31. #1, you can't lump them alltogether
Jake ,   USA   (11.20.12)
65 years ago the Jewish world was quite fragmented, if there were misguided & confused rabbis in Europe that doesn't give you the right to chastise all rabbis everywhere.
32. being religious doesn't mean God wants to protect you
zionist forever   (11.20.12)
During the Gulf War out of all the missiles that Saddam Hussain sent very few hit Tel Aviv and the vast majority crashed into the sea, some even landed in Jordan. Hamas have fired around 1000 rockets so far and out of those 1000 only about 10-20 of them have even been fired at Tel Aviv and all of the ones that were got shot down, not a single rocket landed on a Tel Aviv sinner. Being religious is no guarantee of security. The only man to die in Israel in a rocket attack was a Chabad rabbi. Chabad are traditionally not ultra orthodox Jews who do plenty of praying but the ones trained in outreach work like this guy was are some of the nicest ultra orthodox Jews you could meet. If God decoded not to protect one rabbi what makes this idiot so certain that Bnei Barak won't be hit if the attacks continue for long enough? In a way its actually sinful what he is saying because he is pretty much telling people don't worry I personally guarantee no rockets will hit here and I know what God plans.
33. Modi'in didn't get hit either. Neither did Ramat HaSharon.
Israelit ,   Israel   (11.20.12)
Idiot.
34. Perhaps the Rabbi is right. Bnei Brak is filthy.
Essie HaKohane ,   FL USA   (11.20.12)
Bnie Brak provides a perfect and natural environment for the Arab to live . Why should they shoot their rockets there if they would feel so much at home under those disgusting conditions. Haredi and Arabs deserve each other.
35. They're your problem now ;) ,...
snag ,   USA   (11.20.12)
There are some leftover rumps here and there in Europe but hopefully they 'll take a hike too ,...
36. zivron @ 1 - then hiched rides to safety
snag ,   USA   (11.20.12)
Not before they convinced their flock to deposit all their savings, gold and valuables in their coffers to pop up with the loot in "promised land" or Americas ,...
37. Dumb! It is Kippat Barzel not Shtreimel Barzel
meir elazar   (11.20.12)
Stupid it is Iron Dome (aka male head covering) and not Iron Shtreimel (male fur hat as work by many of the Haredim).
38. #23 Al, Kol hakavod. Ynet should write about your sons.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.20.12)
The only reason I read Ynet about this worthless rabbi is to convince myself in comments that good people like you are still there. Why aren't articles written about your sons and people like them? Your sons have my gratitude and you too for raising them. I hope they return home in good health and deliver a cease fire that will last.
39. Inshallah!
Miron ,   USA   (11.20.12)
idiots and wise people distributed very much equally amongst the nations. And some of them work so hard that sometimes they muster to pass for another kind. Personally I belong to former rather than later, unfortunately. Clearly, rabeinu is the other way.
40. #29 I am sorry Ora but these fools truly
Al   (11.20.12)
piss me off. Were they not such assholes and doing their duty of protecting the country like my sons (who are very frum) I would tip my hat to them. But they dont, and quite frankly that pisses me off. If you can live with these self annointed half baked schnorrers then thats your choice. To my mind they are no different than Shalom Achshav and the wack job lefties. They may be great in picking up bloodied bodies with cotton swabs, but they dont do what has to be done, namely taking up arms against the enemy. I suffer each and every day with worry as to my sons, while in my neighbourhood here in Montreal I see them parading about with nay a worry in the world. That my dear makes me cringe at the mere sight of these fools. They have bastardized the Jewish religion to their comfort zone. That makes them no different from any other garden variety meshumudim, we have had over the past 2000 years.
41. You are a disgusting disgrace to this country
maxx ,   ISrael   (11.20.12)
How dare you ever joke or say anything of that nature...What is wrong with you. Have you no sense of brotherhood? Jewish unity? respect? how dare Ynet allow such a filthy post on there article. We have enough people hating us...Your an enemy of the jewish people get out of Israel.
42. 1991
(11.20.12)
Actually it is mentioned that in 1991 the rockets didn't it the Bnei Brak. I remember that the same Rabbi (Kanevsky) has promised that it will be so. It was during the war of 1991 even though I overhead about this promise in 1992-93. Whoever wants to investigate: go ahead.
43. # 24 Sherlock Holmes.If the
J.K. ,   Brooklyn USA   (11.20.12)
Chofetz Chaim had first hand information from heaven about where the Holocaust will strike, why didn't he intervene with God almighty concerning the future extermination of European Jews ?.the Cofetz Chaim would be embarrassed with your post, once an epilectic girl was brought to him to heal her with magic, the Chofetz Chaim said :why do you bring her to me ?. she needs a Doctor.
44. 23, 40 - They serve in the front lines...
snag ,   USA   (11.20.12)
Being from Montreal they should be serving in Canadian Armed Forces if they choose to serve otherwise they are not much better than the ones you're bitching at. Also, it's fine to mooch Americans out of billions in aid/loans/donations every year but if they ripping you off, it's schnorring ,...
45. 40 Al It breaks my heart knowing...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (11.20.12)
what you and all the parents of IDF soldiers are going through. On the other hand, you must be SO PROUD of your boys defending the country May they win this war safe and healthy, with G-Ds help. Al, hate doesn t help your kids. YOUR IMMENS LOVE DOES. By the way ,Rav Kanievsky is a Great Zadik.
46. 45 , with G-d' help ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (11.20.12)
Don't make me laugh . If we had to rely on this god , there would be no Israel .
47. #45, Did he earn an honest pruta in his life, this Schmadik?
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.20.12)
48. #46, your total denial of God is very telling
Jake ,   USA   (11.20.12)
How can you be so sure? You seem so certain that God doesn't exist, yet there are military experts who have yet to find any logical explanation for Israel's vast success on the battlefield, especially in 1967. You can chalk it up as good luck (typical atheist thinking) we will believe God is on our side. In any event, we will love & support you as a brother.
49. 48 Moshe Dayan explained Israel's battlefield success
Avi   (11.20.12)
He said "Fight Arabs." And you must admit he's right.
50. Bnei Brak
A L ,   Israel   (11.20.12)
This Rabbi never touched a dishonest pruta. He earns a living from the books he wrote, masterpieces in their fields.
51. @48 he is right, no matter where rockets fall
Miron ,   USA   (11.20.12)
Your vanity towards humble faith of our fathers is uncalled for. Chalk it up to your own business.
52. #50, I looked up Kanyevsky's work.
Michael ,   California, USA   (11.21.12)
For instance, he issued an analysis of Israeli agricultural laws, supposedly pertaining to the modern state of Israel. Wish I could put my hands on it to read. How can someone who has no education in law nor education in agriculture write a work like that? I will guess he wrote about Shmita laws based on 3000 year old commandments. There is no honest value in works like that and no honest pruta can be made, only schnorr. But nonestly, even schnorr is in doubt from the poorest of cities of Israel named Bnei Brak. Best wishes to Bnei Brak residents on the falling rockets from Gaza, may you never experience one. May the Iron Dome protect you successfully.
53. #44
(11.21.12)
Jesus was a Jew, sucka.
54. Reply to 43. Chofetz Chaim
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (11.21.12)
In the late 1920's the Chofetz Chaim said in the presence of many people, including Shimon Schwab, future Rav of Kahal Adass Jeshurun, that in a decade there would be a Holocaust that would make WW I look like child's play. He said Jews should go to Palestine to avoid this. That doesn't mean the Chofetz Chaim could counteract the causes of this Holocaust, which are discussed by Elchanon Wasserman, who perished with his disciples during the Holocaust.
55. Reply to 52. Kanievsky and Karelitz
Danny ,   London England   (11.21.12)
You seem to have interchanged Kanievsky and Kareletz. Rav Kanievsky ztl known as the Steipler Gaon and Kareletz or the Chazon Ish ztl were recognised as the two leading halachic authorities of their generation and are still quoted and studied world wide. If you've never heard of them that's a sad reflection on your Jewish education. Among observant Jews they are household names.
56. #44 snatch from the USA
(11.21.12)
Something like 120 Canadians fought with the RAF in WWII. About half died. Now you are complaining they should have just joined the Canadian forces and done nothing?
57. Reply to 23. Religious IDF sons
Akiva ,   NYC   (11.21.12)
If you ask your sons about the Chazon Ish and the Steipler Gaon, who are mentioned by Rav Kanievsky, your sons will undoubtedly know who they were and know their words are not to be taken lightly.
58. Reply to 4. Haredim in IDF
Danny ,   London England   (11.21.12)
You seem to assume Haredim don't join the IDF. Many do join the IDF, even some very 'famous names'. One of the sons of the Gaon Rav Shach was a career IDF officer. No one denies the absolute importance of the IDF. It is a mitzvah to defend the Holy Land and throughout the Jewish world we all pray for every member of the IDF. That won't do them any harm!
59. bovine scatology
caleb ,   israel   (11.21.12)
I think some people have forgotten the holocaust. All the Lithuanian rabbi's told their students no harm would befall them and not to leave. Mir yeshiva went to Shanghai and all the other yeshivas to oblivion. But I assume this rabbi depends on the IDF but is not able to admit it.
60. #59 Really?
jojo   (11.22.12)
"All the Lithuanian rabbi's told their students no harm would befall them and not to leave." Where is this documented? On the contrary, many great rabbis who were offered an escape route chose to stay behind and die al kidush hashem with thier communities!
