Sure the submarines can reach anywhere in the Middle East but thats about it. The SAAR 4.5 missile boats which make up the bulk of the fleet ( from the late 70s & early 80s ) and the three SAAR 5 which are the most modern in the fleet ( about 20 years old ) they are designed for localised warfare not traveling long distances to of fight. If we want to be able to take the war to the enemy anywhere anytime then we need something like the new US Littoral Combat Ship which the navy wanted but didn't get because of cost. They also need to order more subs because the first three Dolphins are 20 years old now and average lifespan for submarine is 30 years so we need to order the new subs years in advance otherwise we find ourselves at a shortfall between the time when we start retiring we get new ones. Time to start giving the navy a fair share of the military budget instead of every year giving about 90% of it to the army & air force and the navy getting the left overs.

If the ME gets set a blaze by war, we will need EVERY soldier, bullet and boat on the ready to fight to win it decisively. This, here's your gun and no ammo or necessities will NOT work in the next war. I've read where ammo / supplies were short in Israel and I know it happened when our boys flew into Kuwait a few years ago. Dispensing supplies "on the go" is dangerous. I hope Israel's Navy is in "ship shape," ready to go yesterday if called upon and NOT being handed the necessary boats / ammo / supplies "on the go" like we so famously do.

........if war starts it will be because of Israel's beligerence. This is a concept beyond the grasp of paranoic Israelis who seem bent on destroying themselves.

To Zionist Forever: rubbish? Those Dolphin class subs ( approaching 6) can carry dozens of low yield nuclear missiles, each capable of taking out a Muslim city or causing serious damage and disruption. Yes, Israel's fleet CANNOT duke it out with Turkey, Iran or Egypt, I agree totally. but why bother, when you 500 nuke warheads. Commandos landing (navy seal types) with suitcase nuke bombs ( Israeli specialty) can wreck havoc. The 3 pronged attack, Israel employs: Merkavas/Abrams-F series and Phantom 2,000 planes, artillery for closer range, parashoot corps for behind the battle line fighting, Jerichos ( 10,000 km) and of course its main dterrent, over 1megaton nukes, should keep the Muslim bumbs and thugs sweating. And besides, the Aswan Dam is vulnerable, as is (flipside) Dimona. if tit for tat. I forgot lithium and cobalt coated for the final coup de grace, should Israel face Chinese type attacks.

It all sounds well and is most likely based on the enemy being attacked without sending a few thousand missiles your way. No matter what the outcome, you will always suffer a greater loss. Stop acting like a "mini me" to the USA. They are a super power and you the size of most coutries states or province. And dont even go there by mentioning China, trust me they can kick your a... with their police force alone.
