Seriously...these things happen and it is an international festival. Hope it's not a good reason not to try to win an award in Toronto next year :)

They don't "overlap", they fall on those holidays. As though it would be so difficult to move it by a day or 2 so that it doesn't fall on Yom Kippur. But I guess Jews have not contributed enough to film industry to justify that

Why don't they move the holidays so that jews can enjoy TIFF? Rosh Hashana can be moved up to end of August and Yom Kippur to 3rd week in Sept. Everyone's happy.
