I am a liberal democrat and support the concept of a welfare state. I favor labor unions and I am proud member of one. Shame on you all. American Jews live in America. I for one do NOT discount the importance of Israel to the Jewish people. I am a child of holocaust survivors... so for all of you who spout platitudes, shame on you. I have no respect for anyone who expects that the only issue Jews in the US AND ELSEWHERE will only vote in favor of Israel. I love and care about Israel, but I live in America. Only 20% of the american jews have visited Israel. Only 20% of american jews' charity goes to jewish and Israel causes. So, who cares what american jews think about Israel? They think what it is good for them and that's it. We American Jews remember that it was only several decades ago that WASPs kept us out of country clubs, certain schools, jobs, social circles, etc. Our fathers told us of hows the Irish Catholic kids beat up the Jewish kids, and the names they called them. Even today it is well known that certain local yacht clubs don't want more than a couple of token Jews. Better to vote liberal than to vote for someone who strikes you as a closet Jew hater.
