1. Isn't that the idea?
Stephen in New York   (11.15.12)
In war disproportionate force is used to defeat the enemy. Israel should only be allowed to use harsh language?
2. Putin curiously indifferent to
Stephen in New York   (11.15.12)
civilian deaths in Syria.
3. Russia Has Zero Credibility!
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville USA   (11.15.12)
Russia continues to be one of the world's most duplicitous and sleazy nations. They are directly responsible for the slaughter in Syria and as such they have no right to demand anything of Israel - or any other nation, for that matter.
4. hypocracy
jim ,   boston, usa   (11.15.12)
russia lecturing israel on disproportionate use of force... what a joke.

6. russia
sam tayar ,   montreal   (11.15.12)
Ever use "disproportionate strikes" on your enemies, inside & outside russia? Frustrated with the lack of power, influence and attention? Feel russia is "too big to break up" again?
7. putin
mike ,   Seattle   (11.15.12)
Like the rest of the world, Putin was totally silent while missiles were slamming into Israel by the hundreds. It is only when Jews decide to defend themselves that he bothers to speak up. This from a guy who would not hesitate to kill his own people to stay in power.
8. Funny to talk about 'disproportion' ....
robert r ,   belgium   (11.15.12)
... when you totally destroyed Chechnya killing 40.000 civilians.
9. Double Faced
(11.15.12)
This coming from a man who almost exterminated the Chechen people.
10. Russia strongly condemned Israel's "disproportionate" use of
Ray stuart ,   Zurich/ Israel   (11.15.12)
Israel have responded to the indiscriminate rocket attacks from Gaza with pin point strikes on Hamas rocket launch positions etc .If the IDF were indiscriminat then a lot more Gazans would have been killed, not like the rocket, missile attacks from Gaza which aim to kill unarmed citizens of southern Israel .. Get a life Putin !!!

12. Putin
Casey ,   Great State of Texas   (11.15.12)
Hey Mr. Putin...did you take your own advice when you started the Second Chechen War and killed thousands in the process? You may have been justified with military action in Chechnya and justified when you targeted Chechen separatist leader Shamil Basayev in 2006..so keep your worthless opinion to yourself and let the Israelis do what they need to do.
13. And how about Syria Mr. Putin
ACortez ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (11.15.12)
Does anybody take Russia seriously anymore...outside of Obama that is.
14. Putin urges Netanyahu to avoid escalation
Josef Yamin ,   Lakewood, NJ USA   (11.15.12)
Putin? Who is he? Throw the bum out!
15. DISPROPORTIONATE RESPONSE
Robert ,   Israel   (11.15.12)
Putin, please remind us all about the "disproportionate response" you exercised over Georgia several years ago when YOU killed over a thousand Georgians in a couple of days. Then and only then, you can start talking about "disproportionate response" over Gaza. YOU CYNIC !
16. No more games. Do what it takes for total victory!
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.15.12)
"Disproportionate" is a ludicrous idea for a boxing match. Let alone for war. Israel must stop playing games with our genocidal enemies. Do what it takes for total victory. Like the WW II Allies. This land is ours. Our enemies must go.
17. really vlad?
robert ,   stamford ct USA   (11.15.12)
didn't you poison a whole movie theatre? and you talk about israel's response?
18. Gerogia says hey to 'proportional response', Russia.
(11.15.12)
19. Don't be surprised, Russia is pro-Arab
Tom W ,   USA   (11.15.12)
Since the '67 war Soviet/Russia always supported the Arabs. Unlike Americans who throw regularly their friends "under the bus" at the whim of their leaders, Russians are rather steadfast supporters of the Arabs against Israel. There is no difference between Brezhnev and Putin in this regard.
20. Chechnia, Vladimir? Disprortionate up yours!
bob ,   potomac md usa   (11.15.12)
21. I'm not going to even get into Russia's syria
the mad zionist ,   sf-ny-is   (11.15.12)
conflict. But to say for the area to go back to normal is basically saying for Israel to stop its retaliation and just go back to the militants firing rockets, because that's exactly what the norm was before. I mean this has got to be a joke right? Syria telling the world that Israel is causing the region be destabilized because of the potential loss of lives of civilians. and Russia saying that this could lead to civilians getting killed. I mean seriously? the world seems to be smartening a bit. there aren't massive amounts of pleas right now, where in the past the world would have had their panties in a bunch. Israel needs to pound the militants for the next week. they usually learn for a short period of time. but Israel's leaders needs to keep announcing to the world that if rockets continue to fall on Israel, they will launch a ground op that won't stop until every terrorist is killed or expelled. and they need to make very clear that if there is a ceasefire, then if even one rocket is fired at Israel, then Israel won't be forgiving and will clean house. but Israel's leaders need to be more effective with their voice. it's the only way they can play the tape and say we warned them. the world seems to think Israel lost its strength, but what they don't realize is that Israel was being the good guy. but I warn Israel's enemies, when the gloves come off, you will never know what hit you!! Jake
22. Putin
Henio ,   Berlin germany   (11.15.12)
Hey Putin, when Gaza will look like Grosny after you ordered proportionate strikes is this what you mean Israel should do instead ?
23. For readers', not Putin's, information:
Naftush ,   Israel   (11.15.12)
In international law, the permissible "proportional" response is one that's proportional relative to the threat that it's meant to eliminate. For example, we can't flatten an entire neighborhood in Gaza for every missile fired from the Strip, but we can legally do what's necessary to eliminate the menace almost irrespective of collateral damage. If that sounds "not nice," ask Mr. Putin about how he dealt with the Chechen "menace."
24. Dear Putin, STFU
Mea   (11.15.12)
25. Russians must want to vomit that their leader's a dirtbag.
David ,   Hartford USA   (11.15.12)
Putin is a throwback to Stalin- and needs to be removed from office. Forget the Arab Spring- the world needs a Russian Spring. Putin is in no position to tell anyone how to conduct themselves. He has the blood of thousands of Syrians on his hands and should be brought up on charges for obstructing the UN.
26. Russia strongly condemned Israel's "disproportionate" use of

27. pin point strikes vs. polonium
(11.15.12)
Mr. Putin, Are the pin point strikes on Hamas’s criminals disproportional? What is a proportional respond to the thousands rockets from Gaza? Does Israel have to use polonium instead?
28. not disproportionate
Ellen ,   Israel/NYC   (11.15.12)
When Gilad Shalit was released Hamas told Israel that one Israel life was worth 1000 Arab ones. 1:1000, Israel has not approached it. Israel is being very kind and generous.
29. putin
steve ,   usa   (11.15.12)
Ynet, would you please reprint the text of Shimon Peres' speech this week thanking the Russians for all they have done for the Jewish people. I need another laugh.
30. Crawl back into your hole Putin
Oren ,   Florida   (11.15.12)
Where the hell did this guy come from and since when is any Russian politician an expert on conflict resolution?? Screw Putin, send in the buldozers and raze Gaza to the ground!
