true colours. A weasel who believes in nothing but his own 15 sec of glory. He reflects you should he be re-elected. He must go...
5. And aren't we glad the Syrian people revolted so this 'plan'
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (10.12.12)
wasn't implemented? why is it being denied repeatedly I wonder... Perhaps because giving back land won in a war is eventual self made suicide?
6. If this is true.....
Jay Abouaf ,   Jaffa Israel   (10.12.12)
If this is true, then Benjamin Netanyahu is not fit to be Prime Minister. Unfortunately, I would expect such naivete and lunacy from Ehud Barak. Our " leaders' " arrogance and terrible judgement is shocking.
7. I wonder what other nefarious "deals" were in the pipeline
Alan ,   SA   (10.12.12)
8. TRUE OR NOT...
FO ,   Belgium   (10.12.12)
The Golan Heights were never, NEVER part of Syrian real estate. The Golan Heights were part of the Jewish National Home as decided unanimously by all the 51 members of the League of Nations in 1922. The British Mandatory ceded the Golan Heights in 1923 to the French Mandate of Syria by breaching in a scandalous way Article 5 of the Mandate for Palestine, just to get in exchange from France, the oil fields of Mossul. Read about this subject the report of the "US Center for Security Policy". A must. An extract of this report: "Israel's decision to impose its Laws on the Golan Heights on December 14, 1981, RIGHTED the WRONG that was committed by the British in 1923" .
9. What a coincidence...
Igor ,   Germany   (10.12.12)
...that the report surfaces in a left-leaning paper exactly when the PM deliberates new elections. I also wonder who's the source of this unconfirmed and probably unconfirmable report? Assad, wanting to present himself as the better option than the rebels?
10. Israel don't belongs to its Gvt but its People
andre   (10.12.12)
who paid it with blood.
11. I dont
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (10.12.12)
12. This would be political suicide for Bibi Netanyahu!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (10.12.12)
He is totally obsessed with being Prime Minister but this would certainly destroy any chance of re-election to power of the Likud and Bibi! Now a partial withdrawal giving the Golan Druze back to Syria would be a good idea. They are loyal to Syria nd many of them still support Assad so let them go back to Syrian rule. No doubt this "story" comes from the House of Barak who will be on pension after the General Election!
13. oh ho! here it comes!
Israeli   (10.12.12)
The great pre-elections dirt and mud slinging games.if I recall, Begin and Rabin also werenegociating the Golan, so BFD. Watch: now the attacks on Bibi by the media begin in earnest. Sarah B, don't be such a child.
14. Don't believe it.
Tikvah ,   USA   (10.12.12)
This is American propoganda from the Obama administration in efforts to force his desire for Israel to become more vulnerable. NETANYAHU WOULD NEVER CEDE THE GOLAN!
15. Can anyone spell TREASON ??????????

#13, Sarah B is no child, in any shape or form, in fact she is one of the best talkbacks writers, even I get it in the neck sometimes, and that is her right, to give an opinion,so lay off Sarah.
17. Jealous
michael Pielet ,   Israel   (10.12.12)
Yediot is working overtime to spread its lies and nonsense. Yediot is jealous Netanyahu will be reelected.
18. What other secret Deals?
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (10.12.12)
What other secret deals did Bibi and Barak negotiate or offer to sell out? I would not be surprised they sold out Judea and Samaria for a attack on Iran. If that is the cars I rather live with a Iranian Nuke than a Israel with 9 mile wide borders and a war with the results would be the same as the destruction of Israel.
19. ehud barak again
mohson   (10.12.12)
ehud barak is disconnected from reality and is finished. Labour did not want him, likud does not want him. rank and file soldiers do not respect him, only haaretz and the weaklings of haaretz exaggerate his military exploits which are a recent joke and pathetic withthe marmora. He is weak. Only a shmuck would give up the golan which is israeli. if these talks were had, bibi should step down as israel does not need another olmert, a weak disgusting coward.
20. Golan
Edouard ,   Montreal Canada   (10.12.12)
We do not have enough troubles With gaza what genius idea!!!! We give back the golan and we will have a rain of rockets coming from up their every day
21. Golan Heights Belong To Syria
World Citizen ,   the world   (10.12.12)
Israel has occupied the GH against international law since 1967. This is only because the United Stated has prevented UN sanctions that would have made Israel's intransigence on this issue untenable. Now attitudes are changing in the USA. People are beginning to question their government's slavish devotion to a small country that costs American taxpayers billions of dollars each year when (1) their debts are spiraling out of control and (2) they are being isolated from the almost universal world opinion that Israel is the cause of many problems in the Middle East . These same people are rising up in the political parties of that country. The end results is that Israel has 10, maybe 15 years, and then all Israeli assumptions about keeping Syria will be clear. Syria will have the Golan.
22. Treason
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (10.12.12)
So Israel attacks Iran in the future to protect herself Iran retaliates Israel suffers from casulties and economic damage only to give up the Golan and Judea and Samaria and have 9 mile wide borders in the end. How much money are bibi and Barak going to make out of this deal if it had happen. I only throw in the judea and Samaria part since I would not put it past Barak to offer the West Bank for a attack on Iran.? If it is a choice if Iran or Judea and Sanaria and secure borders ill live with a nucular Iran.
23. Amazing isn't it
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (10.12.12)
when there is an election in the offing and the need for funds, whoever is Prime Minister was about to bring about world peace by cedeing this or that. And even more surprising it is always scuppered by the other side being unco-operative at the last minute. Do normal decent Israelis who have had enough of the settlers and the Haredi making thier lives hell actually believe this rubbish? Fundraising exercise by Netanyahu at a time when all available funds in the United states are either going to Romney and Obama with not a lot left over.
24. bb=barak, the last "conflict" was a HUGE joke.
Big Mouth ,   On the face   (10.12.12)
According to American sources, Netanyahu and Barak agreed to withdraw to the 1967 lines. Netanyahu and Barak kept the talks a secret.
25. Those Who Do Not Learn From History . . .
emanon ,   USA   (10.12.12)
Ever hear of Gaza? Gush Katif? So, how'd those work out . . . Look up George Santayana's quote to find out how this will work out.
26. Pre Elections Leftwing media dirt
Shlomo Silverstein ,   MA, Israel   (10.12.12)
Read Arutz 7 article on this. All the leftwing media including ynet are trying to sling mud at Bibi. Bibi cannot be trusted but then again, the opposition can be trusted to attempt national suicide.
27. Looks like more Obamaleaks
David ,   Haifa, IL   (10.12.12)
Take it with a grain of salt. It seems the US State department spreadx this in order to influence the elections. Anyway, when you see the name Dennis Ross , then it has BS written all over it.
28. Israel once again spared fruits of its own foolishness
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (10.12.12)
Repeatedly over the last 20 years, Israel foolishly offered up much of its patrimony, which had been won (back) in defensive wars. But demands or actions by said neighbors meant those deals never went through. Consider: In the late 1990s, Netanyahu indeed considered a deal surrendering the Golan (despite the 1981 law making the Golan sovereign Israel)), but Syria wanted just a little too much. In 2000 Barak was prepared to give over much of Jerusalem to Arafat's control; fortunately Arafat said no. In 2006 Olmert was prepared to repeat the policy of unilateral disengagement, carried out the year before in Gaza, this time in Judea and Samaria. But the capture of IDF soldiers on both the Gaza and Lebanon front held it up. We already knew that Olmert was discussing ceding the Golan. Now we learn Netanyahu was doing likewise, though neither had popular support to do so. Only a civil war in Syria interrupted such consideration. Too bad for the Syrian people, but lucky for us. The Golan was once ours long ago. it was taken from us, and eventually, at great cost, won back. So why do Israeli leaders keep trying to give it away?
29. Mistake beyond comprehension!
sk ,   USA   (10.12.12)
Peace treaties are worth little, especially with regimes whose values are mired in medieval thinking. Treaties are only upheld by the regime that signed it. With every change of regime treaties will be subject to and in danger of being overturned. On the other hand, the Golan Heights is high ground that oversees (strategically, electronically and visually) miles and miles into enemy territory. Giving it up would be one of the most asinine things tiny Israel could do and could never afford. Never trust the Arabs in a peace treaty. Look at the peace treaty with Egypt ...its future is quite uncertain with the treaty signers gone from power.
30. #3 Sara B: Of course he is!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (10.12.12)
No doubt you are religious or even Haredi so you can benefit to the fullest extent from the Netanyahu Government bleeding the country dry and making cuts in the Defense Budget when he is threatening a war against Iran, Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, Egypt and the rest of our Israel loving neighbors! No doubt you live in a fancy home in the center of the country and you don't earn the minimum wage and you are not a pensioner or a Holocaust Survivor who scratches in the garbage for food and lives in squalor! No doubt you are healthy and don't live in the north where the sick have to travel for hours to get to a hospital of receive treatment for cancer. We all see that you are Sarah B U.S.A./Israel so does that mean that when the going gets tough and the missiles fall like they did on Karmiel in 2006 and almost every day in Sderot since 2000 you will run back to Obama/Romneyland?
