10 Talkbacks for this article
1. The two parties are national liberal and democratic parties,
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (10.26.12)
thus such a union makes full sense. Furthermore, there is little doubt, many voters from Kadima will join the new union. And, with the joining of the next government of both Mafdal and Yesh Atid, this move will finally enable the political system to introduce the governmental reforms that it needs, and will begin to deal in a meaningful and productive way with the Haredim who don't serve, don't work and are sustained financially by the state. In addition to these two tasks, such a coalition government will be able to ensure economic growth while attending to the truly needy, and ensuring Israel's national and security interests. .
2. LIBERMAN FOR PM!
My Planet Israel ,   Israel/US   (10.26.12)
Its obvious one day he will be PM. In the meantime, he's doing a fantastic job. He's tough, straight forward and takes no nonsense. Am Yisrael Chai!
3. Likud-Beiteinu - a party bases on paranoia!
Dee Bee ,   Israel   (10.26.12)
Netanyahu views himself not being Prime Minister as a national disaster. Does he really think that the right wing fanatics will vote for Lapid or Labor? Does he really think that those who b=has driven into poverty and belittled will stop thinking the he walks on water? It appears that Netanyahu is more of an idiot than the voters! Lieberman will depose him in a second if he gets the chance!
4. Who wins
Alexandre Chinovich   (10.26.12)
The two leaders have betrayed their parties, Russian community, and all the right camp. The new likud will get less votes than these two parties separately. As to Lieberman's ambitions for the PM position, they are absolutely groundless: Israelis will agree rather with the Sudanese PM than with Russian.
5. Lieberman is...
Jules   (10.26.12)
a statesman; he has no other interests than the security and strength of Israel at the international level. Netanyahu and Lieberman have no ideological differences, so there is no difference whatsoever: how the official governmental appointments will be made. By the way. Lieberman is not a Russian. His background is firmly Jewish, his mother tongue was Yiddish.
6. Bibi Errs
Larry ,   Margaliot, Israel   (10.26.12)
Likud was already on the way to losing its identity. This basically seals the deal, as the poor/Sephardic/religious voters loyal to Der'i and Shas will have even less reason to vote for Likud. But national-secular Sabras won't be attracted by Israel Beiteinu. I am afraid Bibi's projection of 47 seats and a guaranteed return to power is short-sighted and incorrect.
7. Political merger!
Morgenstern ,   Rochester, NY   (10.26.12)
So? Karni & Eichner are geniune rocket scientists....
8. @5 sit down.
(10.26.12)
Here are the true facts: Evet Liberman was born in Kishinev Soviet Union (today Chisinau, Moldova), His father served in the Red Army He does not speak a single word of Yiddish. His mother tongue is Russian. He is a fascist.
9. Lieberman, be proud to be Lieberman !
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (10.26.12)
Most israeli politicians changed his original jewish name into a hebrew one. Why to do so ? T. Herzl remained T. Herzl and he is the same in the memory of the jewish nation.
10. Mr. Lieberman is FM of Israel and is too liberal for PM
Miron ,   USA   (10.26.12)
seat. Haven't matured yet, fully. When he will sleep through international meetings, like Madamme Shaleve, drink champagne to red in the face like Livni and than release 1000 murderers like Netaneyahoo, than he will be extremist enough to be acceptable for the Western world. For now his liberalism and lack of corruption causes serious consternation accross the Western hemi - sphere as well as paroxisms of passion on behalf of defender of Shabbes from public bus.
