As to references to Dreyfus and to the Vichy French -- was not Dreyfus railroaded? Was he not convicted of a crime he did not commit? By the time the French government admitted its mistake, Dreyfus was a broken, old man. The Vichy French acted to deport Jews and encouraged French citizens not to hide Jews. Those are facts, Alexandre. They may not be pleasant facts, but they are facts nonetheless. Why do the French have such trouble coming to terms with their history with respect to the Jews?

Some comments you see here are from people who are ignorant or looking only at one side of the coin . He actually retired from the army because of poor health only a year after he returned from Devil's Island.
