2. Backwards
Ron ,   Zichron, Israel   (09.08.12)
The article states: "The Jewish state is Iran's arch-enemy". This is backward. It is untrue that Israel bears any ill will towards the Iranians other than as an act of self preservation. Iran and Israel had excellent relations under the Shah and will do so again once the dictatorial and hateful mullahs are gone.
3. "Swift retaliation?"
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.08.12)
How, pray tell? That, by the way, constitutes an open threat to a nation state. It would be interesting to see the international reaction. I suspect that a great many countries that will tolerate the open threats to Israel by Iran will not be nearly as charitable with respect to theats made to Canada.
4. Canada
John ,   Montreal   (09.08.12)
Canada is the greatest friend to Israel, far greater than its traditional ally, the U.S. Canada to its detriment, has been taking courageous steps to further world peace. Thank you Canada and Mr. Harper.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman has not threatened Canada at all. What was the need to threaten,to start with? The caption on the above article needs to be ammended.

"Swift retaliation" constitutes a threat. But what else can one expect from the world's leading state sponsor of terror and meddler in the internal affairs of other countries? What else can one expect from a country that has sent troops to Syria to bolster its regime? The international community has grown quite tired of the criminal regime in Iran. I'd say their days are numbered. And the big winners will be the Iranian people, who have grown quite tired of life in the Islamofascist "paradise."
8. O Canada : The true north strong and free

God keep our land, glorious and free, O Canada we stand on guard for thee.
9. Harper, you make us proud to be Canadians!

I hope now other western countries will follow Canada's courageous example, and marginalize the evil regime.

one hundred nations, all UN members, met in Tehran. Iran is not a stage for propaganda. Iran is a viable and important nation. Morons like you need to realize this sooner than later.

13. Quebec Election & Iran
Dave ,   Quebec, Canada   (09.08.12)
Two events take place very close in time. 1- Iranian born Amir Khadir the violently antisemitic, Khomeneist, is reelected to the Quebec National Assembly representing the radical separatist annglophobic party, Quebec Solidaire. 2 - A few days later the Harper Government severs all ties with Tehran. Coincidence? Has Iran been meddling in Canadian electoral politics by providing support through its embassy to subversive Iranian born politician in Quebec? What does the Harper government know that we don't?
14. Thank You Mr. Harper

Iran is the queen ant in a hive of ants. The hive is still at the mercy of the spiders no matter how tough it acts.

Even though whether he stays in power is a Canadian matter and no one else's decision, I hope that the Conservatives will be kept in power under him. Sorry about the run-on sentence.

Now that is very interesting and insightful. It sure would be in the interest of Iran to have a weak Canada preoccupied with internal matters. And it would also be in their interest to have a political bridgehead in North America. What next an Iran sponsored terror campaign like the one they led in Argentina? The actions of the Canadian government are not a whimsy - they are a bold reaction to a threat by a foreign malevolent power.
18. Canada.

Thank you Canada you will be blessed!.Iran is run by lunatic, evil ideology!

No one was napping during Iran's hatefest. But Iran is neither viable nor important. It is a toothless, clawless peacock -- whose feathers have all fallen out, leaving a naked and tyrannical theocratic state sponsor of terror -- that all normal countries disdain. More countries will follow Canada's example. Of that you may be certain.
20. #11 Those countries must take note
Cynthia ,   USA   (09.08.12)
The minute they step out of line, Iran will threaten them with retaliation. The Iranian regime is running in circles. They want to be at war with the west but they need the west as trade partners. If the west doesn't comply and behave in a submissive fashion, the regime fires off threats.
