1. So-Called Palestinians to be Recognized
ltrail ,   United States   (10.25.12)
The so-called palestinians are none other than former citizens of Jordan, Syria, or Egypt (maybe a few others as well). They are a non-entity and do not deserve any status at the UN since their former countries are already present members. Someone should check their DNA and disallow such smoke and mirrors by them.
2. # 1,,,Check your own DNA...
Edithann ,   USA   (10.25.12)
you're neither fish nor fowl...Palestinians have a DNA going back to the Canaanites...do you or yours? Once they become a UN member...things will change... TATA
3. Keep building
Real vision ,   usa   (10.25.12)
The palestinians are not fit to govern one inch of land anywhere And Israel has the right to build on its historic homeland. Abbas has no power to produce anything that is called peace
4. Israel should agree to the talks...
Jordan Ariel ,   Philadelphia USA   (10.25.12)
Before they do, and if the palestinians go through with this farce at the United Nothings... Israel should annex land. Anyone agree that the palestinians should pay for their intransigence and publicity stunts?
5. then Israel should have her own pre-conditions, if abbas has
mary_of_bethany ,   singapore   (10.25.12)
"if the UN recognized Palestine as a non-member state."? so Abbas has not just one pre-condition hah, he demand building-freezing as one ore-condition to Israel, and now demanding "UN non-member state" status as pre-condition to UN. the great powerful United Nations blackmailed by one fake (not even nation yet) nation.... wow,,,,in deed, UN deserve her name of the "Useless Nuts"! why? because the rest of the nations are uselessly scared of the many arab "nuts" nations.
6. "Straightaway" Mr. Abbas is welcome to return to the...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (10.25.12)
...negotiating table and talk peace. Israel has been sitting at the table since 2009, eager to see him return, but he has refused to do so. One wonders, why...?? P.S. Is it possible that he hasn't return to the negotiating table because he and his gang have figured out that they will never get any better offer than the one made in 2000 by Mr. Barak and in 2008 by Mr. Olmert? Is it possible that they refuse to meet the simple requirement by all of Israel's governments, that they accept Israel's right to be, to exist as the sovereign nation-state of the Jewish people on ANY parcel of land of the Jewish people's ancestral homeland?
7. He's got it backwards
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (10.25.12)
If the United Nations grants the ersatz "Palestinians" non-member status, Israel's very next move will be to annex Judea and Samaria. At that point, like illegal aliens everywhere, each and every West Bank Arab will be repatriated to Jordan, the country of their citizenship. Jordan will be far tougher on them than Israel ever was. If they think that life under the ersatz "Palestine" Authority is difficult .... they haven't seen anything yet.
8. Abbas is a dearty cheater
A Pernat ,   Paris   (10.25.12)
Abu Mazen proposes a shitty deal! First recognition than negotiations ! ? I can´t stop laughing hehehe After a recognition Abu will impose conditions and maximum demands Israel can´t accomplish.
9. this sector is bankrupt
A Pernat ,   Paris   (10.25.12)
All German Solar power companies are bankrupt. Chinas bussines competition in this sector is just excessive. Don´t take it personal , the decision has nothing to do with Israel as country.
10. HUH?
Ellen ,   Israel/USA   (10.25.12)
Let me see, Attempts to set pre-conditions with Israel don't work. Now Abbas is trying to set pre-conditions with the UN. He will then be able to say, " I was willing to negotiate, you just didn't give me the UN status I desired" When is the world going to recognize him for the sleezeball he is! You almost have to admire Hamas ( almost!!!) at least they say what they mean and don't' play stupid games,
11. HA Ha ha HE He he

Masalami Gochba!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12. That Guatemala Verde marble background shall never be the
tom ,   tel aviv   (10.25.12)
same after it hosted (on numerous occasions) Mr.Ahmedinejad's ugly mug. Abbas fits that picture perfectly. It's green hue is in harmony with Islam's favorite color. This whole sorry outfit (UN) should be renamed the seat of United Jihad.
13. If bid succeeds
Mira ,   Vienna   (10.25.12)
you will face conditions you never thought of, you fool. We will make you pay your debts, cut off power (get it from Egypt) and deny working permits for Israel. Beside we will bring every single terrorist we get hold of before the ICC and will do the same with you if you go on gloryfying the terrorists and pay them rewards! We will go and take your charter to ICC and will do so with the Charter of Hamas as well!
14. Why cynics here are running scared...
Muayyad ,   Palestine   (10.25.12)
Is it perhaps because Palestine will be considered, de facto, an occupied State by the world at large, and its various institutions? Is it because the action (enhancement of Palestine's status to that of State) will open the gates of sanctions slapped on the occupying entity, infringing corporations, settlers? Is it because for once, Palestinians will no longer be punching bags and the war criminals arrested in international capitals and shipped off to the Hague? Absolutely - YES. Nothing will stop us now. Nothing.
15. #2 No relation to Canaanites, old boy
Cynthia ,   USA   (10.25.12)
The Canaanites disappeared long before the Palestinians claimed to exist. This claim was invented by the Palestine Liberation Organization after 1964. Check your facts.
16. No.3 Cananites desapear more than 3000 read the facts better
Ari ,   Jerusalem   (10.25.12)
Your information comes from the Palestinians which is not cientific. Palestine was practically a deserted land by the 19 th century. Some arabs desendants from the Arab invasions roamed the land and also some Jews comunities. Most of the population in the Protectorate came after 1900 mor than 450.000 arabs and arround the same number of Jews They came from nearby countries like Egypt,Syia,Sudan,Irak etc. They came because Jews were builkding cities and there was hand work needed. Also the English motivited arab emigration to construct Haifa Refinieries and the Railroads. Most of Cananites disapear when the Israelites conquered the Land. The rest banished like the ten tribes of Israek with the Inavasion of Asyria by Salmanazar in the Year 620 BC.
17. Recognition
Ralph ,   Rishon Le Zion   (10.25.12)
Israel should : If Serbia votes in favour immediately recognise Kosovo If Spain votes in favour - Catalonia Turkey & Iraq - Kurdistan Russia - Chechenia China - Taiwan and Tibet India - Nagaland Somalia - Somaliland Morocco - Sahara Dem. Republic Need I go on.
18. Yeah, right
Miriam ,   Tacoma WA USA   (10.25.12)
I'll believe him when it stops raining forever in Seattle....
19. #2 sorry
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (10.25.12)
Edithann, You can have your own computer, but you can't have your own facts. The PLO definition of "palestinian" is any non-Jew who lived in Israel before 1948. This definition includes Arab immigrants from Syria, Lebanon, Iraq and Egypt who came to Israel in 1946 and lived in Israel for no more than two years. If you look at the census numbers, you see that about 80% of the "palestinians" moved to Israel since the British occupation in 1920: most "palestinians" are not natives of Israel. As for genetics, the few "palestinians" who lived here before 1920 have nothing to do with Canaanites. These people include distinct pure groups such as Bosnians, Druze, Bedouins, Turks and Arabs, and some have ancestry that includes European Crusaders, Turks, Mongols and of course Jews. ...TATA
20. Instead of talking about peace, why don't you
Adam Smith   (10.25.12)
simply sit down at the negotiating table and reach a peace agreement with the Israelis? After all, they have been waiting for you since 2009!
21. There is no "Palestinian President". Abbas is a terrorist.
Chaim ,   Israel   (10.25.12)
Abbas is a terrorist honcho. There is no Palestine and there certainly is no Palestinian president. Fictional states don't have presidents.
22. Middle East Problems
Richard ,   Phoenix, USA   (10.25.12)
It's hard to talk to an un-elected person. Hamas is running things since the last election there. It's harder still to talk when during the talks there seem to be factions who dis-agree and keep launching rockets against Israel. Talks should not be for the purpose of only "most" of the Muslims.
