31. American interference
lightharry ,   New York   (10.02.12)
It seems that every banana nation wants America to fight a war for their poorly thought out reasons.
32. If Obama decides
lightharry ,   New York   (10.02.12)
Zilkha did not mention that the attempt by Netanyahu to change the direction of the election against Obama was to about 80 percent of the American population an unfortunate attack on our freedom. Put Adelson in the picture who told us all our vote does not matter and then Israel has the mess that it has been looking for.
33. @#17
lightharry ,   New York   (10.02.12)
With your way of thinking it is time for Israel to be thrown under the bus. Think for a second American boys dying for types like you.
34. @#23
lightharry ,   New York   (10.02.12)
George Bush was a friend of the ben Laden family and no one is interested in pursuing that story.
35. The Real Reason
Ali ,   Ramallah - Palestine   (10.02.12)
The real reason that the West (US and EU) understand well that the Iranians don't have a military program, and Israel push for destroying Iran for other reasons. Mean while, Israel does not think to offer any compromise on the Palestinian issue, this is very important for the West as a stability issue in the region.
36. No worries
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.02.12)
Israel will take care of it on its own. Be interesting to see the reaction of the United States when Iran counters an Israeli pre-emptive strike by lobbing a couple of missiles at a United States base or at U.S. naval vessels in the Gulf. Any inaction by the United States will be interpreted in the Arab and Moslem world as fear and weakness, and each and every United States embassy, consulate or other asset anywhere in the world will become fair game. But -- hey -- that would be the United States' problem; not Israel's.
37. To: No. 10
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.02.12)
You're complimenting a different "Sarah B." Surely you cannot think that the factually incorrect and grammatically inaccurate post was composed by me! Never mind the immature political analysis made by someone who has never been to the United States. Besides, I am not unhealthily obsessed with Prime Minister Netanyahu. The poster at No. 4 clearly has some serious issues in that regard.
38. Democratic Jews
Ed ,   USA   (10.02.12)
What's missing from the analysis is that American Jews overwhelmingly still support Obama and the Democratic Party. This is because what it means to be "Pro Israel" is changing and changing fast. The old quid pro quo that American Jews wouldn't criticize Israeli politics and vice versa clearly has ended. Evidence of disrespect of diaspora Jews was made clear by the pandering of Netanyahu towards Romney, with whom American Jews share no values or vision ... and by the patently offensive billboards urging Israelis to come home before they're too influenced by us. Now American Jews can see clearly that to support Israel, they need to make it clear when Israeli policies are self destructive. It's never before been so necessary as it is now, with the current ruling coalition. Times are a changing, and a true friend of Israel needs to speak up when things are badly handled.

what in heaven would you have bibi do any differently. he's the keeper of his flock and under constant pressure to keep his country out of harms way. please give me a break, this guy's one teriffic leader.I totally agree with this article, not with your comments
40. The Riots were no in reaction to a UTube movie
Edward ,   New York USA   (10.02.12)
seen only 300 times and not available to most technologically deficient muslim households. As the placards displayed in front of the US embassy in Cairo stated, "Take a picture Obama, We are all Osama" . These demonstrations on9/11 were a reaction to the targeted killings by the US of bin Laden and other terrorists. While Obama will own up to authorizing these killings for a favorable response in the US, he won't own up to these killings when riots occur. He is the worst US Pesident, he has no backbone, he needs to be liked, that's why he spends more time on late night TV than meeting with foreign leaders or working with Congress. I'd vote for Mickey Mouse rather than suffer another four year with him. Dump him. Vote Romney Ryan.
41. You forgot the main reason
Murat ,   Ankara, Turkey   (10.02.12)
There is another, key reason you did not mention as to why the US doesn't feel it needs to attack Iran -- Economic war will do the job a military confrontation would not. With an ever tightening economic noose around Iran's neck, why shoot at the heart and make a bloody mess out of it? Strangulation does take a bit more time but, when well applied, is quiet, tidy and lethal. This morning the USD was at nearly 40,000 rials, down 14% in two days. That's what will bring Iran down, not a military conflict. As the american president Clinton famously said: "It's the economy, stupid!".
42. It's Crystal Clear: Israel lost its status
W. ,   Beirut, LB   (10.02.12)
as a regional super power and strategic reserve for the West when it failed in erradicating the Shiite terror org Hizballah. Eventhough IDF launched a devastating 33-day war on the Shiite organization, nearly destroyed Lebanon, and used the most sophisticated weapon system in its arsenal, it literaly couldn;t stop the influx of rockets on Israel. And you ask why?
43. To 29 It's true DEmocratic Jews which are at

this pont 65% of Jews in USA will vote Obama, but make no mistake most of them are still pro Israel, for sure not pro arab

Dear Mae Iran will never attack Israel with Nuclear Weapons. Except if our eternal prime minister Bibi will be stupid enough to attack them first,
45. The weak Jew
Shoshana Rubin   (10.02.12)
What this article is really saying is because much of the world and its leaders are anti-Semitic, we Jews should make ourselves as small and weak as possible, to not get in the anti-Semite's way who only likes dead Jews and weak Jews. Adelson has every right to do what he's done as does Warren Buffett, George Soros, the Koch Bros and Hollywood bigwigs. The mainstream press in the US along with it's hired guns on TV simply hate Adelson because he's Jewish, rich and powerful. This article is asking the Jewish people to be silent, hidden and weak.
46. #45 - Whether you like it or not, Israel is a miniscule part
spyguy ,   seattle usa   (10.03.12)
of the total global population and if you make enough non-Israelis angry, you will be pounded into submission, no matter how big your ego is. Israel is actually already very weak when compared to the resources the rest of the world has, so yes, Israel should try to be much quieter. Your inflated ego will not like that but for the survival of Israel, it would be better that Israel was a lot quieter.
47. 6. China owns America and strongly influences policy
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.03.12)
48. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
Wrong again (I guess you've gotten used to it by now). 1. If World War II is "ancient history" to most Americans, how do you account for the fact that movies and highly popular documentaries continue to be made about the War? It may be ancient history to you, but -- you're not very smart, are you? You are certainly not attuned to American sentiment and American ongoing pride in that war, which put an end to unspeakable evil, in all theatres of operation. 2. Why do you equate where one resides with political bent? Such sweeping statements are nothing more than evidence of an extremely immature political acumen. 3. Au contraire. Nuclear power, polymers which substitute quite nicely for vinyl (a petroleum by-product), natural gas and clean coal have made it possible for the United States to be so secure so as to have almost completely ceased to drill for oil in the lower 48, and to have seriously reduced drilling in Alaska. We continue to drill offshore, of course, principally in the Gulf of Mexico, but the majority of American oil imports come from Canada. Europe and the Far East are dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and increasingly less so. That is why the United States maintains a heavy military presence in the Gulf -- to secure oil supplies for its supposed "allies" (fair weather friends at best). But you have unwittingly answered your own question -- China and Russia are not superpowers, because they have no access to the quantities of petroleum they need. They cannot feed their own populations, either. Were the United States to shut down outsourcing to China, India, Indonesia and Malaysia, those economies would shut down in one day. Cheaply and poorly made products abound, easily obtainable elsewhere in the world. Do keep that in mind. As to getting oil by force -- excuse me, but can you spell "Libya?" Or do you think NATO inserted itself for humanitarian reasons? Just like NATO has NOT done in Syria. 4. Your fears about Israel are grossly misplaced. As are your impressions. Israel will do what it must to ensure its survival. We're quite accustomed to going it alone -- we've done it before. And I assure you that you will have a hard time finding countries who are willing to forego high-quality, low-cost Israeli imports in favor of paying more for goods of dubious quality. 5. Israel's Leviathan natural gas field is scheduled to come on line in November. Cheap fuel, without the logistical nightmare of imports from elsewhere in the world. I'd say Israel is gaining influence, not losing it -- forget the public criticism, designed to keep domestic unruly Arab and Moslem populations at bay. That's for international consumption, too -- but it does not resemble the real policy, which is made very much out of the public eye. 6. Obama is perceived as weak because he is weak. Prime Minister Netanyahu has only pointed out Obama's ineptitude. Obama is the most failed American president in history. 7. You need to get new batteries for your magic eight ball. It doesn't appear to be working.
49. To: No. 46
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
Minuscule (note proper spelling)? Since when does size matter? Pounded into submission? How, pray tell, when Israel can destroy half the world and render what's left uninhabitable for the next 100,000 years? You severely underestimate Israel's knowledge of the history of the Jewish people, and Israel's resolve. Those would be foolish -- and fatal -- errors on your part. If we go; we're taking everyone with us. Do keep that in mind.

Moshe of Rockville ,   Rockville,MD USA   (10.03.12)
While there is no argument that the Jewish State's population is extremely small, its nuclear capability in terms of the number of number of such weapons(200 to 400),the means for their delivery( such as aircraft, missiles, and submarines) and the will to defend itself, do not suggest that it would allow itself to "be pounded into submission." You do not understand the nature of the Jew,Israeli and others who support the independence of the Jewish State. Neither do you understand the will of the Jewish State to survive and succeed in a world, which is unconcerned about its survival. The days of being "quieter" are in the past - the distant past.
51. The US must strike Iran !.
Arn.Sweden. ,   Sweden.   (10.03.12)
Would Iran do more against the US and World Economy if Israel did it alone, and would Iran do less if the US joined a Military Strike ?. I think that the answer is obvious considering Irans wow to strike at US targets even if Israel did it alone. To sit idle with the Military capacity of the US, will make the US a sitting Duck. If the US joined Israel in a strike against Iran, Iran would be more Crippled to its capacity to do harm to the US and the World. Arn.Sweden.
52. Obamas Error !.
Arn.. ,   Sweden.   (10.03.12)
His hesitation to attack Iran, will effect the opposite to what He wants to achieve. His hesitation will make the US loose the Suport of Saudiarabia who will choose another cooperator than the US. Obama is a Looser all ways. Arn.Sweden.
53. #4, Fake Sarah B, Netanyahu won the election
Jake   (10.03.12)
Obviously, as you know nothing about Israel anyway, you have no idea how the Israeli electoral system works. It is not the party with most votes that wins. It is the party leader that can form the largest coalition that wins...in this case Netanyahu. Zippy's party did not get a majority in the Knesset, and she was unable to form a center-left coalition. Not only Netanyahu was able form a broad, stable center-right coalition, but he was later joined by part of Labor and, for a time, the Kadima rebels that had successfully overthrown Zippy. And Bibi's popularity is only growing. So sorry.
54. article is wrong
david ,   new york   (10.03.12)
americans are not "weary of war". you must keep in mind that very few americans actually serve in the military relative to the size of the country. most people dont have friends or close relatives in the military and could care less. the main reason for isolationism is that thye dont care about the rest of the world and putting resources there seems wasteful to americans and is a no-win situration for any president. also, you must understand who obama is: he is a radical "community organizer" desguising himself as a legitimate politician. but the main idea is to take over power and get rid of capitalism and make the US a smaller, weaker power. since most of the evil in this world (he believes) comes from the US, this is a way to make the world a better place. so if america is weaker now than when he took office, its not by accident
55. No nothing Zilkha
michaelpielet ,   israel   (10.03.12)
Zilkha should stick to what he knows nothing or how to be a yored. The democratic party is anti Israel, because the party activists are ant-semites. Nothing to do with arabs living in Judea and Samaria or Israeli nationalism.
56. Huge problem with Israel's.....
Wow! ,   Israel   (10.04.12)
....security is that HASHEM despises Hypocrisy, that's at the base of Zionist ideology... Anyone figuring how to solve this "little" problem, before HE unleashes HIS fury, and no 300 neither 3000 nukes will be of any use?
