31. #28, In South Africa you couldn't dictate that to the Blacks
Michael ,   California, USA   (10.29.12)
But on the West Bank you want to dictate to the Arabs. You want to retain the "we" dominance. You epitomize Apartheid, which was rejected in South Africa. If there will not be a two state solution in Israel, there will be Apartheid. There already is the thing Itzhak Rabin didn't want.
32. "The Emperor has no clothes!"-funny with Rivlin as the child

Always nice to read your commonsense remarks Ian. Having lived in this region for over 40 years, including a long residence in the Samarian Hills, I have to tell you that coexistence with the Arabs of the region was possible until Israeli Gov policies pushed by European agenda, brought in terrorist leader Arafat and his kleptocrat gang, to ruin the delicate balance of live and let live between Jews and Arabs, and basically bring a curse on the Arab village population at the same time. Today the Arab younger generation has been methodically brainwashed by anti-Israel/Jewish messages and taught admiration of terrorists and suicide bombers in school, and combined with Hamas Islamist activism this bodes ill for any early solution to all our problems.
34. Eulogy for the democratic state?
Susan ,   Kfar Saba   (10.29.12)
Shooting your political rivals is good for democracy? Beating protestors in order to shut them up because they disapprove of your politicies? No, Rabin himself was not good for democracy.
35. Rivlin
heman ,   sweden   (10.29.12)
Rivlins idea about one state for two people would be a real threat to the jewish state if it came true. But he´s right about that there can´t be any 2 state solution regarding to security matters. But if there would be a palestinian state it ought not to be much lager than the Vatican state and having it´s borders surronded by Israel. Best would be if palarabs who don´t can adapt to or live peaceful with jews in Israel, Judea or Samaria got a moneyoffer to emigrate to settle down in another country.
36. oslo was always doomed but we must keep up the charade
zionist forever   (10.29.12)
We can't go back now but what Rabin should have done was do a deal with the US to create an international fund and give Jordan a huge pay off and in exchange King Hussain would have given citizenship by default to all the palestinians. It would have imposed a solution and then he could have any help he wanted hunting down the PLO if they made trouble for him. We would have given him a percentage of Judea & Samaria as a kind of visible prize everything else would have been officially annexed to Israel and the Jordanian property owners would be encouraged to sell to either the government or JNF. The arabs could be granted a residency permit so providing they obey the law they could live as Jordanians in Israel although all would initially be encouraged to leave. Sadly its to late for that now because Jordan won't go along with it and we have created the PA who won't go along with it. I don't pretend to have all the solutions but what we must not do is stop talking about a desire to create a palestinian state ( we must not officially kill oslo ) because as long as two states is our goal the world will be happy with that. Once we say oslo is dead then Israel's secular left, the arabs and the west ( US included ) will say two states is impossible so Israel must give citizenship to all the arabs. We need to play smart politics and not let the idealists on either the right or left lead the way because they will both lead us to destruction. Tell the world what they want to hear but at the same time don't make rushed decisions and think through any potential side effects that will come from our actions.
37. #33Thank you
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (10.29.12)
Israeli grandma has been kind enough to confirm my strong impression of the situation by drawing on her on-the-spot experience. I should say that I visited Judea and Samaria as long ago as 1978 and can honestly say that I experienced no hostility then. The Arab population were generally friendly and hospitable, even in Hebron, and were pleased with the stability and prosperity that Israel had brought. There seems to have been a human disaster visited on the people who live there now brought about because terrorists have been allowed to establish themselves in power....and I mean power.Arafat was a monster who fooled everybody and Abbas and his cronies are no better. The best that can be said is that if a time does arrive when it becomes imperative to bring this farcical tragedy to an end, there'll be no doubt who'll need to be dealt with;Abbas(or his successor),his Fatah cronies and those terrorists in uniforms who don't have the sense to see that the game's up. I hope that it can be done peacefully.A suggestion;next time Abbas and his cronies are grandstanding at the UN,don't let them back in. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
