1. Don't see what the problem is? they sell and the egyptians
Peter ,   Vienna-Austria   (09.10.12)
Buy...So what?
2. And of course they will need more American money to pay.....
Bill ,   Chicago   (09.10.12)
for this oil.... Just keep writing checks Obama....
3. What isolation?! Read the papers.
Persian CAT   (09.10.12)
All of Iran's major energy clients have received "waivers" from the US to continue purchasing Iranian oil. We're talking about OIL, remember.
4. #1, you are right
courtney ,   usa   (09.10.12)
there is no problem, they are free to buy Iranian oil, however they must deal with the american and global reaction if they choose to do so.
5. well Obama can exempt Egypt
(09.10.12)
well Obama can exempt Egypt as he has done over 20 countries that buy oil from Iran. Obama's "sanctions" are leaking like a sieve.
6. Buyer without money.
Jusanz77. ,   Vzla.   (09.10.12)
The problem is not bought and sold, or shake hands for public relations. The problem is that Egypt has a constant cash flow to pay. Tourism falling, falling Suez Canal. Gas, losing to Israel as a client, and Syria without much cash to pay. We'll see how long this relationship buyer without money.
7. Better than selling arms or drugs.
Ken ,   Burma   (09.10.12)
8. #4 What exactly IS the American and global reaction?
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.10.12)
The US is completely broke and can't do a d--n thing. The rest of the world simply doesn't care; they'd probably like to buy Iranian oil themselves.
9. What's The Big Deal the ILLEGAL regime in tehran
(09.10.12)
Does what ever they want, besides b.H.o. Probably put them together!
10. NOTHING TO DO WITH ISOLATION
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.10.12)
Ever since the dictator was overthrown, both Iran and Egypt has tacitly agreed to restore some kind of relationship.Several delegations visited each others country and trade was discussed. The deal, although, not materialised, has nothing to do with the sanctions or for that matter,Iran's desperation.Statistics from independent sources confirm gradual restoration of Iran's export of crude oil.Egypt is one amongst several countries which will be new customers for its crude oil.The article tends to draw different conclusions which are not correct.
11. IRANIAN OIL IS SELLING WITH............#8
MAHMOOD ,   LONDON-UK   (09.10.12)
Only the way the trade is conducted is somewhat different.USA is trying its best and has somehow succeeded in hampering normal trade of Iran. But in the long run all will be ok and business as usual.
12. #5 Oh yes,
Mira ,   Vienna   (09.10.12)
exactly because Obama himself is leaking like a sieve not being able to hold anything of worth back from going down the drain
13. # 6 Big Daddy will pay
Mira ,   Vienna   (09.10.12)
or the World Bank, both eager to spend their money on the lunatics in the ME instead of their own citizens....they will say welcome to the New Caliphate and throw them out afterwards
14. That will be fine!
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.10.12)
Egypt can then kiss $4.0 billion in annual aid and American military hardware good-bye forever.
15. To: No. 8
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.10.12)
The United States Congress can -- and will -- pull the financial rug out from under Egypt. In a heartbeat. Congress can also withhold arms shipments to Egypt. That's what the United States can do. I trust that answers your question.
16. Look at Iran, that's how you do BDS.
leo ,   usa   (09.11.12)
17. to #14
sealift67 ,   northern calif   (09.11.12)
your response typifies your style of over-simplification. The $2.3BN in US aid is codified by treaty. US would respond, yet in much milder fashion. State Dept. is in a delicate tap dance with Egypt govt. They are trying to ride a middle path hoping Egypt will not completely radicalize and the military will ride this out. Your idea would give the radicals the ammunition they seek. Hillary is a good deal smarter than you, as well as the prior cold war and neo-con gamers.
18. 14 - Egypt can then kiss $4.0 billion in annual aid and ,...
split ,   US   (09.11.12)
That aid and military hardware is buying you peace, pinhead ,... Those 4 billions constitutes a chump change for 90 million population with 8 million working abroad and sending money back home ,... Russian, Chinese, German made toys can replace the toys from US.
19. #15 And you don't think the Saudis...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.11.12)
...are willing to fill the void? Or the Chinese? Or the Russians? Pres. Morsi is not stupid, he'll do the outmost of his country's strategic position. If it's money you want, then why turn to Washington D.C. anyway?
20. CUTE MORSI is going to help
Iranian Hunter   (09.11.12)
Iran by buying the oil ? But at the same time weakening Iran by destroying Assad, and at the same time wanted to get US aids, and at the same time wanted to make Saudi happy and weaken Iran, and at the same time wanted to spread strong economy and human rights, and at the same time spreading shariah laws and makes women and non muslims as second class citizen. CUTE Morsi always makes me smile
21. To: No. 17
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.11.12)
Are you TRULY that ignorant? What "treaty?" Please tell me the terms and conditions of this imainary "treaty" and also when it was ratified by the Senate. Your scenario would be hysterically funny if it weren't so pathetic. "... hoping Egypt will not completely radicalize and the military will ride this out." Why, yes, a wing and a prayer -- and if we're wrong? What's a gift of several billion dollars annually and top-of-the-line armaments to a country $16 trillion in debt? What, indeed? Oh -- by the way -- my toenail parings are smarter than Hillary Clinton.
22. The business of the century
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.11.12)
In compensation Egypt will export Sahara sand to Iran.
23. spitting in American's face
ej ,   tlv   (09.11.12)
Thanks to Obama's wimpy foreign policy, the Egyptians, if they concldue this agregious deal with a rogue state! If they do, cut ALL aide to Egypt! It's our tax payer money that is being invested to see a democratic change in Egypt that will bring it closer to Western, liberal interests. Let's hope Romney wins and restores American foreign policy!
24. To: No. 19
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.11.12)
The Chinese and the Russians? Yes. Looks good. Sounds good. Just like the WASA. Chinese and Russian materiel are the modern-day WASA. Remember what happened to the WASA, or must I recite your own country's history? That would be truly pathetic, by the way. But not entirely surprising, given your acumen about anything.
25. #3 - and Iran will be paying with, devalued Rials?
William ,   Israel   (09.14.12)
Perhaps you need to read the entire paper and not just the stories you like. Iranian leaders have admitted recently that the sanctions are extremely biting.
26. #8 - "the US is completely broke"
William ,   Israel   (09.14.12)
and yet they are doing much, much better than Europe today, who is still threatened with a breakup of their Union.
