Hotel security guards are not there to stop crime from happening. They exist as a deterrant (and are more worried about not invading the privacy of the clients) hired by the hotels to lower insurance rates. That's right. It's about insurance rates. A security guard who has a job is a security guard who has never used his weapon. Israel doesn't want vigilante "heroes."

Crazy, I participated in this program(oranim Eilat hotel experience) back in 2010. Oranim should've done a better job screening it's participants. This will never leave a positive feeling for Americans in Israel.

When the United States pays more for Israel's defense than the Israeli taxpayers why are you complaining? American culture is probably no better or worse than Israeli. Every culture has its problems. What would be interesting to know is the ethnicity of the shooter. If he was a Palestinian it would have announced. Since it wasn't I'll bet you a bagel he was Jewish. Either a young man with mental issues or a disillusioned young emigrant, probably educated, that thought he could get a great job and wound up waiting tables or washing dishes. Who knows? Incidents like these, wherever they occur, are sad events.

This world is becoming more evil every second of the day. People are losing their minds. I'm also disgusted with much of what is going on here in the United States: from a corrupt president (and his Sodomization of America), the killing of the unborn, spiritual decline, and the moral debasement by the trash that comes out of Hollywood! My country is dying quick; God's judgment is already coming down on us (rightfully so) like a sledgehammer!

America gives 3bn in gift to Israel. Ny subway ads feature support of only one country, Israel The above points show how Israel is like 52nd state of US. (51st is Saudi- ask an American living in Saudi and he will tell u why). Israel is part of America in everyday life. So, when you are a good friend with America, you have to share both good things as well as bad things. And one of the bad thing is this culture mass shooting in a public place. So, accept it. After many years living in America, I wanted to come back to Israel to get away from the American culture, which I used to admire before I realized what I had right here in Israel was more warm and fulfilling family feeling. But I see that Israel finally got its 'wish', and now we will see that when you import American way of life, also you get the problems. Americans Jews, we love you but please leave alone our special culture, we need to be close in this country to survive as a people, not only as individuals like in the states. Thank you!

If we can't choose the best qualities only from American culture and leave out the bad ones, then don't bring us American culture. I honestly don't see that it made Israel better or more democratic since the last few years, we have had our own culture once apon a time also you know! And it wasn't perfect but it was ours and at least we could improve it our own way, Jewish way and feel together and community. I will pay price of not having Nike shoes and luxury living if we can retake our familiar and warm hearted culture!

We have an attourney general who was running guns to Mexican drug lords. Our government picks and chooses which laws they are going to enforce. Drugs are illegal and banned here and it only serves to make it lucrative to deal in them. We found this out during prohibition when we banned alcohol but our government in it's wisdom has chosen to repeat this mistake. Our laws have created Mexico's drug crime problem. Our laws protect no one if they are not enforced or if they bind the hands of law abiding citizens. Criminals could care less about laws.
