1. Didn't we go through this, this year?
Israeli 2   (09.11.12)
Besides, let them go and get recognized. These people are still part of Jordan. I thought the U.N. came to Israel a few months back asking these people to leave - to Jordan?
2. Who needs another failed state in the region?
nadav ,   tlv   (09.11.12)
The Mideast has enough failed, terror states, thanks to the legacy of Franco-British imperialism. With Libya, Sudan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia, and of course Jordan, which is a fake state created by the British, there is NO need for another failed State! Jordan=Palestine. Overthrow the British appointed monarch in Jordan and replace it with a democratic republic that can divide the West Bank with Israel. Gaza can be independent or go BACK to being an Egyptian province, as it had been for thousands of years. That's the formula for a just and lasting peace!
3. Our Mistake
Palestinian   (09.11.12)
isrealis should not have any taste of peace any where in Palestine or even worldwide untill Palestinians have Freedom and take their homes back from immgrants of Europe
4. That will be the day when
Elizabeth   (09.11.12)
a non-existing country called Palestine will be a member of the UN. The so-called Palestinians ARE accepted as a race of people (one musn't forget that they are from the deserts all over the world), then, and according to the bible, I will know that something in my Bible is very far wrong!
5.  #3: You've been misinformed
concerned ,   LA, USA   (09.11.12)
1. 95% of Palestinians already live under rule of the Palestinian Authority pursuant to the Oslo Accords... If you don't feel free, take it up with your own government, not Israel. 2. Palestinians can't take their homes "back" because in most cases these homes no longer exist. Most were bulldozed over during the 48-49 war when Palestinian villages became forward operating bases for foreign Arab troops. 3. Most of these "homes" were rudimentary mud brick huts, without plumbing, running water or electricity. They don't conform to Israeli housing standards and are unlikely to be still standing, let alone occupied by "European immigrants." 4. More than 90% of the housing in Israel today didn't even exist in 1948. "taking homes back" would naturally mean stealing. 5. More than half of Israeli Jews are descendants of Jewish refugees fleeing Arab persecution, not Europeans.
6. # 4: the bible also does not mention the USA, or the UK
Harmen Breedeveld ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (09.11.12)
Dear Elisabeth, The Bible also does not mention the USA, or the UK, or Russia, or the Netherlands, or the Chinese ... Do these nationalities therefore not exist? Should these countries therefore not exist? The bible DOES mention Philistines. Should they get their own country now? A lot has changed in the 2.000 years since the last entry was made into the bible :-)

The Philistines were Greeks. The Romans named the area Philistina to eradicate the connection with the Jews. (They failed.) They didn’t have to eradicate a connection with the arabs, as there weren’t any. The arabs first came in about 672AD with the Moslem conquest. A lot has changed since 672AD, a bit short of your 2,000 years. Oh, and the last entry of the Jewish bible was a lot more than 2,000 years ago. You need to do some serious reading of history.

The bible DOES speak of Russia, China and the EU in prophecy. But you are correct in saying that the US is not specifically mentioned. I have heard many reasons for this on a theological level but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
9. The Geneva Convention?
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.11.12)
Ah, so that's where he's headed. For those who may be unaware, the Geneva Convention only applies to nation-states. It does not apply to non-sovereign territories, which is why Israel's settlements in Judea and Samaria are fully legal. The best way to thwart this underhanded ploy -- and what an ego at work, I must say -- Abbas thinks that the United Nations should extend "non-member status" when the United Nations Charter specifically states that membership is open exclusively to nation-states -- would be for Israel to simply annex Judea and Samaria and repatriate all its Arabs -- citizens of Jordan -- to Jordan. Haven't we had enough terrorism and violence from Arabs in Judea and Samaria? Let them ply their trade in Jordan, perhaps by unseating the half-British, half-Iraqi king and his Kuwaiti bride.
