31. The Friday Paliganda dump
BH ,   Iowa   (09.21.12)
Right on schedule.
32. Where do Pals accept Jewish Israel for the long term?
Sam ,   Canada   (09.21.12)
Whether you are on the left or on the right you have to accept things as they are. It's normal to want peace. It's abnormal to put words of peace into Palestinian mouths when they don't exist. Maybe one day the Palestinians will accept a Jewish Israel. It's not now and sensible Jews will act accordingly.
33. Another Leftist trying to save a dying ideology
William ,   Israel   (09.21.12)
His claims are putting the cart before the horse. Wasn't Oslo supposed to reverse the so-called "occupation"? Didn't the "Palestinians" agree to end attacks on Israel, accept Israel in co-existence and peace, and accept land swaps which would include major settlement blocs while others would be removed? Didn't Arafat get 99.7% of everything he asked for, even some faux refugees returning to Israel - a place most of them have never even been to? Didn't the world offer to bankroll this whole operation to the tune of Trillions?? Israel accepted these conditions, the ink was barely dry in 1999 when Arafat made plans for violence in order to gain more concessions. In 2000, it was Arafat who threw it all away - amid a period of a fast-growing "Palestinian" economy, free movement of "Palestinians" as no roadblocks or security walls were in place. And yet - this twit author, a dreg from the Left who still hasn't realized the folly of their failed ideology, still insists that the "occupation" is what destroyed Oslo, and not Arab racist violence focused on destroying Israel. Arafat admitted Oslo was a cover to pacify Israel and take more land later. Why doesn't Danny Caravan?
34. "Solution to refugee problem"= flooding Israel with pals
ab   (09.21.12)
according to Danny&pal ,confirmed repeatedly by Abbas&Co : No enouncing "right of return"
35. There is no occupation.
Ezer   (09.21.12)
Who is occupying Areas A & B? The Palestinians of course. This writer is nuts.
36. I told you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tiki ,   belgium   (09.21.12)
It's ALL Israel's fault! The so called Palestinians, except a few flaws, kept their part of the deal to the letter. It's a good thing that this week is Jom Kippur and Mr. Caravan can go to the synagoge to ask for forgiveness for so much evil & bad behaviour on Israel's part. But, if I'm not mistaken, Mr. Caravan is not the synagoge going type but more a member of the 'blame Israel choir, so popular these days!
37. Caravan
shreff ,   Vienna VA USA   (09.21.12)
Have you ever considered bagging groceries for a living? I have no idea how anyone can look at the last 60 years of history and write something like that.
38. oslo..now I remember
steve ,   chicago   (09.21.12)
why I don't read ynet anymore. It is full of ignorant op-eds. Havent read this site in a while and my first article was this absurd rationalization for amoral equivocal and tolerance for terrorism. Intifadas occurred yet the writer glows aobout how the Palis have kept their side of the accords? A waste of cyberspace.
39. No justice in Jerusalem
michael Pielet ,   israel   (09.21.12)
The palestinian people are the Jews. Arabs are arabs. No arab terrorist state in Judea and Samaria. All arabs to be repatriated to their arab states of origin. The author of this nonsense goes with them.
40. Oslo - Missed Opportunity????
John Beflitz ,   USA   (09.21.12)
In 2000 in negotiations between Barak and Arafat at Camp David under the auspices of Bill Clinton, Barak offered Arafat half of Jerusalem, all of Gaza and an estimated 94% of the West Bank. It was rejected. In 2008, Olmert offered Arafat almost the same deal, it was rejected. It is clear that not only does the "Palestinian" leadership have no intention of accepting the existence of a Jewish State, neither do the rest of the Arab nations have that intent. To think otherwise is insanity. And if Obama is re-elected, he will continue to show his preference for the Arab nations as a whole to the detriment of Israel.
41. the peacenicks romantic ideals not realistic ones
zionist forever   (09.21.12)
ISRAEL-PA DEAL COULD HAVE LED TO FLOURISHING MIDEAST, BUT CONTINUED OCCUPATION RUINED EVERYTHING. Where is the evidence that if Oslo had continued the region would be flourishing? Oslo was not going to do anything about Lebanon, Syira, Iraq, Iran & others. Its all a romantic ideal that can't be rejected because it never happened. Oslo was the wrong approach from the start, a palestinian state of just 5000km was never and never will be viable. Its always been a dream. The best solution would have been to give Jordan a huge pay off and a small percentage of Judea & Samaria and in exchange they would have given citizenship to all the palestinians even if they didn't ask for it it would have been granted by defeault. A solution would have been imposed on the ordinary people & the PLO who were the only political body at the time would have been hunted down & smashed. Israel would have kept Judea & Samaria and provided they obey Israeli law the JORDANIANS could continue living in their homes live in their homes which were in Israeli territory although they would have no political rights in Israel. Oslo was a mistake and it didn't work because it was based on everybody acting like responsible diplomats who respect each other rather than enemies and there was no room for error which is why despite the fact oslo was signed nearly 20 years ago we are further from a diplomatic solution than ever. Lets forget the romantic illusions of having some kind of Garden of Eden within the MiddleEast if only we warder to make Oslo work
42. The 'Palestinians' can have a state
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.21.12)
Just not on any of our territory. The Arabs do not have any legal claim to any land west of the Jordan River. That is ours. The Arabs already have 99.93% of the land in the Middle East - we will keep our 0.07% regardless of what the rest of the world thinks or wants
43. This author is needs severe help
Stanley ,   NJ USA   (09.21.12)
This author clearly needs 3 things: 1. Course in history 2. Course in basic human intelligence. 3. A new job.
44. yes, the "occupation"
shloime ,   toronto, canada   (09.21.12)
the oslo accords were destroyed by the "occupation" - the plo occupation. israel should never have agreed to allow yasser arafat and his band of terrorists to occupy the territories.
45. this article is psychiatric
david ,   new york   (09.21.12)
the defintion of a delusion is a fixed irrational belief that the individual can not be convinced is wrong no matter what evidence is shown to disprove it.
46. Oslo
Alona ,   Bet Shemesh, Israel   (09.21.12)
It is amazing to me to see all the so called talk backs mostly from people who don't live here in Israel but claim to be experts nevertheless. I am so sick and tired of the occupation, of seeing poor and submissive Palestinians on building sites in Israel roaming through garbage on their way home looking for scraps for their families. The constant humiliation of the Palestinian workers that I've observed day in and day out living in Israel makes me ashamed of being an Israeli. How can we as a people live in utter "bliss" on the ruins of another people that have no right to self determination, to freemdom and of whom countless spend hours day in and day out at check points trying to get to their jobs, land etc. This is the massive existential problem Israel is facing. This is what will destroy our nation. It hash already exacted an immense price on our humanity and morality. Look at the racist attacks, the so called "Price Tags", the handling of the migrant issue. The occupation must end!
47. Unbelievable
Ignatious Mucklefutz ,   Fargo ND USA   (09.21.12)
The depth of Caravan's inaccuracies is breathtaking and questions must be raised about his connection to reality or his willful lying. Amazingly, he failed to consider the history of very generous peace offerings by Israeli governments which would have resulted in a 2 state solution. Barak and Clinton's offer was rejected out-of-hand by Arafat and no counterproposal was made. Likewise, Caravan's hero, Abbas rejected a peace offeer by Olmert. Abbas also failed to make a counter- offer. Caravan obviously has bought into the Palestinian narrative to the point where he is unable to see reality. He ignores Israel's unilateral withdrawal from Gaza and subsequent rocket attacks on Sderot and other communities, rationalizes the Palestinians terrorist attacks, and totally disregards the continuing glorification of terrorists as well as the continuing antisemitic propaganda in the Palestinian media and in the school curriculum. I think that YNET was right in publishing Caravan because it shows how bankrupt the left is and why the Israeli public has rejected the left.
48. The problem with Oslo was that...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.21.12)
...it only involved two sides in a conflict that concerns (at least) the entire Middle East. If Israel could have gotten guarantees that ALL states in the region, not just a future Palestine, would accept the Jewish state in its pre-1967 borders (a legitimate claim), then it would've been another thing. Peace only arrives when the cost of war is too high. And today it isn't too high - not for the dictator in Damascus, not for the Christian extremists in America, not for terror organizations like Hamas and Hizbollah, not for the settlers etc etc etc. So.....the conflict continues
49. #13 - so in other words...the Left hijacked Rabin's plan
William ,   Israel   (09.21.12)
and turned it into an anti-Israel, Islamic State with advantageous borders which act detrimentally to Israeli security....WITHOUT any guarantees (not that they'd be worth anything) of an end to Arab terrorism. Gee - why would the Israeli Left, funded in part by EU Socialists, want to do that?
50. #44 - many "palestinians" feel the same way about PLO
William ,   Israel   (09.21.12)
and blame Israel for allowing an outside terror group to come in and run things.
51. #44 Israel had no

53. Great Article

Accurate recap on how Israel's greed for land has soured any prospect for peace. If you want peace get those illegal settlers back to Israel where they belong......
54. UNGA Observer, no Oslo, no annex of Area C, UNSC '67 borders

55. Gonna love the talkbacks on this one.
Vlad   (09.21.12)
56. the writer ignored Israel's Camp David offer in2000
Bob Kirk ,   Orlando USA   (09.21.12)
Like so many who blame 'the occupation' for the lack of peace, the writer ignored Israel's 2000 Camp David offer of about 95% of Judah and Samaria plus Gaza and east Jerusalem. Arafat who had to be forced by President Clinton to attend the talks rejected Israel's offer of land of peae and a formal end tothe conflict. Arafat anf Hamas launched a suicide bombing war of terror against Israel rather than make peace. As Henry Kissinger noted: The Palestinians' never miss an opportunity to miss an opportuinity' for peace' - because they do not want peace. That is why the PA under Abbas has refused to negotiate with Israel since 2009. Before that Abbas refused to respond to PM Ehud Olmert's offer 2006-8 of about 98% of JUdah and Samaria plus east Jerusalem this after Israle withdrew from Gaza in2005. The PA wants to get a state from the UN without having to make peace with Israel. That way the Palestinians can have their state and remain at war with Israle forever and the worl d will not care. It will happen.
57. #46 - not just "palestinians"
William ,   Israel   (09.21.12)
Most of those workers in menial jobs are treated the same way, not just "Palestinians", so let me stop you before your self-righteous speech. Go ask why these "Palestinians" return to Israel for work, especially in settlements where they are treated better in some cases than in Israel proper. They will tell you that the similar jobs back home are so much lower paying and in worse conditions than the jobs with Israel. That's THEIR words, not mine. Most of these people arrived as part of economic migrations of the past, and were not natives of the area - as proven by British and Ottoman records. When the housing marketing in Dubai began to take a hit and thousands were laid off, these workers from India, Africa, and other places didn't claim to be natives of the land nor cry to the world that their self-determination was denied to them. They went home and took their money with them. Same here. Don't like to work in Israel - then don't work with Israel. Go to Jordan, head to Saudi Arabia, etc. Your claim that "Palestinians" have no self-determination is a complete lie. They made the decision that directed their fate each and every day. When they chose to negotiate peace, a State became a real possibility. When they chose war, they lost many benefits including freedom of movement. THEY made those decisions, not Israel, and thus, retained their self-determination. Only you make them into victims because of your own internal bias towards self-guilt, and because it's easier for you to understand the problem ("of course, no "palestinian" really wants to kill Israeli children". They're just driven to it through desperation." - pure BS). In 1999, there were no checkpoints, no security wall, and total freedom of movement. Why did that change? Arab violence!!!! So today you feel bad because there is a checkpoint that continues to save innocent lives by blocking terrorists and also inconveniences some innocents? Tell that to the victims of the Sbarro bombing, the Pesach Seder bombing in Netanya, the multiple cafe and bus bombings, and see if they share your "victim" analysis.
58. who is danny caravan?
martin ,   uk   (09.21.12)
is this the best that YNet cando? The Oslo Accords were designed to fail from the start, only Israel complied with some of the rules, while the Fakestinians complied with none! The Jew/Israel hating Norwegian clique found their left wing Israelis such as Beilin and Peres equally ignorant and believers in fairy tales., as does Caravan. no wonderdistribution of HaYom are increasing in Israel. There are already 2 states. Israel and Jordan, 3 is 1 too many.
59. Torah and ISHMAEL? Family, neighbours, but NOT in our HOUSE.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (09.21.12)
60. "Occupation"
John ,   Phila PA USA   (09.21.12)
I think you need to review your history - the land Israel "occupies" is land given to it by GOD. Check your own Talmud for this info. if anyone is occupying the land it is the palestinians, and THEY should leave.
