31. Israeli military's announcement
J Thomas ,   Washington DC, USA   (10.07.12)
You guys talk like you think you can read the article and understand what happened. But Israel is permanently at war, and so they must lie whenever it helps the war effort. You shouldn't believe anything they say. It's fine to support them, but it's stupid to believe them. Their first priority is to survive, and their second priority is to kill all their enemies, and telling you the truth comes at best a distant third or fourth or fifth.
32. Drone not Iranian
Scott ,   Pgh,PA USA   (10.07.12)
If Israel shot down a drone, it was American. Iran does not have drone technology.
33. Iran used US Drone to back engineer their own?
SD Charger ,   San Diego   (10.07.12)
Why are they provoking Israel right now? Could it be the daily riots in Tehran are starting to make the Ayatollah sweat? They want Israel to attack them so they can play the victim card, but Israel is MUCH smarter then that. It won't be long now though. With Iran, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Gaza in dire straights with their amazing socio-economic policies, they need to shift the blame toward Israel for something to start a new war. The writing is on the wall and fortunately for Israel, they are able to read and interpret what it says. Israel can and will defend itself. Hopefully, when the dust settles this time, Israel will control Golan Heights, Judea and Samaria, and Sinai, kicking the foreigners out of THEIR land, once and for all. Israel faces daily provocation and I hope they clean house on the next war with the Arabs. Take the gloves off and forget about what the UN, EU, US or any other entity thinks about it. It was Jacob who inherited the land, not ANYONE else.
34. Israel caught with its pants down
Josh   (10.07.12)
To suggest the military knew the drone had no explosives on board before its destruction is beyond belief. It could have been carrying WMD of any type, suggesting that in a war of attrition Israel is very vulnerable given its current defensive capabilities..
35. Why not capture it
JD   (10.07.12)
Isreal should have asked Iranian help and capture it like they did with the American one :)
36. 31 sounds like
jellybaby ,   A   (10.07.12)
there is no more honesty left in the world.
37. Drones
Gary Doan ,   Minneapolis USA   (10.07.12)
Surveillance drones that fly autonomously, are not hard to build with off the shelf components and autopilots today. Communications is the biggest challenge, the drone can have an autopilot with a programmed course, but it would need a fairly sophisticated communication link to send back any worthwhile photos or video. It could record images and data for recovery, but it would have to safely finish its journey, so they could retrieve the data. If the drones electronics are recovered by Israeli defense, they will have a much better idea of their autopilot and communications capabilities. If they are not using sophisticated encryption, they may be able to take control of them, before they reach the border.
38. Far fetched, eh ?
Gabe ,   Canada   (10.07.12)
A small biplane dragging a fishing net would have netted the drone intact. Cost would be a lot less than scrambling an F16. Also we could have learned something about the drone. Not "High Tech"enough, I guess.

Thomas the Doubter ,   USA   (10.07.12)
Sure Mike, the tracked all the way flying over the empty Mediterranean, and then when it headed into Gaza airspace (which Israel still controls) they didn't do anything. No, they thought the 'safest' option was to let the thing fly straight to the center of the country, transmitting intel the entire time, instead of shooting it down off the Gaza coast and letting it fall into the empty Med. Yup, you guys are taking great care of things...

jellybaby ,   A   (10.07.12)
It was smart move. Would not be able to collect the evidence from the sea.
41. Downed Drone
Carl Jones ,   London UK   (10.07.12)
I don`t believe this story for a minute. If Hezbollah were willing to sacrifice a drone for intelligence gathering reasons, then you wouldn`t send it on a long wishy washy course over the Med.!! You`d be sending this drone low and fast as possible to the heart of Israel, where they would want to cause the most damage. This looks like a propaganda stunt by the IDF.
42. #39 Thomas. like i said the article is just to
Mike ,   Israel   (10.07.12)

The soution always seems easy when you live 7644 miles away from where the bombs will be dropped.
44. Take deep breath ,...

Whoever it is it's doing what Israelis do - They want you to know that you're not immune to retaliation ,...
45. Excuse the ugliest of guilt
sam ,   colorado-USA   (10.07.12)
How penetrated airspace? and Israel was not aware for drone to enter all these distances over lands I think it's excuse the ugliest of guilt
46. That's really short sighted...
Socius ,   Calgary, Canada   (10.08.12)
You realize any attack using Nuclear weapons on Iran will invoke a response of Chemical and Biological weapons, and possibly nuclear weapons that they've purchased from former soviet block countries (just rumours...but who knows). How would you feel about Dimona having a nuclear meltdown and Israel being uninhabitable for centuries? How would you feel about Mustard gas pouring over top of you? Not good. No one would want that. So don't try to talk tough and promote a war that would be in no one's best interest. Spying and recon is common. America sends drones over Pakistan. Israel sends virus and assassin's to Iran. And Iran sends drones over Israel. In fact, Israel/US have claimed to have send drones over Iran as well. So why turn such a small issue of an un-armed drone that is really there for psychological warfare, and turn it into an all out war that will hurt the people of 2 nations? I just don't understand why people on the internet feel the need to act so tough.
47. #30 If they do detect dragonflies
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (10.08.12)
then it is using the x-band radar provided by the American taxpayer and crewed by American military personel.
