merely bias-controlled by some corporate front for some billionaires agenda. That's why free news, featuring a wide range of agendas from which to choose, has been so successful. So no reason to pay. Choose your favorite agenda for free.

The Jerusalem Post began charging subscription rates. I stopped reading the Jerusalem Post. All of the news is readily available on line for free. No reason it shouldn't be so. They advertise? Fine. That is their right. The discerning reader will be able to differentiate between paid 'news' and real information.
3. Great idea

Original idea that could contribute to Israel 's democracy
4. No such thing as free news

I agree with the first poster that even paid news is biased. If you pay for the New York Times, you get news biased towards the left. If you pay for the Wall Street Journal, you get news biased towards the right. There are still a few sources free, however, and you have to look for them. I try to get both sides of any coin.
5. newspapers like haaretz its left is always right on all issu
zionist forever   (10.15.12)
Look at Haaretz these days You want to read the print edition you pay. You want to read the online edition you only get minimum content free. Both versions are very biased towards the left, never get a single article looking at an issue from both sides. At the same time you have the other online news site Arutz 7 and that is very biased toward the far right and doing things like criticising settlers is like sacrilege.
6. Advertisers pay the bills

There're is no transparency and efectvely no ethical guidelines in modern journalism. The only antidote is to have choice, but who has funds for 3-5 subscriptions?
7. Thoughtful piece. Thank you
