Ottoman Empire. For the past years this uncivilized country has been exerting its Islamic influence dangerously over the Mid East. Dreams of the caliphate are not over yet.
2. What? How dare the Turks defend themselves?!
Alex   (10.03.12)

6. responsible nations :-D
Hushen Charliehorse ,   USA   (10.03.12)
Clinton says responsible nations worldwide must band together!!! Yes!!! That's it! And while Russia & China do not leap on the bandwagon, the others will simply fall off the bandwagon and Clinton will continue to rave on about responsible nations. This all boils down to the US being terrified of WW3 and is going to do nothing. I wonder where we would be today if this mentality had won out in 1939.
7. To: No. 5
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.03.12)
Actually, Article 4 is a part of the original NATO charter, and it has not been amended since originally ratified in April 1949. Why do you spout such nonsense?

11. I hope Clinton consults with NATO too, when
Harry Wright ,   UK   (10.03.12)
Israel strikes back at Gaza for shooting rockets into Israel. The Obama administration must also state that it is "outraged" by Gaza rockets landing on homes in Israel. Then too, a statement by Israel that "Israel will never leave unanswered such kinds of provocation by the Hamas regime against our national security", must be FULLY accepted by the international community. Let the playing field be leveled.
12. How to make all this unpleasantness go away?
Neil B. ,   Los Angeles, Ca.   (10.03.12)
Israel must apologize.
13. Turkey first should strike Israel for Mavi Marmara massacre
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (10.03.12)
Turkey should retaliate and strike Israeli vessels before striking syria. Besides, it is not clear which side in Syria strike Turkish territory as it is also possible Syrian rebels did it. It is mortar and rebels have mortar.
14. Romney would be correct to cancel debate and election bid.
Miron ,   USA   (10.03.12)
15. Syrian mortar ?
Jeremy ,   Finland   (10.03.12)
Probably this was sent by agents of the Mossad . Israel is ALWAYS the attacker , isn't ?
16. re no 5
`nigel ,   london   (10.03.12)
the flotilla was not a part of the Turkish state . It was a group of boats aiming to land on another countries sovereign territory, This does not under any circumstance amount to an attack on a NATO state Are you just ignorant or stupid ? Syria's attack on a Nato sponsored state is an entirely different manner,. An attack on one NATO stae is an attack on all NAtO staates. You are either plain ignorant or just stupid.
17. Caution
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (10.03.12)
The concept of national sovereignty should be respected here. Akcakale is very close to the Syrian border and the launchers of the mortars could have been anti-regime or national army forces. This may also have been stray fire not intended for Turkish territory, such is the spillover effect from such conflict. Or it could be a calculated provocation designed to draw Turkey into the conflict. Cool heads are required now in the region. This incident should not spark an escalation between the two neighbours.
18. The "Obama administration said it is "outraged""
(10.03.12)
Well isn't that heart warming. Where was the outrage after the Fogel family was slaughtered by "palestinian" terrorists? A bit one-sided, no? Or doesn't O consider Jewish blood as important...

21. The "Obama administration said it is "outraged""
A ,   Belgium   (10.03.12)
Well, isn't that heart-warming...moslems kill moslems and Obama is " outraged". Where was the outrage when the Fogel family was slaughtered in their beds, their throats slit by "palestinians" ? You lost my vote, dude. And Mitt don't have it either.
22. Retaliatory strikes for one little mortar?
Chatich   (10.03.12)
If erdogan ran Israel there would be nobody left alive in gaza by now. So when does the flotilla to turkey set sail?
23. Tayfun I agree
David Israel ,   New York, USA   (10.04.12)
Turkey should attack Israel. The results will be so devastating for Turkey that finally the Turkish public will bring down AKP.
24. I don't buy this BS
MR   (10.04.12)
Why would the Syrian regime, in its current situation, provoke Turkey with an attack on civilians, that means absolutely nothing in terms of strategy.
25. @13

When was the last time O'Bongo was ready with a comment? Thats right, he takes days to respond properly. This was set up in advance. The Turks are shelling their own people, or it could be US irregular forces killing their people.
