1. Excellent!
Yossef   (11.13.12)
I like the frog metaphor :-)
2. Try pounding that into dumb leftist heads:Mission Impossible

3. All Too True
emanon ,   USA   (11.13.12)
If you want a preview, look at the recent developments in Sedrot after the disaster of Gush Katif and Gaza. Rather let Syria Jordan and Lebanon absorb its own people back to their native lands.
4. Sad but true
David Sher   (11.13.12)
Unfortunately, this is true. The only true security Israel can have is if they can pay Palestinians to move to other areas and annex the west bank. Its a shame that Sheldon Adelson did not use his money for this sort of thing rather than trying to buy the U.S. election. A permanent solution would put Israel in permanent control of all of the land that it now holds.
5. So Guy, what should be done?
(11.13.12)
What do you suggest?
6. Palestenians
John ,   Cardiff   (11.13.12)
Very plausible story but neither Israelis nor the Palestenians are frogs!,
7. #5 Mandate Palestine
Igor ,   Germany   (11.13.12)
I'm not Guy, but I remember that Mandate Palestine consisted of what is now Jordan, Judea, Samaria, Gaza and Israel proper. Even if we leave Israel proper out of the equation, there should be enough room in the remaining Mandate Palestine area for all "Palestinians".
8. Palestinian State
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (11.13.12)
Israel can control the Golan, Jordan Valley, demilitarized West Bank (even Gaza) for security reasons. If Qataris,Saudis and Americans want to cover every Palestinian roof (inc.exiled people) with 24K Gold they can do it. With the help of Jewish innovators, the region may become more productive than East Asia. But US to become world's biggest oil producer before 2020 and Gulf States are buying European soccer teams and downtown 5-star hotels of the western capitals because of future drained ME oil reserves ( Iran excluded) Today nobody wants to help Palestinians (themselves too) I afraid, someday Israel will commit two sins. Touching the Temple Mount and expelling the Arabs. Even the fellow Jews won't believe their eyes when they see it. Unfortunately.
9. Demographics with or without a Palestinian state...
Ben Alofs ,   Bangor, UK   (11.13.12)
are bound to have a profound impact sooner or later. If Israel refuses to give Palestinians in the Occupied Territories their rights it becomes an open apartheid state. Expelling hundreds of thousands of Palestinians is no longer acceptable, not even in the eyes of the USA, Israel's protector. Israel looks like a Zionist frog that decided to jump in the cool, deep well without taking into account that the well was already inhabited by Palestinian and other Arab frogs, who are much more numerous. Therefore it needs to adapt and blend into the neighbourhood and give the Palestinian frogs their rights or otherwise sooner or later be expelled as aliens from the cool, deep well.
10. #5 easy answer
(11.13.12)
Martin Sherman explained the only logical solution about two months ago.
11. If the left
E. G. Marsch ,   Nahariya, Israel   (11.13.12)
accepts these sensible, reality-based points...it ceases to exist. Or, all that would be left it is some ridiculous, jejune, populist socialism in the economic sphere. If it is not pushing to create Palestine, the left simply has almost no purpose or reason to exist. So it cannot open its eyes.
12. Fear mongering
Jake Singer ,   NYC USA   (11.14.12)
This opinion is just feeding the fear of Palestinians. Your underlying assumption is that Jews can't get along with Palestinians. You forget that even in Israel, there are towns where Israeli Jews and Israeli Palestinians (chrisitans and muslims) live and work side by side. Even joining causes together most recently seen fighting gentrification. In the West Bank, Israeli Jews protect Palestinian demonstrators against the heavy handed tactics of the occupation. Putting themselves in harms way to shield the palestinians during peaceful demonstrations. The Palestinians love these jews, eat with them remaining life long friends. Unfortunately your subtext paints a picture of Israeli Jews as exclusionary and isolationists. I wish more writers would focus on the humanistic Jews of Israel and show our good and descent sides.
13. funny
jonny ,   norway   (11.14.12)
some one had too much time on there hand by writing fiction story... there was never and there will never be a Palestinian state. those people are not civilized enough to have state. if Jerusalem was under Palestinian control, it will be the dump of the earth..
14. Side-steps the main issue: illegal settlements and occupatio
(11.14.12)
15. Jews who support Palestinian state, don't care @ Israel
Steve   (11.14.12)
16. Jake # 12: Are you really so naive?
Steve Klein   (11.14.12)
Do you really believe what you wrote or is it wishful thinking? Of course there are notable exceptions as you point out. Do you really think an independent Palestinian state in Israel will be anything other than a terror state, dedicated to Israel's destruction?
17. #12
Alex   (11.14.12)
"Putting themselves in harms way to shield the palestinians during peaceful demonstrations. The Palestinians love these jews, eat with them remaining life long friends." - You're just describing the Israeli extreme left, they'd glady sacrifice theirselves for the palestinians but gives a damn about Israel and avoids IDF draft in all ways possible. They have no reason for being in Israel. There are even a minority of loyal Israeli-Arabs who'd fight next to Jews against our enemies, but they're a small group. These deserve to live in Israel just like any Jew, the others should be stripped of their citizenship. Lieberman's citizen law is a first step in the right direction.
18. #14 When will you learn...
Alex   (11.14.12)
Settlements are a non-issue. There's this thing called landswaps, which has been discussed before and Kadima even offered the pallys a state with lands swaps where Israel would keep the settlements in exchange for Israeli land. The easiest solution is: Majority populated Arab areas to a future Arab state and majority Jewish areas to Israel. Finito, conflict solved.
19. Are you crazy?
Palestinian ,   Nablus   (11.14.12)
Israel is missing too many opportunities to end the conflict for ever and extend its relations in the Middle East. The Palestinians are more than disposed and ready to coexist with Israel. You surely have more information about our leadership whom we used to trust ,but Israel is making them look ridiculous even traitors because they signed Oslo and cancelled the PLO charter for the sake of the peace. Strength can't last for ever and neither weakness. You have a golden opportunity to grab and don't push the injured people to corner.WE ARE PEACE SEEKER.
20. It's obvious to any child who can read a map.
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
It's obvious to any child, who can read a map, that the Two State Final Solution would destroy Israel within a decade. This is not a topic on which adults, of average or above intelligence, should waste their time. Israel gets nothing but suffering from each and every retreat. Israeli retreat must end forever. NO TWO STATE FINAL SOLUTION EVER! Period.
21. We're screwed both ways!!!
You've ,   Tel aviv   (11.14.12)
It doesn't matter if our underware is red or black, we're going to get big time. It's time to move to America, the true land of milk and honey....
22. There is ONE land and ONE state...it is
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (11.14.12)
called Israel...the rest is politics...
23. I salute this article !
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (11.14.12)
24. Peace ONLY via BALANCE, balance ONLY via SECURE BIG ISRAEL.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (11.14.12)
25. Physiology and politics
PaulZion ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
Physiologically, frogs do not have big brains and have not evolved since the dinosaur age. The same here, Mr Bechor. You present your speculations as "facts" and draw far reaching conclusions from these speculations. I do not call that responsible journalism. As if a bi-national state would be better for Israel...I have lived under apartheid. It is not nice, and never stays within the bounds of restrictions to the disenfranchised only. The oppression seeps through to all facets of society. So, I would not be too hasty to welcome that soplution, either.
26. I'm not so sure about one thing
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / israel   (11.14.12)
The ersatz "Palestine" Authority has been in existence for quite some time. How many ersatz "Palestinians" have flocked there from other parts of the world in order to help build a state? No one. Af ahad. It's not as if they are Jews.
27. A different aproach of the problem
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (11.14.12)
is needed. From the sand deserts of Transjordan territory a flourishing oasis must be done. Israel is world leading country in sea water desalinasation. In Eilat and Aqaba gigantic such plants must be created. If the project is succesful the political problems are automatically solved.
28. bad assumption
Danny   (11.14.12)
Palestinian state will not "welcome with open arms" the "refugees" and Israel will come under pressure to take them in
29. I would not buy a used car from these left leaders
Zev ,   Israel   (11.14.12)
So why would I listen to their nonsense about making peace with the Palestinians. They are either stupid or downright criminal. They are not even ashamed of their record of bringing nothing but tragedy to the Israeli people. Just ask the people living in the south.
30. The problem simply defies realistic resolution
Cameron ,   USA   (11.14.12)
