I would have thought the reason the US navy is giving money to Israel for this weapon because they think it will suit their needs so they are willing to spend money to buy it and they don't care where its made as long as they can have it. The fact that the US government gives Israel money to spend on American weapons has nothing to do with the US navy choosing to spend some of their budget on Protector. Congress gives Israel money to spend on American weapons and Congress also gives the navy money to spend on anything they want including Israeli weapons.

Us Navy have unnamed miniature submarines for this and other purposes much more advanced, much harder to detect and not limited by weather conditions ,...

Military aid is good for the US because the money has to be spent on American weapon. If Israel buys American weapons with military aid it also has to use its own money to buy parts. If Israel is buying American weapons with aid then its not economical for Israel to develop its own version of this American weapon which means less competition to have to deal with on the international export markets. If countries want a certain kind of weapon but they don't make their own version they have to buy American because there is no Israeli alternative. Military aid gives the US a veto on Israeli sales of its own weapons. They have forced Israel not to go ahead with a multi billion Dollar deal with China. They have tried to block sales of Israeli AWAC systems to various countries and then offer Boeing versions. Military aid & political support buys America the political influence they have in Israel. The benefits might not always be visible at first glance but America gets more by supporting & arming Israel than it would if it didn't. Not supporting or arming Israel wouldn't suddenly solve America's economic problems or make everybody love America.

the israeli air force takes american f15 fighters and strips out all major american avaionics to be replaced by israeli equipment which is far more suited for there needs . further more there tanks are the world leader in crew safety bar none .

The US aids Israel to the tune of say $3 billion a year, while giving the Arabs another $15 billion/yr. The US is running a multi-trillion dollar deficient. While that $3 billion does a lot of good, the US gets back about $15 billion/yr in Israeli aid, technology and intelligence. So cutting this $3 billion/yr will all of sudden balance the budget and employ millions of Americans? Where did you learn math - Chicago?

The reasons for the US purchase the surface craft have to do with three issues:(1)Surface craft are easier to deal with,if problems occur. (2)These drones are easier to avoid radar,because of their cross section and are quieter than sub drones.(3) Superior Israeli technology in the surface craft allow for better control and faster speed. U.S. is not 'giving' money to Israel. They are making purchases just as Israel does with US. The unmanned, underwater drones are currently used along with surface buoys and other asset for mine detection and demolition. This differs from the attack capacity of the surface drones. If you follow military/aerospace developments you will be amazed at the ranges of cutting edge developments of current US military. At same time Israel is by far the most advanced for its size and budget.
