1. More Faux Jews Giving Us A Bad Name
American Taurus ,   LA-JM   (11.13.12)
Lock 'em up for life. Pathetic swindling thugs. Money that could have went to the people of the State for social services goes to three noodnicks with no conscience. Put 'em away for the rest of their lousy lives. These aren't Jews: they're mongrels.
2. Ah the Police, why can't they understand:God works in myster-
tom ,   tel aviv   (11.13.12)
ious ways... Who are we, mere mortals to say where our state-money should go!? These pure souls/tzaddikim are just doing Bruce Almighty's work... Shame on the Israeli Police!!!
3. That is the problem with the unchecked growth of the state
Ron ,   Melbourne, Australia   (11.13.12)
Yes, there are dishonest people in all walks of life. We can't protect ourselves 100% but there is a big difference in the state using its coercive power to take money from people for causes that they apposed (e.g. taking money from secular people to pay for Haredi education) and to add insult to injury manage it it with the caution of 'someone else money' - for 7 years you tax dollars were paying for something you do not support by someone who had little care (if at all)... Expected when you can take someone money to be used to something he/she totally apposes
4. Thank you Hanna
Jerome ,   AKL   (11.13.12)
You see we are being swindled by these con thugs, but you refuse to accept it. I have been telling you again and again that you are wasting our hard earned cash on kosher products and kosher meat. There is nothing in the world to justify why we pay 400% more for kosher meat and chicken compared with the local supermarket. You are paying for the butcher's Maserati, but you insist on funding these harAdis crooks- Imach Shmam v'ezikram!
5. Hareedi religious values
David ,   Haifa, IL   (11.13.12)
I cant say im surprised by this , its just the tip of the iceberg. the fact is its tax payers money they are stealing, but i guess the concept of ding an honest days work and paying taxes like the rest of us is a foreign concept to these people. These are the very same people preaching to others "i am hollier than thou" well apparently not
6. stealing money from the government
dmmd ,   bronx   (11.13.12)
the act of theft is illegal. how the money was used is not an issue. these people are doubly guilty since as orthodox people they should answer to a higher authority in addition to the authorities. It is no less than a Chilul Hashem.
7. more shame on Israel
Michael   (11.13.12)
The shameful Haredi... they bring shame on the entire Jewish people. Israel is doomed with these people running political parties and dictating policy in Israel. Shame, shame, shame.
8. correction: school real, association fake
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (11.13.12)
The school, which does not recognize the Israeli state, is a real school. The men made up the association for the school to get money supposedly for the school, but real intents was to keep it for themselves. In reality the funding association was real; it just did not deliver the money since the school was never connected to the funding association. Where there is cheese there are rats; where there is money, there are crooks.
9. Swindlers infest all societies
Israeli grandma   (11.13.12)
The Haredi school/yeshiva scams put to shame all the genuine institutions. Good that the police are dealing with this kind of criminal activity. Its really a hillul hashem committed by so-called ultra orthodox Jews who should know better!
10. Olmert too, but he will likely go free and not these guys.
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (11.13.12)
11. separate religion from state!!
nadav ,   israel   (11.13.12)
religion should not mix with the State!
12. fictitious schools, fictitious yeshivas, faked attendance,
Avi   (11.13.12)
Corruption is very high in the haredi system, which makes perfect sense since it grows when there's no proper verification system, just like in the third world. How many remember the Ovda research on black money in the haredi areas? Despite the fact that they were supposed to study in the yeshiva 8 to 12 hours a day they said they could easily fit a full time job, but only if it's black money so they won't have to join the army. How many of you remember those occasional news articles of a rabbi who falsely filled his yeshiva attendance list so him and his 'students' could get money? The government greatly relies on simply their testimony and trusts them with hundreds of millions of hard earned shekels with nothing but their words. This is only natural, and it's our fault.
13. Funding abused
Malka ,   Australia   (11.13.12)
Call it what you will its an abomination of G-d
14. Fictitious story just to discredit haredim as usual
Dov ,   Israel   (11.13.12)
There's no mention in the story which school and in what city, lest it will be known that this entire story is fabricated to besmirch haredim. Typical jealous secular.
15. Number 11 state and religion
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (11.13.12)
There have been scams claiming money for non-existent students in other countries. It's not a religious issue. Language schools have asked for visas for overseas students who have no intention of studying, but pay a fee for the visa. Religion is not the key issue.
16. to #14: "fictitious story"
tom ,   toronto, canada   (11.13.12)
so i guess you wouldn't mind if the police beat these fictitious criminals, to teach them a little torah, such as not to steal? because they're only fictitious...
17. You've been doing this kind of thing for 2000 years...TATA.
Edithann ,   USA   (11.13.12)
18. C'MON PEOPLE GET REAL
BEN JABO (MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (11.13.12)
How many of you can say that you've never cheated or evaded some of you taxes ?
