61. @45 you are the one who heil from those places
Miron ,   USA   (11.20.12)
Read linguists and history. Have you ever heard anyone talking to you that way? They value you for your being a good greaze for their wheel of war. The trouble is they brainwashed you to believe that's all there is to you.
62. "keep their hearts free of hatred"
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (11.20.12)
Come off it! Don't try telling me that I shouldn't hate terrorists like Hamas and Islamic Jihad. These are the monsters who spoil the world for the rest of us. I'm not ready to be an appeaser. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
63. how can American Jews accept this?
JR ,   USA   (11.20.12)
American Jews were at the forefront of turning America into a multicultural, multi-ethnic state and nowadays their vision, for what its worth, has spread to other developed countries causing intense resentment and social problems. At the same time many feel they have a right to emigrate to Israel and live on land previously inhabited by Arabs . In the nation-state of Israel American Jews are not so keen on ''celebrating diversity''. If Jewish intellectuals and activists had not destroyed America with self-serving demands for open immigration it would be possible to feel sympathy for their position on Israel as a state primarily for Jews.
64. well Doc.
GAZAN ,   Gaza   (11.21.12)
Well Doc , that's a good word , but you have to know that we in Gaza are being bombarded day and night , horror , undescribable horror . will this bring about a peace loving generation? or just hatred? Dr Abu al Aish is really shocked as a result of losing his daughters , but psychologically he blames him self guilty for their killing . No dr , do not do that to your self , do not be impressed by these Israelis comments here
65. Dear Doctor
DOTAN ,   USA   (11.21.12)
Lets us be open and as much as possible objective. We are sorry for suffering on both side of the border. I doubt that there is -maybe in some JUNGLE- people that kill their brothers in open square and drag them with a motor byke-. Are this the people that Israel should trust? These are BARBARIANS!
66. Stand down
RAF ,   Canada   (11.21.12)
There is nothing worse than losing a child, never mind three. What parent would not give their own life a thousand times over rather than lose a child. Allow this good man to grieve. His article is part of that grieving process. I, too, believe that Hamas and its brothers in hate and lies (including the Muslim Brotherhood) are solely to blame for the death of the daughters of Dr Abu al-Aish and so many other completely unnecessary deaths. There is no crime worse than killing in the name of God, But surely we can feel and identify with the pain of Dr Abu al-Aish. Surely we can allow him some space within which to see things differently and to try and make sense of his personal horror. Yes, we have many reasons to be angry and to strike out. But do we really need to direct our anger at Dr Abu al-Aish? There are many far more deserving targets of our anger than this grieving parent.
67. W#hy does Ynet believe everything
Reuven   (11.21.12)

68. sound of peace dies in israel
Jalal ,   Gaza   (11.21.12)

69. 45 Israel has the right to exist as a Jewish nation
(11.21.12)
THAT is what a Zionist is! We are ALL Zionists!! Am Israel Chai!!!
70. 63. what the heck r u talking about
(11.21.12)
Read the Statue of Liberty some time ... it is not the fault of American Jews that the US is and has always been an immigrant state. With that said, I readily admit that we Jews have our share of morons like any other people... but tell me, do you blame all Brits because of Chamberlain? ... or all Christians because of Woodrow Wilson's creation of the League of Nations that led to the United Nations?... or all Christians because of the KKK? No of course you don't, because you are NOT that foolish. We Jews are not willing to accept collective responsibility for the actions of the imbeciles amongst us, especially when SO MANY OF US are working to stop them even harder than you are!
71. Say no to hate!
Christian ,   Suomi Finland   (11.21.12)
Sensible Palestinians - Hamas and other alikes - do not benefit you - as you can see, when looking at the results! And what Hamas seeks - just more hate and violence - and power and money to it leaders! And what G. Meir has said quite wisely: "What bothers me most is not that Arabs kill our children, but that they force us to kill theirs." #41 Do not mix Quran or Quran's Jesus, Isa - to Christian Bible and Biblical Jesus Christ! Of course there are also Middle Eastern Christians who have Jewish roots. Jesus also lived among Jews - but of course, there is no ethnicity or gender in resurrected Jesus Christ! But we Christians also believe that the land of Israel was promised to Jews - so also Christian Arabs and other ethnics should recognise this! Of course Israel as an earthly state has to treat its legal, historical minorities well - easier to say than done of course - when the situation is so inflamed!
72. all talkbacks
Ynnad ,   citizen of the world   (11.21.12)
dr doctor, unfortunately it seems that everyone leaving comments have completely not understood or ignored your polemic. I feel sorry for all of you on both sides, so full of hate and rage. you are more similar people than you could ever imagine and this useless finger pointing does not serve any purpose but to keep a blood feud lasting (just like the violence). the majority of people on earth want peace yet are blinded by those who seek to gain from hate. i don´t expect the world to change or you all to agree but at least the doctor can see this point as clearly as me, and if he can, it gives me hope for the future. "Violence will change nothing. After all, peace is not what you reach when the missiles stop. Peace is an internal situation of faith, security, serenity and compassion. Each of us has a duty to think independently and refuse to think and talk about "us and them":"
73. #74: hear, hear!
Arik ,   Haifa, Israel   (11.21.12)
Ynnad, I whole heartedly agree to your comments! Please believe: there are people on both sides of this conflict that want nothing more than for the violence from both sides to stop NOW. Whoever started, whoever thinks he has “truth” on his side is not important for me, I really don’t care. The history is in the past; accept that both peoples are here to stay today, so that we can build a more prosperous tomorrow together.
74. To # 6 You ask where is the ocupation?
(11.21.12)
There is no ocupation. On the other hand, there is a land air and sea blockade of Gaza by the IDF. This means that by International Law, Israel is responsable for the wellbeing of the people of Gaza. I am sure that evev Robbie Sable accepts this.
75. To # 12
Stan ,   Israel   (11.21.12)
Julie you are so arrogant !
76. My previous talkback was directed at #72 not #74 (obviously)
Arik ,   Haifa, Israel   (11.21.12)
77. Ending The Violence
Susan Hilde ,   Minneapolis, USA   (11.21.12)
I am on the side of people who work for dialogue, who listen, who do not blame and hate. There are such people on both sides. I can see why people hate. It is a normal human response to living in a conflict ridden area. If I lived in Ashqelon, I might hate Arabs. If I lived in Gaza, I might hate Israelis. I want to belive that I would not hate, but I have not been put to the test. I live in safety and comfort. I have talked to Israelis who have lost relatives in suicide bombings. I have talked to Palestinians who lost loved ones in Operation Case Lead. I have visited the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum in Jerusalem. I pray that the peacemakers on both sides can find a way to resolve the conflict. I don't know if they will, but I hope they do. I hope I have not offended anyone.
78. Gaza is NOT occupied
Dorn L ,   Atlanta GA   (11.21.12)
Dear Doctor, Israel withdrew from Gaza years ago. There are no Israelis there at all. Its not "occupied". And it is the Gazans who elected Hamas, knowing full well its genocidal goals. Now theye, and Israelis are suffering for it.
79. Why don't people undrstand that Islam is
Vardina   (11.21.12)
an ideology of zero tolerance and murder of those who do not convert to Islam? Peace can never prevail between normal people and fanatic murderers . Elimination of Islam is the only hope of peace.
80. #45 Palestenian
NRF ,   Montreal Canada   (11.22.12)
Wake up call, Jews were in the Jewish homeland in Israel, Gaza, Judea and Samaria before Mohammed was a glint is his fathers eye. YOU are the occupiers of OUR land, YOU were left to govern and proved that you are nothing better than disenfranchised terrorists that no Arab country wants. Iran is happy to pay you to blow yourselves up but not allow you to immigrate.
81. Deeply moved
Ilan ,   HaSharon, Israel   (11.22.12)
Dear Dr. Ezzeldeen, your story is truly moving - it is a tragic story, but one of hope. I resent the hateful comments on this article. They certainly do not represent my opinions, nor of most people I know. Your message is one of willing to talk and share. People do not understand it that way. I long for the day when YOU can invite me to your home, in Gaza or elsewhere nearby, and we can talk, peacefully in every sense of the word.
82. and you............
J ,   Israel   (11.22.12)
are an idiot
83. Dear Doctor
Ex-Gaza Activist ,   San Francisco   (11.22.12)
I want to start by sending my love for your children you have lost. I have lived in gaza from 2001 to 2005. I remember watching the disengagement and in my mind I was celebrating. I left after the disengagement because what I saw with my own eyes contradicted everything I believed in my heart. I saw buildings being destroyed and militants taking over. They did not give homes to my friends families in Gaza. After that I thought hard and long about the situation in Gaza. Hamas is more threatening to the Palestinian people than Israel is. I have in my computer videos of hamas militants using children as scouts(lookouts to make sure the cost is clear from Israeli soldiers). I'm hardly considered a fan of Israel, but what Israel just demonstrated to me in this operation is their desire not to fight. I saw then drop leaflets, text messages, phone calls. I must say that Israel demonstrated a restraint I have never seen before. I still am angry they don't call abbas to the table, but I must say what I know and see. The best thing for the Palestinian people are good hearted people like you calling out the injustices done against the Palestinian people from their own extremists. Once again, I can't believe I'm doing this, but I just gained allot of respect for Israel for restraining itself. Israel could have wiped gaza out, even after the bus bombing, but they took the high road. I'm very impressed. Peace to everyone, Taylor
84. Why do we fight?
Froike ,   NY NY   (11.22.12)
Dear Dr...my heartfelt condolences to all Gazzans who lost children, loved ones and property. However, unless Palestinians stop electing terrorists to lead them; Israel has no choice but to defend itself. Hamas, PLO, Hezbollah, all of these Terrorist Organizations have a common goal: To Kill Jews and make Israel Judenrein.... As long as these savages lead your people....their is no chance for peace. Hence, the vicious cycle will unfortunately continue ad infinitum.
85. Dr. Abulaish
Joy Johnston ,   Comox, Canada   (11.23.12)
Many of the people who post on this thread need to look at more history. Ex President of the USA Jimmy Carter sent time in Israel and the Occupied lands as an observer and had harsh words for the Israeli restrictions on Palestinians. Miko Peled has written a book "The General's Son" He grew up in Israel, trained as an Israeli 'Red Beret" and lost a niece in a suicide bombing. I would suggest many people need to read his words to learn about Israeli/Palestinian history.
86. Dr.al-Aish must tell hamas to stop attacking Israel
bob k ,   orlando usa   (11.25.12)
We can all feel very sorry for this man who lost his daughters so tragically through an Israeli shell but Israel did not target civilians - it was an accisdent. Hamas and the other terror groups attack Israeli civilians and call for Israel's destruction. No grievance of Palestinians justifies their targeting Israeli civilians. - iys a war crime. Dr. al Aish miust point the finger of blame at hamas et al and say"You are responsible for all Palestinian civilians deaths in this conflict. The arabs of Gaza are not occupied, they are totally controlled by hamas who they elected in the 2006 municipal elections. If they want peace they must demand hamas etc stop attacking Israel - its that simple. Until the doctor can do that, despite the risks to his relatives inGaza, his words are not true.
87. To salma
miri ,   israel   (11.27.12)
Israelis only understand the power of force !!!!! Isn't it the other way round ? We are a peaceful loving people and could live side by side with palestinians but instead you have chosen a group of terrorists to lead you and their goal is to destroy us.
