Hezbollah, Iran, Russia their open support for the crumbling Assad regime means that when Assad does fall the new regime won't be so welcoming towards them because they will be seen as Assad supporters so enemies of the new regime. Hezbollah could loose some of the support it has on the Syrian streets. Iran could loose Syria as a puppet. Russia could loose its naval base in Tartus. Assad is their ally and they want him to survive but they should hedge their bets and made the support for Assad more discreet.. Hezbollah & Iran should not be advertising the fact they are sending fighters to Syria and Russia should not be so open about the fact they are still delivering weapons.
2. #1 what choice do they have?

To the Sunni, Shi'ites and Alawi are only a little better than Jews. If the Sunni defeat Assad, they will genocide the Alawi (as well as Christians and Shi'te) in Syria before turning to Lebanon to genocide the Shia (and Christians) of Lebanon. Obama should have been smarter in Syria, but he wasn't, and now many Syrians will die.
3. You lay the chaos of Syria at Obama's feet, #2?

How so?
4. @ 3 you are right about number 2

because he should of said "BIBI should have been smarter in Syria, but he wasn't, and now many Syrians will die" because Israel borders Syria not the USA. All these Israeli's blame Obama for everything. When your neighbors house in on fire you don't lend him a garden hose you help put out the fire. In this case Israel is not even lending a garden hose.
5. I wonder if the European Union ....

.... is now willing to classify Hezbollah as a terrorist organization.

What's the point of being the leader of the free world if you don't act like one? What Obama could -- and should -- have done is make it very plain that the United States would brook no interference by external powers in Syria's internal strife. Of course he failed to do so, and the Iranians sent in Revolutionary Guardsmen, the fighting has spilled over into Lebanon, and Hezbollah has now inserted itself into the tumult.

A lot of Turks could die, too. The United States does have a vested interest in that, what with Turkey being a member of NATO. If the fighting spills over into the Golan, then -- and only then -- will Israel have a reason to intervene. We learned our lesson about intervention in Lebanon in the 1980s. Maronite Christians were being slaughtered in the tens of thousands, and no one gave a damn. Except Israel. Israel went into Lebanon to save them. Of course, the international community did not quite see it that way. So no more humanitarian intervention by us. Do it yourself.

Obama hated Israel so much that he ignored the Iranian threat to the US, going so far as supporting Ahmadinejad against the Green Revolution. When Obama finally realized that Iran was a strategic threat he could no longer act directly: because of his arrogance he lied to Putin about Libya so he could never get Russian support, through sheer stupidity he lost his powerful Muslim allies Egypt and Pakistan, and it was too close to his reelection campaign. To his credit, Obama finally picked the best strategy: incite a rebellion in Syria and hope for the best. If he had managed to topple Assad in time it might have been a critical blow to Iran. But despite Obama's massive aid to the "rebels", including Western forces doing quality attacks, he failed. Assad held on much longer thanks to Putin (again, Obama lied to him about Libya), thanks to the Iranians, and because Assad and his people are cornered. If Obama had supported the Green Revolution, Iran would not threaten the US and fewer people would be dead in Syria today.

You know there is little inclination among the US govt. or populace for the applying of yet more effort and resources into the swirling cauldron of BS that is the ME. Forbidding the meddling of external forces in Syria? Well, the flow of personnel and weaponry from Persia & Hez was simply going to occur, by hook or by crook, regardless of US displeasure or any move to halt it. Obama keeps a relative distance from Syria, and wisely so, for we have enough scenarios on our international plate as is, and we will put our arm no further in toward an uncertain end. We will dabble in Syria, but ever so gingerly, cautiously. We will not overtly impose our will upon the Syrian bedlam to try and arrange "outcome". Realpolitik restraint.
