ask for asylum in Egypt, which is after all the 1st country they come to. Why trek all the way to Israel. Like the soldier in charge said,"let them step back a few meters into Egypt".
2. Egypt's moral and legal duty is what exactly?
ej ,   tlv   (09.05.12)
Now that Egypt is a democracy and claims it is moral, why are they NOT allowing these so called refugees to stay in Egypt? Israel is NOT under ANY legal obligation to take in refugees that are not agdacent to its borders. Unfortunately, Israel does take in these asylum seekers, even those from enemy countries like Sudan- no nation is obligated to take in refugees from an enemy country, yet Israel DOES! Israel should turn away these people back to egypt from where they came...
3. Hello! Can you spell "Egypt?"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.05.12)
Egypt just received a $1 billion handout from the United States. Surely there is enough there to pay for the keeping and feeding of illegal Africans. If not, why not? In any event, they are decidedly not Israel's problem. The whole two-border thing, you know. They are on Egypt's side of the border, and are thus Egypt's problem. Time for the Egyptians to step up. Or isn't that part of Morsi's agenda?
4. Isn't there enough poor people around TA ?
2Mad ,   גולה בצרפת   (09.05.12)
Sure, it's not fancy enough. Way better is a cool trip south, with buddies, cameras, headlines in papers - all for a price of one can of beans.
5. Strange story
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (09.05.12)
These people admit they went to a hot border, known for weapons, women and drug smuggling as well as lethal terrorist attacks, around midnight. They are very lucky they were not shot or arrested. If all they wanted to do is bring food and water and not, say, wire cutters, why don't they bring the food during normal daylight hours? Why didn't they coordinate their visit and donations with the IDF and police? Why don't they make their donations through the Egyptian embassy?
6. the human rightists just want us to take them all
zionist foreve   (09.05.12)
These human rights activists are a bunch of nuts. They criticise Israel for not doing enough but they have no criticism for the refgees themselves who just have to turn round go to Egypt and they have found a safe country where they can request asylum. Yesterday they were telling us how if there are refugees on the Egyptian side of the border ( not between fences ) but they want to seek asylum in Israel rather than Egypt then international law obligates us to take them in even though they are in Egypt already. They say we have no right to detain them once they get to Israel. These do gooders care about everybody except the Israeli public and if they had their way we would pull down all borders say anybody who wants to come to Israel is welcome and we will even buy you an apartment in Ramat Aviv make sure you have a decent home to go to.
7. empathy
john ,   toronto   (09.05.12)
They should be well fed and taken care of. Empathy towards fellowmen does not hurt. I am sure the poor in Israel can also benefit from such outlook.
8. Official Israeli Government Policy
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (09.05.12)
One of deliberate starvation. That is the Israeli government, supposedly the most enlightened in the region. Hang your head in shame Netanyahu you disgust me, deliberately starving Human beings? What have you become?
9. Must Israel throw food across border with Egypt
(09.05.12)
10. # 3
Mike Carmel ,   Rishon le Zion   (09.05.12)
You didn't read it correctly Sarah. They are not on the Egyptian side. The article clearly says "they were caught by obstacles that line the border area, within Israeli territory." Obviously they are scared to go back into Egypt for fear of being shot. Israel should at least give them some food and shelter and in parallel negotiate with the Egytians that they can be sent back unharmed. That would be the decent thing to do. But decent acts are a rarity these days.
11. sham
danael ,   jerusalem   (09.05.12)
so sham to Israel .they forget from where they come from and where they have been.

14. The illegal migrants are on Egyptian soil. Egypt, of course,
Adam Smith   (09.05.12)
needs to care for them. And, if it doesn't, members of NGO should reach out to these people while on Egyptian soil, after having entered Egypt legally, and help them return home, to Africa.
15. the people attempting inflitration are in EGYPT!
W. Turner ,   Israel   (09.05.12)
therefore EGYPT is starving them. But to put the matter in proper placement...it is the choice of these people NOT to return to their country of origin...therefore if they are starving they are doing so by their own choice and hand!
16. How bizarre is this!
AKUS ,   Washington, DC   (09.05.12)
These people are "trapped" on the Egyptian side of the border, having come through Egyptian territory. Why don't these human right activists follow the same route, and bring them food via Egypt???
17. Middle east!!!
Eritrean ,   Israel   (09.05.12)
this act purely defines of The nature of middle eastern societies is generally devilish! this is not a matter of illegals or infiltrators This is a life saving situation! i think it is not hidden the shoot to kill policy of the Egyptian government at that particular border! how can any one have the urge to give all unnecessary comments! crap region with crap governments!
18. Scandal !
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.05.12)

22. Make Carmal # 10
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.05.12)
These illegals came from Egypt. That makes them Egypts problem. If someone breaks into your home do you feel obligated to feed them?
23. # 8
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.05.12)
How stupid. Morsi should hang his head in shame. He allowed these illegals to pass through Egypt and create this problem. If you can't feel disgust for that you should be disgusted with yourself.
24. This is Egypt's problem
Rachel ,   US   (09.05.12)
25. Eritrean # 17
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.05.12)

26. open gates! only for leftists with a one way pass.
ralph   (09.05.12)
27. So, everything is rosy when the UK
Albert Einstein ,   Tel Aviv   (09.05.12)
dont accept refugees and let them live in shanty woods in Calais, France. Its also OK that the Spanish send BACK refugees reaching Cieta- you should know its spanish territory- to meet the police in Marocco. It is also OK that our neighbour the republic of Egypr shoot at those poor souls. What about France expelling members of the rom community with police escort? Where are the NGOs in those cases? are they sleeping ? or is it just Israel bashing and Israeli segregation? Those and other refugees must look elswhere. We simply dont want them.
28. Human rights 'activists' blabber
tiki ,   belgium   (09.05.12)
As the African asylumseekers are 'trapped between EGYPT & Israel, Egyp can take care of them as well as Israel does. Why do these HR-morons automaticly decide it's Israel's duty to take asylums seeker in and not Egypt..
29. To feed or not.
Kevin J Lee ,   Glasgow/UK   (09.05.12)
