If some of these weapons have been transferred to Hezbollah, and Hezbollah were to so much as attempt to use one, the most likely outcome will be that Lebanon will be destroyed. And so will Syria. Make absolutely no mistake about that.

Don't believe a word any of these so called defectors say probably just wants to make himself look like the man of morals in the media. Assad was going to use gas against the people and so I couldn't morally sitback and let it happen so I defected. Notice he is comassionate about the idea of Syrians being gassed but if Assad gassed Israel well hey no big deal and even better they will respond go to war and topple Assad for us. What he says is certainly feasible but can't trust it because of who it is giving the speech.

I have not been able to find any evidence that Hafez Assad ever used chemical weapons although I wouldn't put is past him but there are arab states have defaintly used them before. In 1963 during the Yemen civil war Egypt used mustard gas against the forces from North Yemmen because Nasser was supporting the south. In 1988 Saddam Hussain gassed the Kurds in Halabja and later against the Iranians in the Iran / Iraq war. Assad has threatened to use them if attacked and if his back is to the wall then I can certainly see him using them against Israel & the rebels. The arabs are just a bunch of thugs. We should be taking a pre emptive strike and destroying Assad's chemical weapons facilities now just incase Assad decides to go down in a blaze of glory be remembered by arab historians as a hero. Better to preempt now rather than retaliating while they count how many hundreds have been killed or before they can reach terrorist hands. Come on Barak & Bibi your willing to attack Iran to delay their nuclear program and they don't even have their nukes yet. Your not willing to take preevptive action against Assad who we know has some nasty stuff and is just next door.

Alas Israel, Turkey and the US are not having the right men at the right moment. Even if they stop hesitating they will make the wrong choices. Israel is getting weaker every day. The case looks complex until they act, the sooner the better the outcome. Perhaps the 2 leaders have a European talking-virus infection. There is no time to wait for the other to act.
