31. "Goods are making their way to Gaza...with few restrictions"
Dr. L. Brnd ,   San Diego, USA   (10.02.12)
The last paragraph captures the idiocy of Barak's flawed policy, which is directly contrary to israel's interests. Capitulating to Hillary's demands and giving Gaza pasta, along with everything else needed for a normal life -- while they still rain rockets on israel, with Eilat a new target, thanks to Muslim Brotherhood cooperation. The correct policy is to announce that the Hillary-pasta concession was a failure, and to re-institute the old restrictions in full - no luxury goods or other non-essentials. No pasta, and no sugar for Kassam fuel. If the rulers of Gaza want a shipment of luxuxy goods to get in, they should be made to pay for it with surrender of 25 GRAD or Kassem rockets - for each and every truckload. The sooner the rockets are depleted, restrictions can end entirely. The Clinton-Obama approach has failed.
32. All of you pointing a finger at Syria ,...
split ,   US   (10.02.12)
They don't pretend or claim to be a democracy ,...
33. Bring out the bulldozer fleet
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (10.02.12)
fondly called the Rachel brigade.
34. Swedes problem? Fix it easy, find one Norwegian!
Ze'ev ,   USA   (10.02.12)
"Ten thousand Swedes Ran through the weeds, Chased by one Norwegian." OK, so it's only a handful of swedes, and they might claim overkill, but what the heck.
35. sink it
JGrosman ,   Houston Texas   (10.02.12)
If one or two of these ships sink the they would stop sending them. I think the rust bucket had a leak and sunk. It was there one minute and the next time we looked it was gone.
36. Just like those brave people of the ISM
marcohoe ,   San Francisco, USA   (10.02.12)
As I said earlier, this flotilla will be just like all those brave people of the ISM that are now human shields in Syria, protecting the civilian population.
37. #27
Alex   (10.02.12)
All those who attack soldiers will be... Simple logics. Even international law agrees Israel had the right to board the ships back in 2010, the soldiers were attacked and they defended themselves. The activists should take care of urgent matters on their own backyard first, like Malmö (my former hometown). But they have no interest in human rights, merely in demonizing Jews...
38. #32 Gaza does
Alex   (10.02.12)
claim they're... Israel however is and doesn't need to claim it, Gaza isn't a part of Israel and the blockade is legal according to international law.
39. #6...and don't let them back out again.
Mark ,   London, UK   (10.02.12)
Trapped forever in Gaza. What a fate!
40. Sarah , is there any ship yard in gaza ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.02.12)
To build a ship , a true one , you need a yard , a dock , and skilled craftsmen .
41. Estelle's maiden voyage will b veryBORING cos theres no Turk
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (10.02.12)
42. #27#
Ruben Jacobi ,   UK.   (10.02.12)
THE ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION PROVIDED THEY DON,T ATTACK THE ISRAELIS IS NONE (0)
43. #14. If you are example of a "true christian"
A ,   Belgium   (10.02.12)
than I am damn proud to be a Jew. And I know most Christians don't preach the crap that you do.
44. #27. Because of this useless, stupid stunt
A ,   Belgium   (10.02.12)
probably not enough.
45. Activists listen up...
A Sailor ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
Dear Swedish Activists, Despite my TOTAL LACK OF Agreement with you position I wanted to take a moment to share sailing information with you in the friendly manner of a seasoned sailor. Fellow sailors please note that traditionally by October the Mediterranean Sea gets extremely choppy and wintry. For your own personal safety (as well as for the personal safety of the Israeli Fleet which will end up going out to save your fine white A$$es) please do seriously consider putting off your fool hardy venture until AT LEAST Spring. I do understand that you probably won't even begin to understand that this message IS NOT political it IS meant as a gentle reminder of the friendly ways of TRUE sailors. So if you choose to ignore it...fine we'll endanger ourselves to save you from your own folly!
46. Thought this maritime chickenshit had worn itself out
Cameron ,   USA   (10.02.12)
Board & keep these Euro wankers in cold cell for a few weeks.
47. #27 - depends on how many will try to lynch a soldier
William ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
If they remain unarmed and peaceful like those on the other 5 boats in 2010, they'll see NO harm.
48. let's hope they succeed in shaming Israel again
roger ,   zurich switzerland   (10.02.12)
49. #23 - if they're unarmed, they'll have no worries
William ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
Just like most of the people on the Mavi Marmara and the other 5 boats in the flotilla. It was the armed people on the Marmara who got their asses kicked for initiating violence, and rightly so.
50. #30 - they failed to mention what type of boat for ark
William ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
5 bathtubs and 100 empty 25 gal water jugs, with 3 km of twine.
51. #32 - they're also not at war with anyone
William ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
but Israel is, and has been since 2007 when Hamas unilaterally declared it and the intent to destroy Israel and its people. And even with such a threat against it, Israel still takes care of the very people who hate her to the level that causes a Sudanese MP to shake with envy, and a death count over the past 5 years amounting to 1/20th of that killed in Syria in the past year. Clearly, the need for international help and the growing human rights abuses are not in Gaza.
52. #23 - if intellect were a yardstick, you'd need a microscope
William ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
Israel allows drugs and medicines to reach Gaza, through the UN, on a daily basis. same with fuel. Earlier this year when the Strip went dark because their power plant ran out of fuel, it wasn't because of Israel, it was because of HAMAS and their inter-squabbles with the PA over pricing and taxation. Infact, it was Israel who made an emergency delivery to keep the plant in operation. So, even when under their own rule, the Gazans can't seem to rule themselves. We'll not speak about the electricity and water Israel provides to Gaza, a terrorist entity at war with the Jewish State.
53. # 46 - Cameron
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (10.02.12)
Not a cold cell, they're Swedes, and will enjoy the cold. How about cells in the Negev, with no air conditioning, temperature in the cells around 40 degrees Celsius (104 F).
54. Sarah , the Estelle is a 53 m long boat
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (10.02.12)
with two holds , more than 300 cubic metres .
55. why wasn't the ship sabotaged
zionist forever   (10.02.12)
If we had sent commandos to sabotage the ship before it left port this whole thing could have been avoided because the ship would have to be repaired and of course most of the passengers cannot just pack their bags and sail on a moments notice so many of them would not be able to take part so the organisers would have to rethink their plans. If we are forced to board the ship again this time make sure the commandos have the right tools for the job. Tear gas rather than paintball guns, rubber bullets etc. Non lethal ways of taking the ship but still provide enough firepower to take control without having to resort to live ammunition. Also whilst last time round it was legal under the Helsinki Principles to board the ship in international waters wait till they enter Israeli territorial waters.
56. I love these talkbacks!
Lio ,   London Uk   (10.02.12)
Reports like this are guaranteed to bring out the worst in all you pro-Israel talkbackers. Calling for death and destruction of others is barbaric(and you call the Arabs savages, pff) All of you calling for the activists to go help Syrians - what have you or your govts done to help them - NAFT!!
57. #32 - split nonesense
Maurice ,   Montreal   (10.02.12)
So, according to your logic, just because Syria is not a democracy, the Syrians do not deserve any help! Think again about what you are saying...
58. Flotilla
Floriane ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
# 3 intelligent comment
59. Meanwhile in Syria...
Yaniv ,   Israel   (10.02.12)
60. #56 Me too, especially when people like you
A ,   Belgium   (10.02.12)
answer. Israel and Syria have never resolved the state of war between them, therefore Israel has no obligation to help either the government forces of Assad, or the rebels. Now, what has London, UK done today to help the Syrians?
