If this truce is just the usual Hamas agrees to a truce last a couple of months then things flare up abit so Israel retaliates and that leads to another truce agreement until that ends. If all we are negotiating for is a glorified version of that then there was no point to holding an expensive air campaign because we could have easily negotiated another short term thing. This truce must last at least 5 years and Egypt must do more to stop weapons smuggling into Gaza so if the truce breaks down then we won't be dealing with a fully rearmed Hamas. For his own sake Bibi better have got this right because if he doesn't come out of this looking like the strong man people will loose faith in him and it wouldn't surprise me if Likud voters turned to Yair Lapid who knows how to sell himself as all things to all people.
