Uno Is always against israel Ban Ki-Moon you know nothing about the middle ist the best you shut up.Do better something about iran, and what happening in syria you are silent.Your day will also come. AM ISRAEL CHAI
2. Ban listen to the Arabs
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.10.12)
Hamas is already claiming life is better in Gaza than Judea and Samaria. Guess Ban doesn't know too much. What about the border with Egypt? How about the fact that Lebanon and Syria have the even harsher restrictions on Israel than we have with Gaza for only 63 years.
3. I can't see his apeish face anymore,
Mira ,   Vienna   (09.10.12)
it really makes me feel sick. This guy is out of all proportions against the Worlds problems. Get him out of UN so that this organisation can become a meaningfull one again!
4. Ban Ki-Looney
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (09.10.12)
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urges Israel to ease Strip's plight?!? I wouldn't call a terrorist's shorteage of ammunition a "plight".
5. Any demands to improve Hamas rockets?
Miron ,   USA   (09.10.12)
6. Gaza blockade
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.10.12)
What a shameless demand ! Jews must ease the terrorist acts, to kill israelis. My counterproposal : even the wandering storks must be shot down, flying over the israeli- gaza border.
7. UN useless, moon useless, tell them to come catch terrorists
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (09.10.12)
8. Israel would normalise relations TOMORROW
Tim ,   Brighton   (09.10.12)
1. If there was a CAST IRON Guarantee there would be NO MORE attacks of any kind from Gaza 2. Hamas recognized the State of Israel and changed its Charter that calls for Israels destruction If not the Status Quo continues..
9. birth control issues
Jonny ,   Cape Town   (09.10.12)
I can think of many things which are totally unrelated to the blockade which will "condemn the area's people to lasting poverty" 1 Starting with the UN's reluctance to educate and introduce to the population birth control issues. With or without a blackade, and by the UN's own admssion, in a few years, the area will not be able to sustain the population explosion. The Red Cross and other relief organisations have already stated that there is no lack of humanitarian aid coming through the borders. 2 Who exactly is going to guarantee that no weapons are brought through these open borders. The UN's policing in Lebanon has not inspired any confidence in the UN's role.
10. Help Ban to realize his dream
BEN JABO ()MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (09.10.12)
Israel should lift the ban, PROVIDING that Iran allows unhindered inspections of all of her Nuclear sites, without exception or further delay Otherwise, Gaza will try to sneak in more boats loaded with arms & ammo, as were the Karin A & Santorini
11. UN/Arab League: organize NONVIOLENT TRANSFER for a NEW LIFE.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.10.12)
12. What "siege" is Ban and Reuters talking about?
John Shreffler ,   Vienna VA USA   (09.10.12)
A siege is when one side starves the other into submission. Gaza is fed and clothed by massive amounts of world wide aid which comes by sea into Ashdod, Israel, gets inspected for weapons, and is forwarded by truck caravan to Gaza. Since Gaza chooses to be at war with Israel, inspecting for weapons is not unreasonable. Gaza has no port large enough to handle this much cargo directly. How many starving Gazans has anyone seen? Gazans are among most obese of all Arabs.
13. Israeli lives are secondary
Phil ,   USA   (09.10.12)
Any secretary general needs Arab and muslim support or else they will lose their job so ban's idiotic pronouncements make sense. He obviously doesn't care about right and wrong as he only cares about keeping his useless and well-paying job. Gaza is not impoverished because of Israel. By electing an Islamist grou to power, the population has chosen war over prosperity because there is absolutely nothin that would prevent a peaceful Gaza from having well-payig jobs if they stopped the terrorism against Israel. Shooting rockets at civilians in Israel does not help end poverty and claiming that terrorizing Israelis in Sderot is defensive is both immoral and a lie. The inhabitnts of gasza, just like the Germans in world war II are getting what tghey deserved for electing a savage and murderous government..
14. #3. UN was never significant
Essie HaKohane ,   Florida. USA   (09.10.12)
It is ineffective, corrupt, virulently anti Israel and anti Semitic. The league of nations was more effective only because they weren't corrupt. That's a sad commentary on history and the UN. Solution: upgrade the UN building in NYC and convert it to condos. It will then be of service to mankind.
15. A SUGGESTION FOR BAN
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERAHOUSE   (09.10.12)
GO PLAY WITH THE TRAFFIC .
16. FUCK OFF BAN
DA RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED OPERAHOUSE   (09.10.12)
17. 'Israel must lift Gaza siege' - yeah and you need a clue.
leo ,   usa   (09.10.12)
18. Mr Moon you need to go and live on the moon
World citizen. ,   everybody.   (09.10.12)
19. Ban Ki-Moon with due respect,
Ahmet Gündogan ,   Switzerland   (09.10.12)
you are talking nonsense. Gaza is not under siege by Israel but under siege by Hamas. Since Hamas and Hitzppollat are your friends I understand your biased policy.
20. His words are true
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (09.10.12)
but Ban Ki Moon must factor in the fact that the entire economy of Southern Israel is propped up by the continuing siege of Gaza. A lot of Israelis are getting very rich, along with members of Hamas on the backs of the suffering of millions of gazans. Hence the recent rocket attacks from Gaza on Israel, and the fact Iron Dome was turned off. It was getting a little to quite for all concerned.
21. Lift Seige on North Korea!
Matti Green ,   Portland, OR   (09.10.12)
In fairness, I would like to see the U.N. Secretary-General, Ban Ki Moon call for a parallel end to the "seige" his country, South Korea, has maintained for 62 years on the starving nation next door, North Korea. The border between the two nations remains the most heavily fortified in the world. His criticisms of Israel and appraisal of the situation on the ground in Gaza reflect either his lack of understanding or his prejudice.
22. Gaza fires rockets on Israel, UN response: Remove blockade
Alex   (09.10.12)
It's pure insanity, if this is not a proof that the majority of gentiles have gone nuts I don't know what to say...
23. the UN considers it a legal blockade
zionist forever   (09.10.12)
Oops UN Secretary General calls for an end to a blockade that the organisation he is head of and is traditionally is anti Israel considers legal. Let Hamas & the rest of the palestinians rot in hell. Maybe once the money stops flowing so freely as it is slowly starting to do after 20 years then they will be more open to logic politically. Israel should start by making it public knowledge to the ordinary arab on the street that whilst the PA is not paying its employees because they say there is no money they not only give terrorists in Israeli jails a salary but they just got a raise. See how long the PA & its support for terror lasts when the public realise how the money is being wasted at their expense.
24. Condeming rocketfire proves why Israel needs the blockade!
Aharon   (09.10.12)
25. Gaza Must Stop Terror Attacks
emanon ,   USA   (09.10.12)
26. What is this brainless rogue suggesting?
Mira ,   Vienna   (09.10.12)
That Israel should commit suicide by letting shiploads of rockets and ammunition into Gaza freely? Is that this guy's vision of another "final solution?" Go IDF and destroy every single tunnel and every single ammunition depot, even if it takes weeks, Egypt will not do it, quite the contrary, she will try to strengthen Hamas despite of all sweet talking so far. Don't trust any Arab and don't for people's sake trust UN!
27. Hm, seems like Navi Pillay writes his speeches.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (09.10.12)
He does not seem to have the intelligence to recognise the stupidity of his statements. Somebody writes his speeches / statements and he just reads them. So he looks and sound stupid while the writer sits back in satisfaction. Then of course, he is well rewarded for his compliance.
28. The Muslim-Arab territory of Gaza is open for business...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (09.10.12)
...through its Muslim-Arab state of Egypt. Israel has neither moral nor legal right to allow the Muslim-Arabs of Gaza to enter Israel, the very country whose leaders in the territory continue, daily, to fire rockets and missiles at the Jewish civilian population of Israel. It is high time Mr. Ban and like minded people accepted that Gaza is in the situation that its residents chose to be, through elections. and Israel has no responsibility to resolve this predicament the Muslim-Arabs created for themselves.
29. Israel will have to breifly retake Gaza to get rid of Hamas
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (09.10.12)
It can be done with minimal IDF casualties & it must be done for the long-term security of Israel. The people of southern Israel are sick of living in fear of constant rocket attacks & now that there is hostile leadership in Egypt it's even more important. Hamas cannot be allowed to stay in power & act as a proxy for Iran. It will not be easy & unfortunately Hamas will use Gazans as human shields, but it must be done, sooner or later.
30. Remember Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, Mr. Moon?
Carl ,   USA   (09.10.12)
Think back to 2005 - there was no "seige" when Israel unilaterally disengaged from Gaza and left behind a wealth of resources for the Gazans to build their economy (think high-tech greenhouses). Within weeks the greenhouses were dismantled, and a couple years later Hamas took over and began an unending terror campaign. Hamas caused the blockade with rockets and terror. Stop the terror and the blockade with also stop.
