1. Why not Israel?
Mike ,   UK   (10.17.12)
First I wish him the best hope he recovers soon! Second, Israel is known for good doctors, medical innovation etc? Why would he not do this in israel?
2. @1 all u say is true; Israel has a long organ waiting list
Sarita Montiel ,   Israel   (10.17.12)
first of all refuah shelema to Mr. Dagan. secondly, the waiting list for any and all organs in Israel is very very long...so probably Mr. Dagan couldn't afford to wait and so he went to a country where the waiting list was shorter.
3. transplant
caleb ,   israel   (10.17.12)
i know of a very well known rabbi who bought a green card at $15,000 and got himself bumped up to the top of the list for a lung transplant from an eighteen year old victim. somewhat immoral in my eyes as being in his late '50's he basically 'stole' someone else's life much younger. he could have made an example of himself. after all he is claimed to be a 'tsadiq' but i guess the money factor etc overode his righteousness. surprising that Dagan couldn't pull it off in the US.
4. Dagan and liver operation
grandma ,   Israel   (10.17.12)
Why not Israel? Because Israelis do not donate enough organs for transplant. So we have to look elsewhere to save lives....

6. May Ha Shem Bless M.Dagan For
(10.17.12)
A Speedy recovery. So b.H.o. BLOCKED THIS Israeli Hero From Having Surgery in the U.S.? Age Criteria, citizenship? Seems to me only foreign arabs can have treatment in U.S.??????????????? BTW Romney caught b.H.o. on the chin a few times And Romney Won. How Could a Dismal 4 year record like b.H.o. win anything But Change?
7. Dagan died long ago.
michael Pielet ,   israel   (10.17.12)
I am happy to pay for his funeral.
8. No Thanks to Lukashenko ?
A Pernat ,   Paris   (10.17.12)
In lieu reproaches to Lukashenko ? US refuses ? I have firsthand testimonies in the Eighties they help military allies in latin america in every way for free ! And for Germas a jewish life is still less worthy, I bet for Obama they would have 100 Donors. So donĀ“t blame Lukashenko!

13. # 4 - A lousy excuse ,...
split ,   US   (10.17.12)
We ship human organs from one part to of the country to another all the time ,...
14. #4 Granny is right! due to religious reasons
Arlene ,   Israel   (10.17.12)
many die because organs from the already dead can't be used. Its very sad. I am not going to need anything once I am gone and not planning to return, so if I have anything that can be used, then they can have it. My husband and kids know how I feel, its also on my driving license. Wish Mr Dagan a speedy recovery and safe journey home.
15. Israeli law on transplants
Avi Yisraeli ,   Modiin, Israel   (10.17.12)
According to Israeli law, anyone over 65 years old is not even illegible to be a a organ/donor waiting list. As the article stated, Dagan is 67.
