1. It is Europes reaction to this small incident that
Patriotic Israeli ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.06.12)
has interested me. Looking for ANY little minor excuse to slam Israel with their full weight - DISPROPORTIONATELY - only shows their true anti-semetic nature. BUT MORE THAN THAT: The harder they slam us for something: THE MORE THEY ARE FRIGHTENED OF US!!! They are frightened that we may become the real Jews that we were intended to be by God.
2. Whoa, there!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.06.12)
No one condones this vile act of vandalism. However, I do have a question. Anti-Semitic acts are rife throughout Europe -- desecration of Jewish graveyards, desecration of Jewish houses of worship -- so, tell me. How many ambassadors from those countries send messages to their respective governments decrying those acts of vandalism and desecration? Or are Jews and Jewish symbols still fair game in Europe? I would have preferred that the Roman Catholic monastery in Latrun be respected. That said, I have yet to see a Vatican official fall all over himself apologizing when Jewish graveyards and synagogues are desecrated in predominantly Roman Catholic countries. And the silence from those countries' governments has been deafening. No matter how despicable the act, I do not want to see members of the Israeli foreign ministry falling all over themselves apologizing to governments who turn a blind eye and a deaf ear when Jewish cemeteries and houses of worship are vandalized. It's really all about proportion.
3. BS,Catholic Church is silent on 500.000 Christians escaping
ab   (09.06.12)
Iraq (and soon from Syria too). And who says it was Jews ? Calling somebody a monkey has a distinct arab flavor.Hebrew letters ? As if arabs(or monks themselves) didn't know Hebrew
4. What kind of BS is that?????
Arthur ,   SF, CA   (09.06.12)
"Failing to apprehend the Jews"????? I'm willing to bet my last dollar that it was Arabs who did it. We've seen it way too many times in the past.
5. The Jewish radicals has a strategic goal
Choen,Israel   (09.06.12)
They tell our government: If you will continue to evacuate us from outposts ect. we will lead Israel into a collision course with both Muslim and Christian worlds. That is why their targets are mosques and Christian sites. That is the true meanning of the 'Price tag' term: Israel will pay heavy price for messing up with it's zealots. That is why the radical settlers are a threat for the state of Israel, no less than Iran is...
6. right-wing extremists - what a surprise
Haim ,   TA   (09.06.12)
7. Latrun Monastery
NYC Girl   (09.06.12)
There's something very unseemly about the European reaction to a crime that the Israeli government has condemned without reservation. Also, why haven't the authorities been given a chance to complete their investigations? Perhaps the Europeans think this is their opportunity to mitigate their culpability for crimes committed during World War II. Now let's see if they're prepared to deal with the potential incidents of anti-Semitic violence that may arise as a result of their racist histrionics.
8. what's new?
weeeee ,   ashdod,israel   (09.06.12)
the european continent has not ceased hating israel and the jewish people. unfortunately, this desecration gives them an audience for their anti-semitism.
9. "fail to catch a few Jews"
Devorah   (09.06.12)
What an uncalled for, and sarcastic presumption.
10. "damage in France"? wrong !
Andre ,   clichy, France   (09.06.12)
Hardly mentioned at all. France has got its own problems, far worse than that: Arab rioters and looters, unemployment, break-down of society..
11. Italy should know
(09.06.12)
Italy criticized Israel's security forces, who "apprehend terrorists before they leave for their mission but fail to catch a few Jews who are operating right under their noses." They were very efficient rounding up not so few Jews for their one-time buddy, Adolph"
12. #1
Mark   (09.06.12)
vandalism to any place of worship is wrong as respect for each others faiths is a sign of compassion, wisdom and true faith. Pointing fingers is not the solution. This act was wrong, take responsibility and lets hope the culprits are punished. I dont think they frightened of the Real Jews you sould become, I think they hope you do. Its the Jews that you not suppose to become, that they fear. (respect and fear is not the same.)
13. 27 people being killed in Afganistan
Isac   (09.06.12)
by the Taliban because they went to a dance party. Muslim extremists blowing up churches everywhere, in Egypt during the "Arab Spring" hundreds of Catholic worshipers being massacred while attending prayer services. And here we have that outcry including the Italian media who complain about a few ignorant hooligans in Israel. Whoww here we are really talking about fair treatment towards the State of Israel.
14. Daubing the walls of a Church
Tim ,   Brighton   (09.06.12)
Is just as bad as daubing the walls of a Synagogue or Mosque Its NOT petty graffiti as some will contend when its targeted at any Places of Worship
15. Does EU catch every criminal in days? Guard all synagogues ?
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (09.06.12)
Perhaps the creep who wrote the " few Jews" would like to present his evidence right now in a court of law!
16. This sort of behavior is a disgrace, whoever
arlene ,   israel   (09.06.12)
did it shames not only themselves, but all of us, just as those that do the same to our shauls and holy sites. They are the same lower than low. Europe will get over this, and todays news is tomorrows history, it will calm down and hope our media will do the same. It has happened, hope those slugs will be caught, but better our security do catch terrorist before hand because lets be honest, graffiti doesnt kill.
17. latrun monastery damaged
Shulamith ,   Israel   (09.06.12)
Interesting article - what happened to innocent until proven guilty - what happened to catch the guilty party before you accuse him - where is the actual evidence that this IS in fact a Tag Mechir attack (not Meir), this is putting the wagon before the horse - find the guilty, get some actual evidence, bring him/them to court and find them guilty on actual evidence and please let Mr Somfalvi write again about the matter - whenever writers are proven incorrect never an apology, never sorry I should have thought or had evidence before I wrote. Come on Israelis - time to start loving one another, time for secular Jews to start getting to know their more religious Jewish brothers (not enemies) and vice versa and then talk again. This hatred of brother against brother in Israel is what really gives us a bad name.
18. I am appalled by the talkbacks...
PO ,   Ramat Gan, IL   (09.06.12)
... it's all a race between people, Jewish people, that try to justify or minimize this disgusting attack to another religion claiming other disgusting attacks again Jewish site elsewhere. It is exactely the same tactics used by anti-israeli people when Israeli citizens die by a Palestinian attack and they claim "but look at what Israel is doing in the Occupied Territories!". Stop it, and do it NOW!
19. Detroit Incident Silence
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (09.06.12)
Interesting where was all that concern directed towards the United States Goverment for that incident last week of the Jewish Student in Detroit who got his mouth stapled or the attack on Jews in Berlin? Silence by Europe the Left in Israel and the diplomatic corps.
20. Someone can't spell
Chan ,   FL, USA   (09.06.12)
That writing on the wall looks like "There is a Monkey" That Vav looks more like a Nun, a caligraphic mistake I would expect from someone not used to writing in hebrew.
21. "apprehend terrorists before they leave for their mission bu
JulienCK   (09.06.12)
Couldn't have said it better myself...and by the way...there is NOTHING gentle about the "fabric of life in this region," especially in Israel and the West Bank. You can thank the ZioNazi-sponsored settler terrorists for that. PM's office condemns them on one hand, and pats them on the head with the other.
22. uhm..
Ilana   (09.06.12)
The vandalism against the monatery was very very ugly and very very wrong and I inno way condone it. I abhor it. That being cleared, the reaction of "European whomevers" is highly exaggerated and smells really rotten. Catch a few "Jews"? why not people? ANd when graves, buildings, synagogues, rabbis. Jews, Israeli towns are singled out due to their Jewishness and bombarded with violence, these same mionisters are rather quiet. Nobody came to me to say sorry anyhow. It looks like an excuse for them to vent their hatred. Sick.
23. Since there are no suspects yet,
A ,   Belgium   (09.06.12)
lets assume that arabs desecrated the monastery in order for Jews to be blamed. Lets assume they are caught, stand trial ( as would never happen in an arab land), and are deemd guilty without a doubt. I assume the European leaders who are so quick to blame Jews will suddenly become extremely quiet...and ashamed, hopefully.
24. Settler Mafia code of silence more proof of their sick minds
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.06.12)
25. #20 "Someone can't spell"
Robert ,   Australia   (09.06.12)
With Israel being 89th in the educational stakes who do you think can't spell?
26. Roman Catholic Church should clean herself first!
Reginald ,   G. Britain   (09.06.12)
Whilst she remained silent on the slaughtering of Christians in Nigeria,Sudan,Somalia,Syria,Iraq,Iran,Saudi Arabia,Egypt, the entire middle east, even the recent arrest of eleven year old girl in Pakistan,on false charges of burning the terror manual, she is here raising a moral issue on why Israel failed to apprehend, alleged Jewish minors, for vandalism of a monastery. The question I would like to ask the Vatican,is building more important than thousands of Christians slaughtered by your Muslim brethren that pope John Paul kissed the book of Koran, and followed by his predecessor,as a "holy book". Yet it is Koran that inspire violence against Christian, and Vatican has been silent, only to break her silence when it is Israel. This is hypocrisy and double standard. Also the issue of paedophil priesthood, financial impropriety, and investigation of pope's butler are not anything of moral issue needing cleansing either. Physician heal thyself first before pontificating to anyone else. This is anti-semitism practiced by the Roman Catholic Establishment.
27. no worries
european   (09.06.12)
"... causing grave damage to Israel's image..." lets be honest - that image could hardly be worse than it is, anyway. don't worry. don't pay attention to anyone. go on, antagonize, destroy, burn, do what you like and what you do well.
28. #5, Please Catholicism is not Christianity.
Reginald ,   G. Britain   (09.06.12)
Catholicism is diametrically opposed to Judeo-Christian faith. Both are like two parallel lines in geometry that cannot intersect. Catholicism and Islam are same, and agree, they are both compliment of the other. They are both Antisemitic, Antichrist religion, created by man to reach GOD. They are false way, they both worshipp the creation, as icons of images of dead popes, and saints, and chants prepared prayers using beads, and rosary. Therefore,I disagree with your comment, that Israel is having problem with Christian. No it has always being with Islam and Catholicism.
29. it's just grafiti...
Ariksan ,   Zurich   (09.06.12)
Yeah it's not nice. But lets keep this grafitis in perspective for what they are... I grew up in Switzerland, in a suburb of Zurich - there were Swastika grafitis all over the place - one on my way to school. Local authorities never took any meassures and ignored them nor where were they repainted. They probably are still in place. At the end it's just gravitis, probably from teens. Didn't hear any diplomatic envoys complain about them yet....
30. #6 Not really...
Alex   (09.06.12)
Just look at the Neturei Karta vandalism of Yad Vashem, but oops they could rather be considered left wingers.
