31. #12 A little slow on the uptake
Jake   (09.05.12)
In international law, refugees are only recognized as such in the first country they flee to, which in this case is Egypt. The infiltrators entered from Egypt. That is the country where they can be legally recognized as refugees under the law.
32. #17, Wonderful news
Jake   (09.05.12)
And upon your return to Eritrea, be sure to tell your fellow Eritrean would-be-infiltrators just how "crap" Israel is.
33. Dregs of Humanity

You're all talking about people. stuck in a desert, without free access to water or food. whether they end up in israel or not, they need basic sustenance. regardless of who should take them in or why they are there; you should be able to see that you have a moral duty as a human being to keep them alive by giving them access to the basics that all humans should have. how is that a difficult thing to swallow? "its egypt's problem" "it's israel's problem". Damn... you're all talking about people stuck in a cage, here... how is that lost on you? the people in this talkback are some of the worst examples of human beings in the "civilised" world i have ever encountered. a plague on all your houses and may the world return to your doorstep the hate you spill into it, regardless of your race, religion, gender or nationality.
34. #3Hello Sarah, can you spell "Israel?"

35. These refugees are Egypt's responsibility, not Israel's.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (09.05.12)
Let the UNHRC do some work at last, if they are concerned about the plight of these so called refugees. Let them find countries that are willing to take in the Eritreans. They can make a direct appeal to Ashton to use her good office to get them into the UK, Navi Pillay (who IS the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights) - to get them into S. Sfrica. Now that is a good start. France, Belgium and Spain will also be sympathetic. Water and crackers should not be too bad a menu for them while they wait on Pillay.
36. Well done to the normal decent Israeli citizens
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (09.05.12)
Your outrage at the use of starvation as a political weapon has forced the Israeli Government to back down. The IDF have been ordered to provide these refugees with food.
37. Ironic
morbid ,   Florida   (09.06.12)
Yet whenever israel gets their panties in a bunch because someone dared speak out against them they go running to the US to save them from such 'evil people'...get real! Seems the new nazi regime is at it again....wonder what kind of excuse they'll give when these refugees die of starvation and weather and other countries start pointing the finger at them for not giving humanitarian aide to these people......its acts like these and the war crimes committed upon Palestinian civilians that has other countries opening their eyes and speaking out against israel...your days of crying victim are coming close to an end.....karma is as karma does!
38. Indeed you are morbid.
