Virtually every democracy out there has refused visa to one person or another. Eg. I live in Australia and the most recent example was Greet Wilders was not able to get a Visa - and his an MP of a Democratic. England had done similarly and there are numerous cases if you care to check. Israel does not filter his web sites, talks, etc - it just did not let him in. There are plenty of Arabs in Israel with hate speeches, speeches against the state ,etc - they are not censored. He is very highly regarded in the academia. One can disagree with his personal views, but he deserves admiration for bravery and for being outspoken. Naturally, his social and political opinions are leftist, populist. The FBI and the Mossad probably have rooms filled to capacity with files on Chomsky's anti-government activities. His place in history is assured.

Let's be honest - Israel could stop the rockets from Gaza any time they want. Be it through re-invasion, massive bombing of military camps (they know where every one is), or by simply turning off the electricity or water supply. The fact is, Israel maintains the status quo for its own purposes, whatever they are. There's only one way to end the conflict - Israel offers to lift its barricade and in turn, Gaza stops the rocket attacks. If they begin again, Israel goes back in, and hard.
