Laws are constantly being challenged. Today, The Supreme Court is in session. As a democracy, we are evolving constantly through our laws and how they are applied, challenged, and finally, decisions are made to correct the oversights or neglected people with a compliant whose subject is addressed. We settled slavery through a bloody civil war, survived Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor, 9-11, several Presidential assassinations, the Great depression, and, there is a law you haven't mentioned, the Laws of the G-d re: Israel. If I may, no 'law abiding' soul wants to stir the wrath of G-d. His Laws are all that really matter. Our laws change, not His.
32. Beduins
pnina ,   tsafon   (10.01.12)
ok, so it wasn't legal that they settled on this place, but they've lived there now for 60 years as otherwise law-abiding loyal citizens. Can't the Israeli government find another patch of sand in that big empty desert to develop a new town without forcefully removing people from their homes?
33. #12 - so that means the rule of law can be ignored?
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
What 21st century are you hoping to reside in when laws can be broken at will? Let me know how you feel when someone decides to squat in your home.
34. #17 - and if Jewish or Druze veterans squatted on land
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
would you feel the same way? The rule of law should be imposed regardless of the ethnic background or service in the IDF. Otherwise, what semblence of a democracy do we really have in Israel?
35. #19 - And native Americans have been there for thousands
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
but if a tribe showed up in a public park and pitch tents, declaring it their land, the same thing would happen. The rule of law is just that, and requesting differently is nothing less than Apartheid. Your ignorance abounds in your posts. Many Jews and others have been removed from property they didn't own in Israel, or buildings demolished if they were built without permits.
36. #20 - not so, but the land is PRIVATE
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
and under the owner's discretion, it will be developed. If it were public land apportioned for a joint village, that is quite another issue.
37. #27 - Bedouins treated the same in Egypt, Jordan
William ,   Israel   (10.01.12)
Their nomadic lifestyle has largely subsided because of the nation-State concept introduced centuries ago. The Bedouins also cannot go out and claim land as their own, simply by squatting on it, in Egypt or Jordan. So why does Israel have to suffer while Arab States get a free pass? Sounds like racism to me. This particular plot of land was bought in 1935 before the State of Israel came into being, so your accusation is unwarranted. Israel built several villages for Beoduin - some partook and some didn't, but sitting on stolen land doesn't serve any reason purpose and hurts ALL 7 million of Israel's citizens.
38. #19 how long have Jews lived on that land?
DANNY ,   America   (10.01.12)
My history books tell me the Jews lived there 3000 years plus. That surely trumps arabs claims.

Articles like this make me really not like Israelis. We take and take and will never live next to somebody in peace
40. #39 sitting on stolen land doesn't serve any reason
Mike ,   Auckland NZ   (10.03.12)
Sitting on stolen land appears to serve a purpose for the State of Israel and hurts all of Palestinians and Beduins, not Israelis - they benefit.
41. Israeli expansion is illegal and morally reprehensible
David Evans ,   Vancouver   (10.22.12)
No matter how one tries to justify this, it is land theft and it is wrong: http://www.veteranstoday.com/2011/11/29/how-palestine-became-israel/palestinian-loss-of-land-1946-2005/
42. Israel's legal and religious illegitimacy
David Evans ,   Vancouver   (10.22.12)
Israel is illegitimate. The UN DID NOT give it legitimacy in 1948, and many Jewish people also know that Israel is an abomination according to Judaism's most Holy Book: http://www.countercurrents.org/hart050410.htm http://www.jewsagainstzionism.com/
