It costs money to get ahead in life doesnt it? Stop the bellyaching and get on with it. No one owes anyone anything.
2. Look Al,
Danielle Landman ,   c   (10.09.12)
The country DOES owe something to the kids who just gave 2-3 of their life to the army. What's wrong with helping them get an education.? I cant think of many better places my taxes should go.
3. every sector thinks they deserve most money
zionist forever   (10.09.12)
The military think its not fair if more money is spent on them The doctors think its not fair if more money is not spent on them. The teachers think its unfair if more money is not spent on them The rabbis think its unfair if more money is not spent on them. The students think its unfair if more money is not spent on them. Fact is every group believes they are the most important and must be given more money either the government volunteers ti give them the money they deserve or the law must be changed to force governments to give it. Student Unions moan about the same sort of things worldwide because they are the same issues that affect students worldwide Israeli students are not the only ones even if they would like to believe they are.
4. Tuition...so what.
Rob Z ,   Karkur, Israel   (10.09.12)
I just made Aliyah from Canada. Annual university or college tuition there is much higher. Israeli's need to see these fee's on a global scale. And the institutions are very good here.
5. Students getting parental financial help
D Rund ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.09.12)
What is wrong with students getting financial help from their parents? It happens all over the world. Very rarely can a good quality academic education be free or affordable to a student who has not yet embarked on his earning career. Good to know that Israeli parents, like those all over the world, can help out.
6. Unlike the ultra orthadox
Haim ,   TA   (10.10.12)
these people will go on to become productive members of society, develop carreers and pay taxes. They give the best years of their lives serving in the IDF and our the future of this country.

The primary role of the government is national security -- education, health, borders protection and avoidance of crime
8. Its a parents responsibility to educate their kids
Susan ,   KfarSaba   (10.10.12)
and prepare them for a profession. My parents paid for me, I paid for my kids. Parents should help their kids pay for college to the greatest extent that they can.
9. Make sure higher education for veterans
jason white ,   afula, israel   (10.10.12)
of the I.D.F. is either free or subsidized. We can do that by not giving child allowances to families that did not serve. We can use the money given to the families of prisoners by the N.I.I. We can also add on a tax to the students that did not serve in the I.D.F.
10. Notice to politicians
Taxpayer ,   Hod Hasharon   (10.10.12)
Any responsible parent is only going to have as many children as they can afford and then do all that they can in order to help them get along in life. My Son is starting university this year studying engineering which is a tough degree. I cannot see him working because he is an officer in a combat unit doing 60 odd days of miluim a year, meaning that his time will be spent permanently catching up. What is really unconscionable is tha tthe present government has awarded grants of NIS 7,500 to students the only condition for whcih is that they are Haredi and statistically have not served in the army). for which combat officers obviously do not qualify. At the same time I have to pay national insurance for him, which is reasonable given that he is studying something that the country does not really need - after all who needs engineers - whereas if he were to be studying how to knock down El Acksa, start world war 3 and how to identify animals for sacrifice, well that is where the country is going -then he would quite rightly get a stipend.
