1. idiotic!!! whoever approved this should be fired
PG ,   Tel Aviv   (11.01.12)
Throughout many years the Ministry of Tourism has never been known for smart, clever or good ads. But this sinks to the most stupid, idiotic and ridiculous level they've ever gotten to. Go back to the 80's when "Come to Israel, Come Stay With Friends" became a catch-phrase and tune sung by all. Whoever thought this up should have his/her head examined - and whoever approved it at the Ministry of Tourism should be fired - or shot by the actress in this ad. STUPID and embarrassing to Israel.
2. Show Haredim becoming secular and we will come to witness.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.01.12)
3. Unless You AreJewish I Can't Imagine ....
World Citizen ,   the world   (11.01.12)
Why Anyone Would Want To Visit Israel. It's not like there aren't plenty of places in the Med with warm, sunny beaches. The attitudes of the locals are better and the prices are much less expensive. And then there is the issue of the Israeli treatment of the Palestinian people. Why would any civilised person spend money in such a state?
4. this is the image we don't want to potray
zionist forever   (11.01.12)
Many people in the west who have never visited Israel before get their first impressions of what its like from the media, see everybody going round in military uniform and thinking we go to war every other day. It also congers up images of illegal occupations which isn't going to win us any points. I was staying in a hostel in Jerusalem once and there was somebody there from the UK and he had been traveling around the region a little and he had just come to Israel from Egypt and he was telling me how he felt terrified in Israel with armed soldiers on every street corner. Would somebody like this have even put Israel on their plans of places to visit if the tourist board was advertising Israel's as all being soldiers? Keep the army out of the adds but also make the adds themselves modern not just show the beaches and holy places. Sell Israel as a country that people want to come to for lots of reasons.
5. Israeli advertising style
Aaron ,   Toronto, Canada   (11.01.12)
This commercial is simply stupid. If you want to see a stupid and a degrading one, watch the Shlomo Sixt car rental commercials in English. They seem to enjoy making a complete idiot out of an American tourist by the name of Barbara.
6. To @ 3 World Citizen.
Jusanz77 ,   Vzla.   (11.01.12)
To @ 3. World Citizen. It seems that more than 3 million tourists every year not agree with your point of view. Your complaint is about the very human envy, or because others are better able to achieve the same thing can not???
7. Don't you complain ,...
split ,   US   (11.01.12)
This is your state of mind molded over the years by warmongering spin masters. You can't imagine how weird and pathetic you look with your attempts to sell this crap to others or counting that someone 'll buy it ,...
8. "World Citizen": stay tf outahere please. Really! The "world"
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.01.12)
is right for you!
9. I like the commercial
Brian ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (11.01.12)

10. I would SURRENDER at the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!

11. Blatant sexism - you kinda forgot to mention that
Ariella ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (11.01.12)
You make good points but how do you not mention the blatant sexism of this video?
12. To # 3
Alejandro ,   Santo Domingo, D.R.   (11.01.12)
For your information, I am not Jewish, But Israel is one of my favorite countries (I have been to many). I love the land, the people, and the way they have defended themselves against their evil genocidal enemies. Many other gentiles agree with me. Sorry, racist hypocritical, liar.
13. Israel's tourism advertisement
Isaac Shladovsky ,   East Windsor   (11.01.12)
Come on, Itay, get a sense of humor. The same goes for all who for one reason or another found this advertisement offensive. To all of you, I say, sit back and have a chuckle.
14. How civilized is a country whose journalist is a see thru
Sarita Montiel ,   Israel   (11.01.12)
anti-war advocate BEFORE He makes a comment about the use of women and the image of women in this campaign! More blatant than the war scenes is the sexism presented. Why not write about that?
15. What a failure
David ,   Israel   (11.01.12)
Unfortunately Israelis are too stubborn to really think outside their own square when it comes to attracting outside tourism. Who on Earth would be attracted to come to Israel from this? Why not do the same for Bosnia and Afghanistan?
16. Intended Audience is.......
Ellen ,   Israel/NYC   (11.01.12)
I may be wrong, but this is in HEBREW, isn't this directed at Israelis, not at foreign tourists. Isn't the idea to get Israeli residents/citizens to invite others. Doesn't have to be on a foreign wave length, it does have to appeal to the Israeli mentality.

zionist forever   (11.01.12)
I agree it is slightly humorous but the problem is not all this nonsense about women that some people seem to be taking so seriously but its not projecting a very good image. The last thing we need to be advertising the country as is one of war. Showing the woman playing soldier like that only makes people who have never visited Israel before take all the stuff they hear on the news about war and terror going on in Israel much more seriously and is more likely to make them actually think twice about going to Israel. Humor is good yes but you need the humor to help project the kind of image you want people to have about the country.
18. my commercial
zionist forever   (11.02.12)
It starts with a whole load of haredi acting all haredi like. Just when you think this is a commercial about religion they suddenly strip off and go for swim on the beach in Tel Aviv and the wives in bathing suits. Israel - home of religion - to sandy beaches and haredi who know how to have a good time.
19. It is a shame
AJ ,   Jerusalem   (11.02.12)
When will the Israeli's realize that their society is build on war tactics ,it is something not new for the rest of the world only to you maybe is . Every move you do it shows soldiers , missiles, boarders ,,,,The American built in their people's mind that Russia is coming to destroy them and Israel has done to their own people about the Middle East ,,,,,,at the end people forget that we are one of the most expensive country in the world with little income and getting behind in education and normal life .What does Nenatyaho do fool his people again and again ,,,,,
20. #2 Or why not...
Alex   (11.02.12)
Showing seculars becoming Haredim...? Seriously, grow up your Judaism-hate rantings are getting tiresome... For the note I'm not religious, but you should really get your head examined. You're obsessed.
21. #15 Well...
Alex   (11.02.12)
This wasn't a tourist commercial, it was a commercial for Israelis to invite tourists. I agree it would have been pretty bad if this was a tourist commercial broadcasted in the US or EU...
22. #7 Well...
Tahl   (11.02.12)
Perhaps we wouldn't need to be such 'warmongerers' when defending our own home, if your ancestors would have let us live peacefully among them instead of joyfully slaughtering us.
23. #20 Alex, You nailed it, I am obsessed.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.02.12)
Obsessed with putting the world back on the path to righteousness. To accomplish this, Haredim need to be reformed. You don't have to agree with me because I don't care. Fir your information, I am also obsessed about soccer and turtles on Galapagos. So? Please, don't dictate to me what I can or cannot be obsessed about. Feel free to take care of your own back yard, just like I am. Yes, Israel is my back yard in which I invested.
24. Was this commertial addressed to foreigners, Itay Segal?
leo ,   usa   (11.02.12)
25. Totally right on.
mea   (11.02.12)
26. Bamba
Mark ,   Israel   (11.02.12)
It would be better to show Israelis eating Bamba rather than a battle scene. Pull this campaign and start all over again.
27. Israeli Tourist Board are missing a trick
Tim ,   Brighton   (11.02.12)
First there is a growing trend for Desert Retreat Holidays around the world for the adventure relatively unspoilt beauty and seclusion this gives The Negev is a fabulous space to develop a series self contained FAMILY Water Parks, Lidos and Activity Villages as well as Tented Retreats for the adventurous and Luxury Villas for the well heeled - especially as more water for leisure becomes available Yes Israel is rich in history and heritage but there is also another Tourist to be catered for..Leisure Holiday Families - affordable, packed with activities, safe and above all plenty of sun We also need to promote Israeli Cuisine alot more...from the Falafel to Fusion and my favourite The Big Israeli Breakfast! From Tunisian and Iraqi to Indian and Chinese and European..Israel should be a foodies paradise We also need to Actively promote more Tourist shopping too...not just the odd mug..but we need to define and promote Israeli Fashion. I sometimes see what I think are flashes...of a definitive cool Israeli Fashion look but we need to see alot more...Fashion Shopping by Tourists in London for British Fashion and Accessories for example is worth $billions every year
28. Its amazing how the fascist minds works
Ahmet, Turkey ,   Turkey   (11.02.12)
Israel has become a blackhole of hatred, ugliness and fascism. What goes around, comes around.
29. Re fascist minds - # 28
Kate ,   London, UK   (11.02.12)
This from a man whose nation, Turkey, carried out one of the worst genocides in human history against the Armenians and still has one of the worst human rights records in the world.
30. Ahmet @28, how?
