"2,203 arrived from countries with high rates of HIV". Can you spell, "Africa"?
2. connection? gays and hiv?
ma nishma ,   modiin   (11.30.12)
Has anyone made the connection between gay rights, gay pride, gay parades and the rise in HIV? Where as we allow and encourage men to become gay, as the same time it is they, according to all reports, that are the chief spreaders and victims of HIV. Straight one-woman men and one-man women marriage do not suffer this plight, neither as carriers or victims. THINK before doing.

6. #2 Ignorance kills- connection Ignorant hetros and HIV
HIV + ,   ISR   (12.02.12)
How sad to read your posting, it amzes me how ignorant some people really are. Unlike your , HIV does not discriminate and we are all risk. You attempt to blaim the gay community while at the same time attack gay rights. Your hypocracy and ignornace knows no limits. If same sex couples were given couple status in the first place there would be less promicious behavior. You are an insult to everyone who is HIV positive. Keep preaching that this is a gay disease and your children will grow up as ignorant as yo are. I got HIV from my husband who it turns out had an affair with a women who was infected. Happy now are you?
7. strange no interest
ma nishma ,   modiin   (12.02.12)
Judging by the low number of feed backs, it seems that this article is not too popular. It is a shame since it is morally pertinent and a important health issue.
8. What does the HIV virus look like?

Has it been isolated yet under a microscope?

I am truly sorry for your plight, but your statement: "If same sex couples were given couple status in the first place there would be less promicious behavior." It is well documented that gays engage in much outside of their partner relationships. It is just the outside of marriage relationships that got you infected and keeps the virus moving. Think: If all HIV people would stop outside relationships, HIV would die with these people and it would cease to exist. But it will never happen since it is just this that keeps the virus moving and expanding.

I am glad that the level of ignorance in Israel must be lower considering the number of talk-backers on this topic has significantly dropped over the years. Still, the complete stupidity displayed by most of the talk-backers is frightening. Gay=AIDS is NOT a truth. Nor does Africa=AIDS or USSR=AIDS. What spreads HIV/AIDS is a virus. The virus is not picky as to a persons country of origin, nor their sexual orientation. The virus spreads from one infected patient to another person via cloudy bodily fluids: semen, vaginal secretions, blood, and breast milk. If enough virus particles are found in these fluids and these fluids enter another person's bloodstream the virus is transferred. Fortunately today there are drugs that can be taken after a potential exposure that can prevent the virus from taking hold. Sadly in Israel there are still too many people who want to lay blame or accuse one group or another for the spread of HIV/AIDS. The reality is the only person to blame is oneself. In this day and age if you stick your head in the proverbial sand, and assume that taking an active role in protecting yourself from HIV/AIDS is somehow negative. You have become a victim of your own ignorance. HIV/AIDS will continue to spread in Israel because we as a culture still act like teenagers. Individually none of us believe we will ever contract the disease. "HIV is something someone else will get but not me...no matter what I do. Nor am I promiscuous enough to be at risk" The reality is even married people are at risk. Unless you are 100% certain your partner is 100% faithful 100% of the time (and who can be that certain of another) YOU are at risk.

Yes, using EM (electronic microscopy). The sampling for the isolation to recover large amount of viral particles were made form lymphatic tissue. http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HIV-1_Transmission_electron_micrograph_AIDS02bbb_lores.jpg
